I have a macbook pro running Mac OS X 10.6.2I have tried a variety of cables (3.5mm to 2x Phono) to my mixer and each time it produces a loud hum.Ive tried the same cable plugged into my iphone direct and its perfectly fine so it was looking like the audio output of the mac, however, when I plug in headphones (ive tried 3 different pairs) i dont hear the humming at all

I am using a VGA (I know that doesn't send audio over) plugged into the 'PC In' port at the back of my tv, and I am using an audio cable with a normal headphone-type jack on one end (going into the headphone port on the back of my mac mini) and the red/white cable going into the HDMI-in red/white ports on the back of my tv. I can't figure out what is going on - I tried plugging the red/white cables into all the input ports on the back of my tv, just in case, but no luck.Â

I have a Monoprice USB/Mini-USB to HDMI port in Samsung LCD TV. When watching a movie being shown from my Macbook to the TV screen we can't get audio to transfer to the TV. We've tried different setting on the TV remote but nothing seems to work.

Trying to figure out if something is up with mine and a buddies machine specifically or they are all buggered....
Please post if you have an audio pop or click type sound that is intermittent (every few minutes or couple hours) on your i5 or i7 machine while playing audio through external speakers.

I have a high end sound system with receiver, sub, speakers, surround, etc. that I want to deliver the highest quality sound I can from my iMac. I use optical cables with my other peripherals yet I was unaware that there was a converter that could take an optical signal to an analog "headphone" jack? This doesn't reduce the quality at all? Could someone tell me the exact name of such a converter and if I'm correct in assuming it allows a standard optical fiber audio cable to fit in the "headphone" jack on my iMac. Would like to run out and grab one. And again, is this the best option for highest quality audio from my iMac?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI hook up a Samsung LCD to my MBA via the Mini DVI cable and everything works great. However, when I unhook the cable (regardless of whether the Mac is on/off), the Mac doesn't pick up that it is now only on a single display, when opening apps (say Firefox), and opens them as if they were on the secondary monitor (so I can only see the very left hand edge). I can't imagine that I would need to minimize or drag the window to the MBA display prior to unplugging the cable, every single time...?
The only work around I have been able to find is drop the display resolution to 8x6 and grab the edge of the window and drag it over. I've tried "Detect Displays", restarting and other "tinkering" to no avail.
How can i connect macbook air (current model) to a external display? I have a view sonic display that claims to be mac compatible. It came with a USB cable. But when i hook it up, it shows no activity. In system preference, i hit detect display, doesn't seem to do anything.

In a few months I will be setting up a booth at a comic convention and I would like to have two monitors running on the table to showcase the art. I have a 17" MBP Unibody with one external 24" monitor via the mini-DV - DVI cable. I would like to attach another 24" as well. These two monitors only have to mirror what I am doing on the screen so I just need a cheap solution.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a presentation tomorrow and need to hook up my MBP to the projector in class. I bought an Apple Mini Displayport to DVI cable, and a DVI to DVI cable. I thought this would be the case, but come to find out the system does not support DVI. So I had to run to Best buy to get a DVI to VGA cable. I tried out the MDP > DVI > VGA rig on my external monitor and got nothing. The screen on my MBP responded by turning blue for a second and then back to normal...but the monitor said "No Signal". Is this some jargon with DVI-D and DVI-I? I need to know by tomorrow morning if I have to run back to the Apple Store and get a Mini Displayport to VGA cable.

But when I plug in headphones or an external speaker, everything works fine. I can once again adjust the audio and get sound
There was a red light eminating from the audio out jack for a while (last couple of days) but today, there is no longer a red light. Still no audio from the speakers.

Since upgrading to Lion about 1 month ago, I was having intermittent audio issues, which were resolved by re-starting my computer (not ideal but it worked). Today, the speakers just stopped working. The internal speakers work, but when I plug the externals into the headphone port, they don't produce sound. Earbuds in the same port also don't work (but the earbuds are good). The external speakers are being recognized by the sound panel in system preferences.
