Is there any way, i.e program that will allow the counting of space in SL to go back to base 2? As you probably know SL change from 1024=1gb to 1000mb=1gb. Any way to change it back? And why did Apple do this?
View 2 RepliesI have now had a nice 27" 2560x1440 pixel Job for about 3 1/2 weeks, but I can't stop it using a base system font which renders letters on screen at about 1.5mm high. One of your threads gives this answer: click on the backround, go to view, view options and set the font size.Yes it does set the font size used in the screen icons, but the font used in the window it opened remains resolutely minute.To compose an email, I must set the font to 24 pt, but then forget to reset it before sending the email. The zoom function does not seem to be available in composer.

I just have a few questions and I'd appreciate any answers I could get. Will the base model be sufficient for my needs? Mainly going to be web browsing and using it as a media station with iTunes. The only thing I'm not sure of is ripping blu-rays. How long would it take to do a 1080p rip on the base model iMac and would the base model be sufficient enough to play back these rips? I'm currently having issues on my hp laptop even playing back 720p blu-ray rips.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an Airport Base station. I need to reset this base station back to the factory defaults. I want to wipe away all settings.
First, how do I determine which kind of Base station that I have? The base station is white with two cat5 jacks, USB, and telephone jack. I think it is a dual port station. I don't know if this would a Graphite or Snow model.
Second, how do I reset the base station. Do I use the small reset button on the back of the unit? OR do I use Airport Base Utility software? If so, which version should I use? I am using OS 10.4.11.
Third, does anyone know of a good user manual for this particular model?
I am already aware that Snow Leopard reports hard drive sizes in base 10 and not base 2.
I'm not here to argue about proper use of SI unit prefixes, the HD manufacturer marketing cabal that reports base 10 and not base 2 sizes on the box or the merits of gibibytes vs gigabytes or GiB vs GB.
I'm just asking for a way to change the size reporting back to base 2.
I haven't yet found a way to change it back here in the forums or on Google and only a few others have asked in other threads.
I figured that making a new thread would be helpful for people who just want a solution instead of arguing about base 10 vs base 2 and having to dig through other threads full of that.
I just want to know if there is any way (formula) to count the numbers all the cells which are not empty in a column or row disregarding the content of the cell.
It may contain date, text or even number. I don't want to have the sum of those numbers, rather how many cells, have something in them.
I have two Imap accounts, gmail and one other and often the Mail program does not properly count the number of messages that are left unread. Frequently I will read a message in the unified "inbox" and then the same message will still be left "unread" in the gmail inbox. I'm using Snow Leopard on a uMBP-17, however this problem has existed for years on my other MBP.

The it somehow changed to Name: system, and the Privilege: Read and Write. I didn't know that I was NEVER supposed to do that until I googled the issue. I googled a lot, and most of the solutions says that I need my mac DVD. I am currently in North Africa visiting my parents, and my Disks are back home. I tried many things, but the more I try, the more I seem to mess up my macbook. I have a macbook white with Mac OS X 10.5.8. Some suggest to go to Terminal, and use chown -R, but as soon as I open Terminal, i get the following:

I just realized something. Isn't it weird how Apple is offering a larger hard drive for the base MacBook and a smaller hard drive for the base MacBook Pro? The MacBook comes with a 250GB HDD and the Pro comes with a 160GB HDD.

I've already got a 27" iMac and a 32GB iPad. But I'd still like a MBA because they are fantastic machines. I'm thinking I want to swap out my 13 for a base 11 and save the $300.

Anyways, when I used to open my applications folder all my app icons were smaller and they would all fit in the box. Now when I open it, I have to scroll to get to the different apps. How can I change this back to what it used to be?
I changed the resolution on my iBook to a resolution that is unsupported. Now when I turn my iBook it loads OSX 10.4 perfectly, then the screen goes black and just before it loads my desktop the screen Flashes Red, Green & Blue etc. I can't change the res back to 1024 x 768.

I have an additional HDD in my powermac and TM is set to auto back to this but what i want to do is run a backup to an external HDD from which i will import the data to my parents computer so that i have another backup of my stuff in a different location for safety's sake but i didn;t think you could change the location of the back up on a temporary basis and that all you could do is run a fresh backup on the external drive and re-run another back up which will take ages again onto my existing hdd.

I have no idea what happened but somehow the function of some of the keys on the top row on my Macbook Pro keyboard changed. For instance the dashboard key does nothing while the F12 key now shows the dashboard, F11 shows the desktop while F9 does what F3 did before etc.
I'm certain no fluids were spilt on the keys.
After I restarted and tried to change them back to the default function in the system preferences window, nothing happened.
How can I restore the defaults?

Have a 2nd internal hard drive on my Mac Pro work station and os 10.5.2 on it. I did a restart to start up on this hd and found the Home Folder in users titled "PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP". How can I change from the paper cassette to the paper feed on the back of the printer? I've checked the documents that came with the printer, but they are silent on this subject. Now I would like to change all of my PDF icons back to the default red and white Adobe Reader icon. Does anyone know how to do that please? I have Googled this and see instructions for how to change from the Adobe default to custom but can't figure out how to reverse that.
