my airport express is in the other room so i can play my xbox360 online. but recently my express is flashing amber? and when i go to the airport utility i cant see my airport express.. so i just want to know how to get my airport express to get internet to it so i can plug and ethernet cord from my xbox360 to my airport express?

I have an AirPort Express which I use for AirTunes and to extend the wireless network of my Time Capsule. The Time Capsule is connected to my BT Home Hub (Modem/Router) via Bridge Mode, therefore, I run two networks in my home. The BT runs wireless G, and the TC, wireless N. Last week, my BT home hub was automatically restarting and cutting off the connection, this in-turn would cause the amber light to start flashing on the TC and AE. However, once the problem was fixed, the TC went back to green, but the AE still flashed amber. So today, I decided to move the AE to the same room as the TC and try to manually reset it using the push-pin hole on the bottom. That worked, but it only showed up in AirPort Utility for about 5 seconds before flashing amber and disappearing. I've tried re-setting it about 4 times, still with no avail.

I am still able to connect to the internet and my PC still recognizes the Airport Extreme in my Airport Utility. Is this just because it probably wants me to install the latest firmware? I currently have 7.4 installed, not 7.4.1. I heard that 7.4.1 isn't any good so I would like to leave it at 7.4 for now. Is that the reason why it is flashing amber? Should I install the latest firmware or just leave it alone? I just don't like it flashing amber when it should be solid green...As of right now, I can still connect to the internet without a problem.

After configuring wireless security on my Airport Extreme base station, the Airport Express I use to stream iTunes music to my whole-house stereo system has disappeared. Airport Utility can't see it. Yes, I checked connections. All I get is a blinking yellow light on the Express. The base station works as its supposed to.
I have a 17" Powerbook G4 with a 1.33 GHz Power PC processor. I'm running MacOS 10.5.8
AirPort Express doesn't show up in AirPort Utility 6.0. I haven't updated the AirPort utility on my laptop, and can find it there. 6.0 doesn't even has a scan button... I've done a hard reset of the AirPort Express, still isn't showing up.

I cannot find the Airport with Airport Utility and I have tried both a hard reset and a factory reset with no luck - it just keeps flashing.
Is there anything I can do or is it dead?

My macbook pro 13" 2011 was working fine all day. I left it for a bit and opened it up at the end of the day and it shut down as soon as the display booted up. I figured it just needed to charge and left it plugged in over night, but there was no change in the morning. MagSafe is blinking green/amber when plugged in. There is no respsonse from pressing and holding the power button, and the charging display lights on the side aren't lighting up either. I tried the SMC reset with no results. Other threads have suggested unplugging and reconnecting the battery connector inside the shell, but I can't find this connector in my model. I think it might be under the battery?

I have been using a time capsule for about 2 years. I use it as an external wireless hard disk as well as a router for extending my wi-fi network (connection via ethernet). Â
For the last couple of days, Airport Utility has been showing two time capsules connected to it. One is "HVS Airport Time Capsule" and the other is "Yogender's Time Capsule". The second one does not belong to me. I have no clue who's time capsule this is. A screenshot is also attached here (one on the right does not belong to me).Â
Does it mean someone is hacking into my wi-fi and using that via their time capsule? I've changed the wi-fi password (for my time capsule's network and the original network) several times, but it still shows up.
This unknown time capsule also shows up in the finder under "Shared". Â

I was trying to set up my airport extreme with my internet when I couldn't get anywhere because of the blinking yellow light. I have a 2wire at&t router that i connected with to the airport extreme via ethernet(the port in the back has a green light btw). I tried scanning for the airport extreme with airport utility but it couldn't find anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Airport Extreme, with two USB hard drives connected to it. The Airport Extreme shares these disks to my wireless network via Airport Disks.
Upstairs I have an Airport Express, that wirelessly connects to my Airport Extreme downstairs, and extends the wireless network so I get a good wireless reception upstairs.
My problem is, that it does not seem like me Airport Express does a good job of forwarding my 2 USB Airport Disks to the extended wireless network upstairs.
For example, when I use the AirVideo iPhone app to stream video from my USB Airport Disks I get a server connection error when I go upstairs and the iPad/iPhone switches to the Airport Express networks. I cannot reconnect as long as it is on the Airport Express network. If I turn the airport Express off, and thus switch to the poor wireless reception from the Airport Extreme, I can connect to the USB Airport disks again.
The Airport Express is connected to the Airport Extreme in bridged mode.
Just a question for those who have used the Airports. Can a USB hub be used to expand the number of devices the Airport can use? i.e., an external hd, a laserjet, and an inkjet.

There's a flashing folder at startup and won't boot. I've tried the disk utility on the install cd but it cannot be repaired. It repaired it once, but when restarted it happened again. Ive also tried to reset the pram (not ire if thats what its called) and tried recovery hd, but those didnt work either. I want to backup my files, mainly pictures, but don't know how or if it's even possible through disc utility. Airport Disk Utility just says "no airport disks found." Of course the HDD works fine when plugged in directly to the MBP. I've searched apple support and these forums, but haven't found anything that works yet. All help I have found says use the 'disk tab' in AE manual setup window. What do I do without a 'disk' tab? (or how do I get one?) is this a firmware/software issue with the AE?

I have two macbook pro's (wife and I both have one) and use it for my PS3 and Xbox 360. I started a new job and was given a free HP desktop (not my choice, but hey, it's free, so what can I say). The desktop is not wireless and I am not able to put my computer near the airport extreme because my TV already owns that territory. Today I bought the Airport express to use as a bridge (and other things in the future). I have plugged it in. I opened the airport utility using my macbook. It finds my extreme and my express. I select that I want to set up the express. I select that I want to set it up using an existing wireless network. I select my airport extreme. It tells me that it has to restart the express. I wait approximately 3 minutes. It then tells me that the settings to the express have been changed but it's not able to find it.
My main goal is to use the express as a bridge. I have the express plugged in beside the desktop and want to run an ethernet cable from the express to the desktop to allow for wireless capability.

I recently moved into a new apartment that has an Airport Express connected to a cable modem. The network does not have a password. I want to put a password on it so that not everyone in the building can use our internet.
When I connect to the Airport via the Airport Utility, it recognizes the Airport, but asks for a password when I try to configure it. I tried doing a soft reset on the Airport, but it didn't change anything. Are there two passwords for an Airport? If so, how can I bypass the second one? The "Resetting Airport Express" page at [URL] doesn't answer this question. Do I need to do a hard reset? If so, is there anything I need to know about that? We no longer have any of the original literature that came with the product.
I am upgrading from a g wireless router to an n. I have a Belkin right now that I hate. Neither I, on a mac, nor my roommate, on a PC, can get a consistent connection on it. Needless to say it's going back and I want to get an express or an extreme. I had actually bought an Airport Extreme first and it was lightening fast, but I was told that the Express was just as fast, so I went to exchange. The guy at BestBuy told me the Belkin was cheaper and just as fast, so I bought it. I would really like this to be my last trip to the store for a router. Do I need to shell out for the Extreme or is the Express just as fast if all you need is an n router?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought the new airport extreme to extend the wifi range in my household and hoped to share a hdd. Upon my experience and reading the forums, the sharing hdd is not as easy as I thought. But that is not my issue at the moment.
My issue is with extending the network. A couple weeks of ago, I did the setup to connect the two airport extremes together (older round AE & new box AE) using aiport utility. It seemed to have work because the signal was stronger in a part of the house that usually had 0 to 1 bar.
But shortly after, the signal showed itself as inconsistent. The signal strenght is jumpy from 0 to full bars. And right now, I am sitting in a part of the house that used to have 0 bars and now, I get full bars. And yet my mbp cannot see the newer, closer in distance AE.
I turned off my macbook pro last night, then when I went to turn it on this morning, I got a flashing folder with a question mark. So I ran lion internet recovery. Disk utility came up and so I tried to repair the disk and reinstall lion osx, the problem is my mac HD isn't showing up, so I couldn't run either. I haven't turned off my mac in a few weeks, I usually just put it to sleep at night or let it go idle. How to back-up my files.
