Making ICloud Play Nice With Google Apps

Jul 5, 2012

For work & personal use I currently do everything from my Macbook Pro (w/ the Lion OS). In the near future I will be upgrading to an iPhone so I am considering plunging deeper into the Apple Ecosytem and moving over to iCloud.I mostly do all my email/calendar adjustments from my desktop using Mail & iCal. However, if I am not near my computer and at a different desktop I would prefer logging into icloud online to view everything (both work and personal). Is this possible or will I only be able to view my personal icloud info?

Hardware :: Does Apple AirPort Extreme Play Nice With Windows PCs

Oct 14, 2009

I've been looking for a router that'll let me share a HD via network and wow.... pretty much everything D-Link has some weird proprietary something or rather. Linksys has a few but the only one I can find that's also dual band is the wrt610n.

My Macbook Pro is out of the country for a while so I'll primarily be using my desktop PC for a while, and I have a girlfriend who uses her windows PC with a a/b/g/n wifi card.

So what do you think guys? Will APE work for me, or should I be looking into something else?

Can I partition the drive so I can use a portion for time machine backup while I use the rest for storage via fat32?

Mac Mini :: Raid 1 Configuration Play Nice With Boot Camp?

Mar 8, 2010

I've been looking at the Mac Mini server for my next computer purchase, but I've had a few things confuse about the set up. I've seen at least one thread where someone got their Mini server to use RAID 1 settings on the dual internal drive set up.

What I want to know is will a RAID 1 configuration play nice with Boot Camp?

Is it even possible to use boot camp on a RAID 1 configuration?and if it is possible, would the RAID 1 duplicate the Bootcamp Partition too?

These are three important questions because I like the idea of the RAID 1 security and because I'll be pairing it with a Blu-ray drive I'd most likely have to install Windows via Boot Camp to watch them.

IMac :: Motorola Cable Box Won't Play Nice With 27" Mini DP IN Port!?

Aug 28, 2010

I gave my HDTV away to a friend in need so for now, I'd like to use my new iMac as a pseudo-TV. The mini DisplayPort on the 27 inchers allows for both audio and video to flow both IN and out of the iMac, so what do I need in order to get this working? What kind of software will I need to use?

I'm connecting the cable box through its HDMI port and on the other end I have attached the (quite pricey) HDMI-to-miniDP adapter. Do I still need some kind of tuner? My cable box is brand new and also has FireWire, USB, and Ethernet ports.

OS X Mavericks :: How To Send Emails From Google Apps On Mac

Jun 25, 2014

I have a Google Apps email account for college and I added it to Mail on my Mac (Mavericks 10.9.3, Mail 7.3). Emails sent to my Google Apps email come into my Mac fine. However, whenever I try to send something, it gets stuck in the outbox and never goes through. I end up copying the message, deleting the email in the outbox, and logging in on Safari to send the message. I don't want to do this every time I have to send an email with college. Is there any way I can set this up/fix it so I can send emails from my Mac? I have several different email accounts on there (AT&T, normal Gmail, and Google Apps) on my Mac and the other two accounts work perfectly fine.

OS X :: Making Leopard Mail To Play Notification Sounds?

Nov 29, 2007

I have recently thought I was going deaf because I was getting new mail and never hearing the sound for it. I thought maybe iTunes was on too loud or something. However, I've just done a test and no, Mail is definitely not playing the new mail sound. Speakers are the internal default ones, volume is up, but when I send mail to myself from a different Gmail account, when it arrives in Apple Mail there's no sound. This happens whether the app is active or in the background.

I'm sure I've heard it working a couple of times recently, but it's random and seems to be very much in the minority of occasions. Here's another weird thing it does - when I've received new mail during the day but Mail has been turned off, when I get home and open the application it searches for mail, downloads the new ones, and plays the 'No new mail' sound.

I've considered these things might be because I've already received the mail on my Blackberry, but this never used to happen in Tiger, and I'm using a POP Gmail service, not an IMAP one it shouldn't be able to tell I've already had them.

I have Dockstar installed but it worked fine with Dockstar before. Might it be causing a conflict somehow? Dockstar doesn't play any sounds, only changes how the mail notifications appear in the dock icon.

I don't use iChat so I don't know if this problem has affected other Apple apps. I've read some people having problems with that too.

MacBook Pro :: Making Lots Of Whirring / Clicking Noises And Slow In Opening Apps

Dec 5, 2014

My 100G space came up as full last night so I freed up about 15g. space, but now today I notice it is going way slow, taking forever to open or show data in files - eg if I click on the master application folder - the names of indiv. folders show but file content on right doesn't come up until about 30 secs, and the computer itself is making all sorts of whirring/clicking type sounds which i called "thinking" but it's as if the memory is still full and is operating at half it's speed.

I have a 2.16 GHz intel core duo processor, and memory is 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

Get info shows:  Capacity of 99.69GB, avail is 14.11 GB

Any tips on what has happened since last night to today? I thought it would be running faster and accessing files really easily.

I just got a pop up saying:  Your iDisk is unavailable.  Make sure you are logged in to your MObile ME acct, then try again to access your iDisk.

COuld this be the problem? I've never seen this before. What is my iDisk, and what does it do?

MacBook :: Play Button On Keyboard Controls Multiple Apps At Once - How To Fix It

Sep 9, 2010

I think this is a problem that started with Snow Leopard and I'm wondering if there's a solution to it yet.

Right now I have iTunes open playing music, as well as a paused video in VLC. When I press the play/pause button (F8) on my black late 2008 MacBook, it pauses iTunes but then unpauses the VLC video. This is obviously totally unwanted behavior. How do I fix this so that this button only controls one app at a time?
