Recent update was midweek of June 17-23. Have been having constant issue with connecting to the Internet. I have to stop the airport then restart airport and wait a minute then it's working fine for like 5 minutes. It is unbearable! I get an exclamation on the airport icon in the menu bar. I have to repeat steps again, over and over and over.

I haven't tested with a new test account, because I simply don't have the down time, but I would love some diagnostic tool or technique that will allow me to continue working and test when the connection goes down...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dual 1.8 GHz Power PC G5 and am running 10.4.11. When I select software update it says, "software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you are connected to the internet..." "Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem." However, my internet connection works fine for everything else. I do have two peripheral drives connected. One of them had the same system as my main drive. However, the problem persists even when they are disconnected and I reboot. I can get the updates if I reboot from the peripheral.

It would constantly say that it couldn't find an internet connection. I tried to check to see if I could do an update, and same problem. Here is the kicker. Mail, iChat, and Firefox all work fine. The only applications affected that I can find so far are iTunes, Safari, and Automatic Update.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have had a little powerbook G4 since about a year now. Such a great little stable machine that we have never had any problems with it. As a consequence, we still know little about it (usually I learn about machines/software by running into problems). Now, the wireless starts working intermittently. Sometimes it works fine and at other times it will not even indicate that our home network is present (whereas we have two other laptops (Win XP) that show that the network is active and has excellent strength). So at these times we are unable to re-connect. This started about two weeks ago and starts to get worse (it will more often not find it). Restarting does not work, but sometimes, when trying again the next day or a couple of hours later, it will work again. Should we just go ahead and get a new wireless card for the p-book?

I use a Linksys router and none of my wireless PC's are effected by any loss of connectivity when my Mac is, in fact, they do not lose connection to the internet at all. I am connected to my own secure network that is wep password protected.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 year old macbook that just refuses to connect to my wifi, I also have 4 other apple devices that connect seamlessly. it registers the network, it joins the net work and then fails, I have had several different error messages as follows while re entering my password I get a dropdown box saying I have changed settings, this then sends me back to the preferences to start again. and then i get error message that my password is incorrect (I can confirm it is correct) I have also been to the genius bar, and we managed a connection for the duration of the visit ( a healthy reading too apparantly)they carried out a hardwear diagnoistics check and it was given a full bill of health. I was advised to insert the reinstallation disk and carry out a reinstall - I have done this and the problem is still there. Â

My wireless network is connected to my iMac but the internet goes down a lot and I have to reset the wifi up in the menu bar. It doesn't lose bars at all or say its disconnected. My wireless printer always works just fine. None of the other computers in my house have this problem.

In short, we got a new Mac Mini on Friday. I hooked it up to the wireless keyboard/mouse from the Dell dimension 2400 we are replacing. It seemed okay at first but developed issues the first day. Intermittent mouse drop outs, and loss of internet being the worst symptoms. I am thinking of ditching the Mini and getting something else.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAfter updating earlier this week with the EFL Processor update and the Superdrive update, each time I bring my MBP out of hibernate or log on the CD drive starts to run like it trying to load a disc.
But there is no disc inside to cause the drive to think its loaded. It will do this 3 or 4 times before giving up. The noise is annoying especially when at the library studying for finals.
I assume this must have to do with my recent software update (installed today)
Now, when I open my email and many web pages - notably google, it seems as if the default viewing font has changed.. even the text on the "submit" buttons and things like that has changed...
and whats worse is the new font is barely legible. I don't have any idea what has happened or how to fix it... can someone please help, this is really annoying!
I remember reading somewhere that a new updated was released a few days after the MBP's that everybody should download if you bought one.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed iTunes 10.6 a few days ago. Ever since then, iTunes will run until I try to sync any of my devices. I have tried sync'ing iPad, different generations/typs of iPod and iPhone. They all cause the app to quit "unexpectedly". I can play music from iTunes on my computer - it just fails when connecting to a device via the USB port or wi-fi. I reinstalled iTunes today.

I have a MacPro Early 2009, 2 ethernet ports.Ethernet 1 is connected to the LAN and Ethernet 2 is connected directly to a SSL Matrix console (an audio mixer), whom driver needs the used ethernet port to be first of the list in the Network connections list in System Preferences.So when I browse internet I can't use the Matrix's software, and vice versa.I had to create 2 different network positions to browse internet and to work with SSL Matrix, one with Eth 1 first place, another one with Eth 2 first place, and I always have to swap positions.Is there a way to force OSX to use by default the 2nd connection of the list for internet access?Â

I'm on holiday using my mobile phone (Nokia N80) to connect to the Internet over GPRS / EDGE / UMTS. Everything works like a charm, but often the Internet Connect applet drops the connection and just hangs disconnecting.
I'm running OS X 10.4.7 on a 17" Macbook pro, but I have the same result on a iBook G4, same OS X version, and even trying with a different mobile phone (Nokia 6600) and different network service provider.
Ran Software Update on mother's iMac (20"/2.0GHZ/1GB/250GB - at least 200GB free, running 10.4). Many updates (Safari, Flash, Security Update, whose number I did not get...). Message that one update could not be installed, did not say which one. Computer will no start up (grey screen).
Started up from Disk 1, repaired Permissions, ran Disk Repair, which indicated no repairs needed. Removed only peripheral (ADSL modem) & ran Safe Boot; it stalls. Last four lines are.
I did the latest firmware update few days ago and went through that series of boots. It's a shame on me that I didn't jog down the ROM revision info before the update. According to the this link:

My MBA 13 is still read MBA31.0061.B00 after I thought I did the update. Does that mean the update didn't go through?
I have a MacBook Pro running Tiger. After installing the most recent update, I find that Safari keeps crashing every time I open a new tab. I've tried cleaning out my plug ins and history.plist, but it hasn't helped.

Anyways, I installed it, and now the computer wont boot. It is stuck on the gray screen with the spinning symbol. It appears to be installing the software update, since it shows a gray progress bar, but then once that finishes, it just stays on the gray screen with the spinning symbol and goes nowhere after that.
I have a Macbook Pro available to use, if I need to target the disk. Not sure how to do that though, just found that idea in my google search.
I have no problem just being able to grab my important data off of it, and starting on a fresh install. I just dont want to lose my huge library of pictures and music.
Since I did a recent upgrade of iTunes I cannot get videos to play. The videos I downloaded with an album only play the audio and not the video.

I have installed the latest update that Apple posted a few days ago on multipl computers. It seems that after the update, screen sharing still works, but instead of bringing up the shared screen in about 5 seconds as it used to, it now takes almost 30 seconds. This has happened for me on two seperate networks so I believe it is not network related. Something in the Lion update seems to be culpret. My 10.6 server machines still can be shared fine.

Is there a way to update a super duper clone that I have on a portable external from my Time machine backups? It would simplify my backup protocol a lot, I travel with a live clone in case my system crashes.
When I'm at home I backup tirelessly to a time machine drive connected to my server. I would love to be able to just dock my portable with my server and be able to update my clone easily.
