I have macbook pro 13" laptop. The laptop fell down (ofcourse, it was in the bag), and no breakage happened to it, but failed starting after that. The sleep LED was blinking with a beep sound continuously and did not start after that.

Just installed a second Samsung F1 500GB (HD502IJ) hard drive in my 2x1.8 G5 Power Mac. I have the "Energy Saver" option on default and the system turns the hard drives off when they're not being used. Everything is working good with this drive except one thing: When the system turns the Samsung to sleep, there's a tiny beep/sound, like coming from the motherboard or something. So I was wondering:
1. Should there be a beep on sleep?
2. How do I turn this annoying beep off?
my power cord comes unplugged. my battery is 100% charged, and yet whenever the magsafe comes unplugged the whole thing shuts down. I notice the sleep light blinks rapidly a few times then when my cord goes back in things restore? Edit: My macbookpro is a Unibody which is less then 6 months old. I received it as a replacement unit from apple (due to a lemon macbookpro i originally had) Which i figured means that the battery cant be bad, i take extremely good care of my computer.

I openned it and showed no video, but remained on. After a 5-sec power button restart, it flashed the sleep indicator once and did nothing else, except for the HD spinned for a sec.I took the battery off and gave the computer time to cool off, because I sensed it way too hot.After I reinstalled the battery, I was able to turn it on the normal way, it worked just fine, but later I closed it again and when I openned it, it showed no video again.I repeated the process of letting it cool down, but with no effect this time.The sleep indicator turns on once and it does nothing.I tried swapping the memories, resetting the SMC, tried booting pressing control + command + r + p, tried booting without the battery, tried booting without the magsafe, nothing has worked.Now what happens when I press the power button is I hear the HD try to spin for half a second and the sleep indicator turn on once.

Recently I upgraded the Ram on my macbook from 1 gb to 4 and now when I put it to sleep It wakes up becuase I can here everything on inside but the screen wont turn on. Every time this happens I have to boot it down but recently I woke it up and it made a BEEP noise and the sleep indicator light flashed with it. Again I had to boot it down.

I got a 13" Unibody MBP, lower-end model, in July. Since then I've noticed various issues.
First of all, I have the common beachball problem. There's no click/beep sound associated with it like some have, and I've noticed clearing out my cache and occasional restarts have helped that. But in general things seem to be much slower than when I first got it... But of course I have many more programs installed, but very few are actually running.
I remember it being nearly completely silent when I first got it. Now I can hear noises when it loads web pages, applications, etc. that reminds me of the noise you'd head from an old desktop. Was I just imagining that it was silent before? The fans seem to run more often, as well.
Also, my audio jack is more and more often not detecting when something is plugged in to it. Usually putting it in to sleep and waking it back up helps.
Anyway, all of these together make me wonder if I should be paying a visit to the Apple store, and if so, what should I ask?

Am hearing a beep tone every 5 seconds when I startup my iMac computer. It is on macosx.
The last time I used it was when I was playing starcraftII and I shut down without removing the CD like I usually do. But this time when I startup the iMac does not boot up. I have tried resetting the SMC and it didn't work. I pressed down the mouse while startup and the CD didn't come out but I started to hear these beep tones, when I startup now. Thought it might be the memory card so removed them and tried starting up without them and then tried one by one and I still getting the beep tones, will I lose my hardisk as well if I keep rebooting too many times like this? How to get the CD out and startup the iMac properly?

Hi guys im trying to censor out profanity in my iMovie project, so far i put the little beep sound at the part where i want to block but as it plays it plays the beep AND the curs word so you can hear it, how can i make it so that ONLY the beep can be herd and not the curs word, like mute that part of the clip.. About 90% of the time, I am using the MBP on the couch while watching TV. When I pick up the MBP to move it around, the HDD makes a quiet "CLICK" sound... It does it more when the base is slightly vertical if that helps. Is this by design? The first thing I thought it might be doing is preparing for a drop by stopping the read/write. Then again, it may be the ugly sound of a dying HDD. I should probably tell you what I have. Spring 2010 MBP. Specs are in signature.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI tried SMC resets and everything. The Macbook takes a charge and charges normally when it is asleep, or off. It will charge to the max (96%). Battery has 349h load cycles. Charges when asleep or off. As soon as I power on the laptop or wake it up, it will stop charging. Battery holds the normal charge I usually get (3ish hours). Tried a few pram and smc zaps. Battery charger is a Hong Kong knockoff. Battery inside is genuine. 2008 Aluminum Macbook. Cleaned magsafe and port with q-tip and still to no avail.
When plugged in, it will run *off the battery* and the charger will show a green light and not trickle charge the battery. It will drain the battery, and then when it is drained it will run off the power. Check the screen shot. I am thinking that the charger is the culprit. Because it holds a charge when I let it charge while it is off. It will charge up just fine, in the two hours or whatever it takes to charge itself up. Battery usage is normal when it is running off the battery.
I recently brought my computer to the Apple store to repair dents on the outside of my laptop.Ever since I received it back it does not go into sleep mode when I close the screen.

So one day I activated deep sleep from this widget like I always do when I want to keep my 100% charge and i'm traveling with my macbook and keep my stuff saved.
It didn't work. So I kept clicking. clicking. clicking. Nothing.
So I slept my mac, and woke it again and it worked.
However when I went to wake it, I just got a grey screen. I held down the power button to cold boot, and when I rebooted it booted from the RAM file like it would normally when waking from deep sleep.
But now every-time I close the laptop it goes into deep sleep.
My computer: Late 2008 MBP 15" OSX 10.9.5
Whenever I shutdown or sleep the computer, the sound does not work when I start it up or wake it up. The startup sound does not play, and the audio controls are not greyed out. Audio does not work through headphones either. Plugging in and unplugging headphones does not solve the problem.
Sometimes a PRAM reset will solve the problem, and an SMC reset always brings the audio back, but only until I shut it down or put it to sleep again.

It sounds exactly like the little "click" sound the computer makes, when i close the lid and have it go into sleep mode. I guess it's the hard drive going to sleep sound? If i'm right, i really don't understand why the hard drive goes to sleep at these random times. I've disabled that in System Preferences - at least i think so.
