1.) I was messing around and dragged the little hard drive icon onto the desk top as I wanted it to be displayed there. Far from it being displayed on the desk top it vanished in a wee puff of smoke .
2.) I have my old itunes library saved onto an external HD. Should I trnasfer all of this onto the new macbook prior to doing my first sync of my iphone?
I went to view>options and looked for "ringtone" in the list but it wasn't there. I don't know what happened to it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got an app that allows me to create ringtones by dragging them from my desktop to the "tones" folder under library in itunes. For some reason when my iphone is plugged in a tones folder only appears under devices and not under library.

I just moved my iTunes library from my laptop to my desktop. When I started itunes I noticed my applications had the name of the application but was missing the icon, i.e. showed an application icon and labeled below it was Pandora but was missing the Pandora icon. My music and movies were just fine. I right clicked on the file and selected get info. it returned "could not find original". I tried to sync and it deleted the applications from my iTouch. I see the application's icon when I bring up iTunes on my laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new MBP. I have a 1tb external drive with 250gb's of music. I have it attached to my mac via USB. I CANNOT GET ITUNES TO CREATE A NEW LIBRARY ON THE EXTERNAL DRIVE. I CANNOT DRAG AND DROP OR ADD FILE/FOLDER.
But get this, I hook it up to my old Dell and I can do whatever I want. I am friggin pissed that I spent all this money on Mac equip and can't get it going. You may have seen my other post where I posed my issue of: 1tb ethernet drive hooked to airport extreme. Above mentioned 1tb hooked up to back of it via usb. I am completely unable to copy, move, or add files using my mac. But guess what. my pc handles it easily and quickly.
So a few weeks ago I bought an external hard drive to put all my music (from multiple computers) on, with the plan of making it my itunes library that I would then only access from my macbook pro. Everything was working great. I got all the songs onto my macbook pro, and then began consolidating my library to the external hard drive. My plan was then to go into my macbook pro after everything had been transferred over to the external hard drive, and delete everything in my music folder to free up space.
Well, during the consolidation we must have had a power failure or something, because the computer shut down and thus stopped the transfer. Now, itunes is looking to my external drive for my music (some of which is there), but since the transfer stopped at some point before it was complete, there are a bunch of songs that didnt move, and therefore it can't "find". I havent deleted any of the stuff from my macbook pro music folder, so everything is still all there, but it is not looking there for my music.
I'm thinking of completely uninstalling itunes, reinstalling it, directing it to my macbook pro music folder (which in theory still has all my stuff) and then reconsolidating to the external hard drive.
for no reason at all, this morning when I went to lauch Itues it wont read my library. I reset in the "advanced" settings and it still wont read. What is going on?

I am unable to add content to my iTunes library. I'm running 10.6.1 and didn't start having issues until a day or two ago. I've tried dragging and dropping content (like I always do) and also using file add to library. Neither work!

When I first installed iTunes, I declined the option for iTunes to automatically change the mp3's file names to an organized format. For example, [windows], my 'My Music' folder is very disorganized with files that have the artist first, or just the song name, and even 01 'song name'.
Is there a way I can turn that setting back on so iTunes organizes everything for me? Or was I misinterpreting what it meant?
I just finished ripping my whole cd library to apple lossless, and I want to get it off my laptop onto my airdisk (a raid 1 500gbx2 drive upstairs, attached to my airport extreme base station.) I want to be able to see my locally stored (lower bit rate aac) stuff on my laptop and be able to connect to my "big" external lossless library when I want to, since I ideally don't want to keep this huge library on my hard drive in my macbook.

The Slideshow at the Mac Book Air works only with the pre existent sources "Sample Music" and "Theme Music". The remaining library is visible on the sourcing list, but when I select any musics, they do not pop up in the window below.

I've been using Liteicon for this, but since (apparently) you can't change the iTunes icon using it, I tried doing it by going to the applications folder, selecting iTunes, going to "get info" and then dragging the new icon to the top left corner where the iTunes icon is.
Problem is, it won't change. The cursor will change into a cursor with a little green ball with a + in it, but there is no effect. I tried unlocking the lock on the bottom right side of the window, made no difference.
I've googled this and searched this forum for a couple of hours, got nothing.
By the way, I changed the Firefox icon the same exact way, no problem. I'm running as an admin as well.
I just bought an ipad and it had icloud and when I attach the ipad to the macbook pro (running lion; up to date) it is not even recognizing that it is attached. I want to put the icloud on the macbook pro because it is not on there. When I go to system preferences and look for the icon for icloud it is not there. The instructions said that you have to go to system preferences and click on the icloud icon and follow the instructions but I show no icon.

I have experienced a problem after I updated to SL last night.I made a fresh install of both SL and iLife 09 on my mbp unibody late 2008.
Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?
I have used mac all my life but still seldom know what I am doing. I just got a new macbookpro and used migration assistant to transfer everything.
Most of my files, however, did not transfer, including my iphoto library.
When responses are posted to this question, they usually read something along the lines of "copy your iphoto library to so and so and import the library or click new album." I understand all that.
What I need to know is how to get the photos from my powerbookG4 to my new computer.
How to do I stop .ds_store from showing up on my desktop? I did something (can't remember) and now it keeps popping up after I delete the icon.

I have moved ALL my iTunes content (music, videos etc) to the Shared Music folder on my new WD MyBook World Edition 2 (just in case that's relevant info) and everytime my Mac attempts to load iTunes I have to repeatedly direct it to the library.xml file in the Shared Music folder.Surely there's a proper solution for this? Anyone else out there had this experience and has figured it out.I've noticed that it does this only the first time I open iTunes up, any subsequent bootup within a session is fine, but any restart of my Macbook Pro and I have to repeat this.

I just ordered a MBA 13" with the 256GB but I think I am only going to transfer stuff I watch listen to and use each day. I seem to spend hours fighting this thing each week, and just when I thought I was organized I find something else. How is everyone managing theirs?

None of the music is bought or downloaded I simply copied from Cd's I own. The podcast are free downloaded one. I have tried dragging the library to a flash drive and uploading it on the new Macbook and all I get are the playlist folders not the contents. I have tried the share feature through Mobile me and that does not work either. I can always make it the topic of my "one to one" training this week but this is the last item in moving everything from the old Macbook pro so I can give it to our Daughter. Migration assistant did not seem to work either.
