OS X :: Browser Compatibility Software For Mac OS?

Nov 16, 2010

Being a web designer/developer, I use Adobe Dreamweaver to write the HTML and it has the feature to see a live view on different specified browsers. My question is:

Is there a stand-alone application for OSX.6.5 (like Microsoft Web Expressions) that is just a browser compatibilty utility? MS Web Expressions gives you options for overlaying, split screening and other useful tools, but refuse to dula boot!

Mac Pro :: Finding GPU Compatibility For OS X?

Nov 12, 2009

I'm tired of the low end GPUs in the MacBook Pros and iMacs, want to game but don't want a PC. I'm considering picking up a second hand Mac Pro and upgrading the GPU - however, I know there aren't currently drivers available for eg. the HD 5000 series. What would happen if I were to install one in a Mac Pro? Would I get no image at all in OS X? Would I get unusable video/flash/photoshop performance in OS X?

PowerPC :: Getting Old G5 And Leopard Compatibility?

Oct 29, 2010

I have an old dual processor G5 power mac. A few years ago I tried to upgrade to OSX Leopard and after a month or so my system slowly started to go wrong, first problems with emails and safari, and then other miscellaneous issues and finally it completely crashed. I cleared the hard drive, reinstalled everything, and the same thing happened.

I got a local Mac service chap out to look at it and he tried a few things that didn't work and said that there were issues of compatibility with Leopard and the the old non-intel processors and recommended reinstalling Tiger. Which I did and have stuck with it since then with no problems.

has anyone tried the Asus U3S6 in a Mac Pro yet? If so, which OS X version does it require, and are additional drivers needed? It would be an extremely cheap option to get both USB 3.0 and eSATA 6Gb/s in our machines (would require two PCIe slots though).

OS X :: Freeware And Program Compatibility?

Sep 12, 2009

(1)Are there any particularly good Mac freeware program websites (and, alternatively any that are best avoided)?

(2)The system on my ibook G4 is Tiger 10.4.11 - can I only use programs that specifically say they are for 10.4.11, or I am correct in thinking that any program said to be for 10.4 will work on 10.4.11?

Also, would a program said to be for the Tiger 10.4 range work on the versions before mine (e.g., 10.1 Puma) and after mine (e.g., 10.5 Leopard)? For example, on the Truecrypt website it says the 'latest Stable Version - 6.2a' is for 'Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5', so I assume this will work on my 10.4.11 system. However, for example, if it only said '10.5', I assume I should not download/install this for Tiger?

Software :: DVD Authoring / Compatibility?

Aug 30, 2008

I would like to know if anybody can help me with a very frustrating situation in which I find one of my video productions: after producing a YOGA video and going through a very happy production and postproduction period, we decided to Author ourselves a DVD for replication and this is what happened: after editing in final cut I compressed with compressor then went into DVD studio pro 4 and did the authoring following all the steps that we learned with the video tutorial of Larry Jordan which basically recommends to use Roxio toast for the final burning, everything looked good and chapters and extra audios, menus seemed to be well done, then we went into the testing for compatibility issues and we found that we could not play the DVD either in PC nor in 90% of the DVD players, but we could see it with no problem in any macintosh available to us, amazed of the outcome we send the DVD disc to the replicating company for their diagnosis and they told us that we had a problem with compatibility and that they need to re-author almost everything with a cost that we did not have in our budget. I decided to try not making the final burning with Roxio and did it with DVD studio 4 and the same thing happened, for a while we thought that we did something wrong in the process and we repeated several times with the same outcome, I suspect it has something to do with deciding which regions to make it ( we always choose all the available and we left unchecked the section for anticopy and macrovision because we thought that the replication business needed to apply that part. Tried to get some info from them and we only got more confusion, they told nothing about the anticopy issue and the only answer they gave us as the possible cause of the problem was that is a problem related to Mac G5 of recent production that they produced DVD only compatible with Mac computers which seems to me a very surrealistic answer difficult to believefinally I am in a situation in which I am delaying my clients video and cannot tell why and also we made an investment in software in order to give authoring services to our clients that I cant use or offer anymore... And the replicating company is telling me that they cannot really tell me what the problem is so I can solve it and just pay for the replication but they can solve it for me paying an extra cost.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: MS Office Compatibility With It?

Jun 17, 2012

I have loved being a Mac owner since 2008...UNTIL now.  WHO can educate me on the compatibility of Lion with the following (I currently have a 2G 2008 MacBook with 10.6.8 Snow Leopard)

- 2008 MS Office for Mac (Word, PPT, Excel)

- Have many old files in MS 2004 and even 2002.  What will happen with these when I am on Lion?

With this move to Lion/the Cloud, I cannot get a straight story from Apple on compatibility of Lion with MS products (Word, Excel, PPT.).  Totally different scenario when I was a PC CONVERT.  Apple sales people could tell me all that I needed to know to move from PC to Mac.  A little bait and switch now that I am on board.

MacBook :: Determining The SSD Compatibility?

Jun 30, 2012

Info:

OS X :: External Drive Compatibility MBP (SL) And PC (Vista)

Jan 24, 2010

I got a Macbook Pro with Snow leopard and a PC with vista at work. I want to buy an iomega Prestige portable (320 or 500gb) external drive and want to utilise with both machines, mainly to transfer/syncing documents. I want to take advantage of Time Machine in my mac as well. iomega user manual is saying that: "Please note that you might need to reformat the drive to Mac OS Extended (HFS+) before use."

1. Is that something definitely I have to do? If I don't, would that still work with both?
2. If I do so, would that create any problem with reading/writing of
the files?
3.Would that create any problem with the PC connectivity?
