View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to hook my cable into a tv tuner that I will hook up to a Mac Mini. The Mini will then be hooked up to my flat screen.
I have Tivo now that allows me to remotely schedule recordings and it is a dual tuner allowing me to record to channels at the same time.
1. Can computer tv tuners record 2 channels at the same time?
2. Can I remotely "log in" to the Mini/tuner and schedule recordings?
3. Can I remotely log in and watch my recordings from another location?
4. Can I remotely access my tuner from another location and watch TV (like a Slingbox)?
Does all external network storage have to be hooked to the AEBS via USB or can it go through the Ethernet port?
I am looking for a Raid 1 capable home network storage solution for sharing media, storing home movies and if it'll work, do Time Machine backups. I've read a lot of people hooking up through USB but not much about the Ethernet port.
I have attached my Mac mini to my Sony TV (to use as a moniter) - there hasn't been any trouble with the picture but I cannot get any sound. Â
I am using a VGA (I know that doesn't send audio over) plugged into the 'PC In' port at the back of my tv, and I am using an audio cable with a normal headphone-type jack on one end (going into the headphone port on the back of my mac mini) and the red/white cable going into the HDMI-in red/white ports on the back of my tv. I can't figure out what is going on - I tried plugging the red/white cables into all the input ports on the back of my tv, just in case, but no luck.Â

Do you guys think that Apple would release a firmware update for the Mini Display port so that it can send both Audio and Video through a single cable on a late 2009 13" MBP?
They have done it on the New MBP but yeah it sucks to connect/carry 2 cables all the time on my MBP I bought in Oct 2009
I now have video but no audio when connecting my macbook pro to my digital TV. TV is Teac HDMI and using moshi mini-display and HDMI cable.

Would a standard 3.5mm audio input cable work? Would it fit in the port on my MacBook Pro? These are the cables I am looking at: [URL]. Port Image. I am looking at recording music from my Record Player to my computer with this Tutorial: [URL].
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy iMac 24" (3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB memory, one of the newest generations) has an audio out jack that double as an analog/digital out? I have a high end sound system with receiver, sub, speakers, surround, etc. that I want to deliver the highest quality sound I can from my iMac. I use optical cables with my other peripherals yet I was unaware that there was a converter that could take an optical signal to an analog "headphone" jack? This doesn't reduce the quality at all? Could someone tell me the exact name of such a converter and if I'm correct in assuming it allows a standard optical fiber audio cable to fit in the "headphone" jack on my iMac. Would like to run out and grab one. And again, is this the best option for highest quality audio from my iMac?

For 5.1 audio, do I need to buy this product and then just use a standard Optical audio cable to plug into my receiver?2. The new Mac Mini comes with a mini DVI to DVI connector correct? So all I will have to buy is a DVI to HDMI cable?3. Is OWC (other world computing) the best place to buy upgrades for the mac mini? I have looked at the videos on youtube and it seems like something I should be able to do no problem.

A Google search reveals a few parts suppliers in Europeland, but they are all charging silly prices for the cable, and US suppliers impose ridiculously high postage charges.
I receive cable TV at home and I am told that instead of using a TV I can hook my MacBook via a HDMI cable and watch TV that way on my laptop screen. I'd like to do that. Is the information correct? How do I go about it? Can my MacBook do that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering how I could file share, or make the whole Hard Drive (HDD) accessible to another computer. The two other computers I have are a Toshiba Laptop with Ethernet and USB, and a iMac Intel with Firewire, USB, and Ethernet. Putting these to use along with:Three Ethernet Cables Now how do I get the whole HDD visible to the others computers (either/both) and be able to write to it? Also, I do not want to use CDs and have no CDs that came with the computers. I want to put Xubuntu on the eMac and Debian on the iMacs and erase the rest of the Hard Drives. I bought my Macbook Pro in Oct 2009 and am trying to figure out which cables I need to hook it up to my new Sony Bravia TV. It's my understanding that Apple made a Macbook Pro that would allow video and audio to pass through the HDMI cables but I'm not sure if that's the one I have. Do I just need the minidisplay port to HDMI or do I need something else?

I have the latest release of the 13 Macbook Pro. I have searched endlessly on the internet on ways to connect my macbook to an rca inlet on a television but find the information to be outdated or all about hdmi. I would like to run a cable(s) from my mini display port to the rca jack on my television. I only have one HD compatible television so I would like to have a more flexible solution for the rest of the aging televisions in my domicile.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some tv shows downloaded that I'd like to watch on my HDTV. I currently have a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter and a 3.5mm male to male audio cable that I plug into the TV and the headphone jack on my MBP.
1. The audio does not work. Is there a setting somewhere I must enable?
2. Would I be better off buying some other sort of cable?
3. What are my options for displaying my MBP screen on the TV and where do I access these options? When I hook up the adapter it just extends my screen to the TV.
Perhaps I need a MBP to TV guide of some sort. I can get this done easily with my old PC but I"d really like to do it with my MBP.
I have a Macbook Aluminium late 2008 (first gen), and am looking to buy an external monitor. The ones I have my eyes on right now is the Acer 24", which comes with VGA and HDMI.
- Which cable I need to hook my Macbook up to the external monitor? Should I get a miniDisplayPort to VGA adapter or a miniDisplayPort to HDMI adapter? What is the difference?
- Does audio work if I hook it up? ie. will I get sound if I plug my headphones into my new external display (NOT into my macbook)?
- Do I have to run it as dual displays at all times? or can I close the lid of the macbook, but still have the computer running on my external display?
- If I get the new Macbook Pro (when it comes out), do I need a new cable? I heard that it runs using the thunderbolt connection, does that mean I will need to get a new thunderbolt to HDMI or VGA adapter cable?
- And lastly, do I have to buy the apple branded cable adapters? Or will other (cheaper) ones do?
Can I hook up a mac book pro to a monitor that i have?

The only serious (not homemade) solution is the Matrox TripleHead2Go DP Edition, but this solution only gives me a max resolution of 4080x768 (3x 1360x768).
Unfortunately I dont believe that would be enough to satisfy me needs.Â
