OS X :: Canon EOS Rebel Just Blinks - Plug It Into Mac
Mar 10, 2010
I have a Mac Pro and when I plug my Canon EOS Rebel Xti into the USB drive, it doesn't appear as a mounted drive. Instead what happens is the light for the CF card on the camera just blinks rapidly. I'm not sure what's going on here. The camera works just fine when plugged into my Windows PC (which I'm trying to leave in the dust!!). When plugged in, the open as dialogue appears. Why the trouble on my Mac?
My work site requires me to download an internet plug-in (Safari comes up with the message - "Safari cannot find internet plug-in"). After following companies directions and installing the plug-in I still get the same message when I try to visit the site.
Yesterday, Safari began crashing every 45 minutes. I get a message that says Safari quit unexpectedly because of a plug-in called .MasterofDefense.tmp. I used finder to search my computer, and I cannot find this file.  PlugIn Path: /Users/<myname>/Library/Application Support/.MasterofDefense.tmpPlugIn Identifier: .MasterofDefense.tmpPlugIn Version:   ??? (???) The file is NOT in that location mentioned in the crash log. According to web searches, MasterofDefense is some game, but I have never installed any games on my machine.Â
I was wondering if there was a way to use the iPhone's audio jack as an external jack for the macbook pro via USB or so, as i own the 13 inch model, that only offers one jack.
I want to use garage band just trying out a bit and i'd need an extra jack for the headphones, otherwise the microphone will record what's played over the internal speakers.
EDIT: I forgot to say that I already tried things like AirPhones, meaning wireless stream to iphone. But there's unfortunately few moments of latency, so i hardly can use it for recording.
I have a acer 22"Widescreen monitor connected to a G5 Dual thru the DVI port on the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro card. Last night while opening windows &/or scrolling thru info. The monitor would blink and then POOF the windows disappear along with everything else on my desktop including hard drive icons! (the top menu border was still there, I don't remember if the dock survived)
After this happened a couple of times, a couple of restarts and letting it sit for an hour or so, I found that if I touched places on my desktop, randomly, the items that would normally occupy that piece of real estate would become visible. The phenomena hasn't happened today but I'm trying to isolate any problems before they become unfixable.

I'm having a problem with my display that I have had for a week now. It's connected to a MacBook via mini display port. At random times the display will go completely black for about one second and then come back on. This does not seem to have an affect on anything else. The display is beautiful other than this quirk. there are many people discussing this same problem, not only with a regular MacBook like mine but also with the MacBookPro.
I just installed 8GB in a early 2009 2.66 Quad (I know I'll lose triple channel) but now it looks like there is a red LED on the daughter board that blinks when the power button is pressed. It also blinks for a second when the computer shuts down.
If you have a surge protector, I know there are two red LEDs on the mother board that blink when the surge protector is switched on (right under the optical drive). I think those are normal since it's been that way from the very beginning. But I don't ever remember seeing the red LED on the daughter board light up when the power button is pressed. The LED is just left of the large heatsink, and it is not part of the LEDs associated with the RAM or Riser.
When I start Safari in three of four accounts, the home page just blinks trying to open, but it never does. Safari works just fine in only one account.

my power cord comes unplugged. my battery is 100% charged, and yet whenever the magsafe comes unplugged the whole thing shuts down. I notice the sleep light blinks rapidly a few times then when my cord goes back in things restore? Edit: My macbookpro is a Unibody which is less then 6 months old. I received it as a replacement unit from apple (due to a lemon macbookpro i originally had) Which i figured means that the battery cant be bad, i take extremely good care of my computer.
I own a MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz and my problem happend like this:Last night I stopped playing SC2 and closed my MBP, then this morning I noticed that while it was closed, it had not gone to sleep mode, or at least that's what I thought, because it was too hot and the fans spinning hard. I openned it and showed no video, but remained on. After a 5-sec power button restart, it flashed the sleep indicator once and did nothing else, except for the HD spinned for a sec.I took the battery off and gave the computer time to cool off, because I sensed it way too hot. After I reinstalled the battery, I was able to turn it on the normal way, it worked just fine, but later I closed it again and when I openned it, it showed no video again.I repeated the process of letting it cool down, but with no effect this time. The sleep indicator turns on once and it does nothing.I tried swapping the memories, resetting the SMC, tried booting pressing control + command + r + p, tried booting without the battery, tried booting without the magsafe, nothing has worked. Now what happens when I press the power button is I hear the HD try to spin for half a second and the sleep indicator turn on once.
I use my MBP connected to a Dell U2410 and everything has been ok for the last 5 months or so (I got the MBP around the beginning of Feb.). However recently, my display will start flickering (blinking) a blue screen up to the point that it is completely unusable. Often if I simply unplug the mini displayport from the mbp and plug it back in again, everything goes back to normal for awhile. Just now I was able, between flickers, to switch from the integrated graphics card to the dedicated (?) graphics card. Although I did get a few flickers logging back in, so far it's been ok.
When I push the power button on my eMac the light come on but it just blink and also make beeps. Can anyone tell me why I am having this prob.. I am new to Mac.
I recently received a Power Mac G5 from work. They told me I could have it, but reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling the OS was on me. So, I took it home, and plugged it in to turn it on, and the white light on the front blinks 3 times and then stays steady... and then blinks 3 times again... and so on and so on.
The RAM that came with it was bad, so I put in 2, 1 GB PC3200 sticks in it. Isn't it a RAM problem?
Every now and then, i get these random flash of black near the top of the screen. Its like a quick split second blink. I never had this problem in regular leopard. I'm not sure if I have a faulty GPU but I think i might too cause when I'm on battery power 9400m, the graphic performance goes down.
I have macbook pro 13" laptop. The laptop fell down (ofcourse, it was in the bag), and no breakage happened to it, but failed starting after that. The sleep LED was blinking with a beep sound continuously and did not start after that.
My Macbook Pro (early 2013, OSX 10.9.4) does not come to sleep mode – 10 secs after closing the display lid apple logo starts glowing (blinking) on a random intervals.Â
I have tried the following methods that HAVE NOT solved the issue:
* PRAM reset * SMC reset * Power Nap is disabled (with enabled I still get the same issue) * WiFi is off * Bluetooth is off * no external devices connected * no antiviruses or other programs that I would suspect to cause this * sudo rm -r -f /Library/Prefrences/SystemConfiguration * finally reinstalled OS X, and I still got the same issueÂ
Surprisingly, if I enter to sleep mode via menu: Apple>Sleep, there seems to be no issue! I have tried changing pmset -1 lidopen 0 to validate if lid is preventing from going to sleep mode, however it has not fixed the issue. Â
My Macbook doesn't turn on, it just show a white screen and after a while a big question mark blinks but nothing else, cannot click the question mark, cannot do anything. Also it makes a funny noise.
I have a 2 year old macbook that has generally worked well. About 4 days ago, I put it to sleep and didn't touch it again until yesterday so the battery had obviously been drained. I've done this before in the past and whenever I plug the charger back in, the computer starts right up, no problem. This time however, the macbook won't start up, the charger is a solid amber color for about 3 seconds before switching to a blinking green. The screen blinks black (as in I don't even hear the chime and get the gray startup screen) and the little white light in the front blinks quite rapidly. I've tried resetting the PMU several times to no avail. I've taken the ram out and tried each one individually with no changes. I checked the ram carefully as well and they don't seem fried or anything. I've tried plugging the charger in with the battery and without the battery and the result is still the same.
I have another friend here with a macbook so I'm going to test it out with her charger this weekend as well as charge my battery in her laptop and then pop it back into mine and see if it works (although this is really a last ditch attempt on my part).
Any ideas on how to fix it or what the problem is? I don't live in the States so going to a Genius Bar isn't an option.
I am trying to figure out what is making my June 2009 17" UBMP act up - tons of spinning wheels, lock ups, trackpad issues etc. I have done verify & repair permissions twice, all software updates are in place, done a PRAM reset twice and run Tech Tool Pro Deluxe which shows no issues. Someone asked me to check that my Plug-Ins were OK but I have no way to tell as I know jack about technical things! I have managed to copy what they are on a PDF attached.
I'm really hoping for an update to the Mini at Macworld. With a new mini, I'd love the ability to connect it to my 36" HDTV and connect wirelessly with a keyboard and mouse from my couch. I would love to be able to use the Mac from the comfort of my living room for both work and pleasure. (I'm a bit of a gamer as well)
So my question is, is this a pipe dream?
Will the new Minis support an output to a HDTV? (Or for that matter, do the current minis?)
How far is the range for a standard bluetooth mouse & keyboard? Would it be possible to put the keyboard and mouse on my coffee table (about 6-8' from the TV)?
And most importantly, if this is all possible, will this make me the ultimate couch potato, and will I ever see daylight again?
When I plug in a USB Flash Memory, it instantly pop up a message that says I need to restart my computer, by letting the power button presed for a while or pressing the restart button (Which I dont have). It has a 0/1 button-like image on it.
At first I thought my USB had a virus or some corrupt file, but when I realized there were no mac files (Just Windows and universal), I pluged in another USB, and the same thing happened.
my dad has Pro Tools 8 (the mbox) and he is wanting to plug it into his Mac Pro, however it seems there is only one FireWire port on the back of the Mac Pro, which is currently being used to power a 30" and 23" ACD.
How can this work? is there a firewire splitter, allowing you to use two firewire ports from one?Or anything else you can do, does anyone have any idea's?
