Sep 2, 2014Using an iMac 2011 with Mavericks 10.9.4. Been having issues with the Mail client leaving mail that has been read in the 'unread' smart box. The account is an IMAP, and I have done the empty the whole thing and start over routine, and that works. However I don't want to keep having to do this over and over, since some of my boxes are large.Â
is there something that I need to do on the other end of the IMAP, since the email is on a domain I own, not gmail or yahoo.

Apr 30, 2009Email recipients using Mac Mail have been reporting that when they get email from me (from Outlook2007 in the PC), it would include all the tags. Also happens when I send as RTF. Plain text is fine.
So I did an experiment and since I am a mac user too, I tested it myself on my mac mail. Test scenario is this:
1. I send email from Outlook2007 (PC) using HTML as default.
2. I open with Macmail, I get garbage. (see below and/or attached file for illustration.)
3. I open same email on Entourage, it's fine.
4. I open same email on webmail, it's fine.

Oct 29, 2009Lately I have received quite a few e-mails with various attachments that seem to require something other than quicktime to open. In most cases i get a message that says "Quicktime unable to read format" or words to that effect. Just wondering what other downloads there are out there that enable you to read more of the different formats.

May 30, 2012I have an icloud account which I use for personal use. We recently bought an ipad for the family and set up an icloud to be used for family viewing. I added to my mac the new account (lets call it it '[url]...') but it seems to be moving all the [url]... mail into my personal one on my mac. Since this is suppose to be family, I was hoping to have the email stay with the [url]... so both my husband I could monitor it. However, since my mac is merging it, it is deleted from ipad we share.
Is there anyone to set the mail preferences on my mac so the email stays with the [url]... account? I have tried all the preferences but not finding a way to keep the mail at [url]....

May 21, 2012I would like to be able to delete emails without having the program automatically "read" the next mail in the queue. This used to be possible but the mail program has changed and now I can no longer figure out how to do this. Now, after I clean out my Inbox by deleting emails, I have to go back and "unread" selected mails so I can remember to go back to them. I realize I could flag everything of importance but I prefer to save flags for specific emails, not just ones that I haven't read yet.

Oct 17, 2007The drive in my G5 tower will read/write commercial or blank CDs and will read/write blank DVDs, however, it will not read most commercial DVDs. When I insert them it tries to read it then after a few seconds it just spits them back out. Occasionally commercial DVDs will read and mount fine, but this seems to be rare.

Apr 22, 2012I just switched from Snow leopard to Lion and i don't like the way that Lion has the mail preview set up as a 3 column vertical format. I thought in Snow Leopard you could change the set-up so it's either horizontal or vertical, but I can't seem to find that option in Lion. I want to have the list of my email messages in the top, horizontal window and the preview of the selected message in a horizontal window below. Am I missing this option to change the view format from vertical to horizontal somewhere?

Jun 16, 2009I'm buying an external hard drive to use as a backup for my MacBook but also as a network drive that all the computers connected to my router (Airport Extreme) can use. There are two MacBooks and two PCs that connect to the network. I only need my MacBook to be able to write to the hard drive but I need the two PCs to be able to access and use the files on the hard drive. I was going to get a 1TB external and give it two partitions. The first partition is going to be the Time Machine backup for my MacBook and the other will be accessed by all computers on the network. What format will the second partition need to be so that both MacBooks and both PCs can view and use the files? Also what external hard drive would you recommend?

MacBook Pro :: Won't Read SD Card But Will Read CF Card With The Same Card Reader?
Dec 26, 2010As the title says, I have a card reader that works great with a CF card, but the MBP won't recognize an SD card. This is a new problem for me. I also have an express card adapter for SD that won't read the card, either. I have tried 4 different SD cards, and these exact cards have worked for me in the recent past (within the past 2 months). They work fine in the camera. I also tried connecting the camera via usb, which was unsuccessful. I tried blowing air on the cards and the reader. I cannot get the cards to be read on my wife's macbook. This makes no sense to me, as it worked fine the last time I tried. I find it hard to believe that all cards are corrupt, or the cable is the problem because it reads the CF card.

Aug 12, 2010I have an external Transcend HD, which has been working perfectly fine for around 5 months now. It is NTFS, and I use NTFS-3g and Macfuse. Been running fine. Was able to read and write. Suddenly I am only able to read though. I go into the "Get Info" pane and the option to choose whether I want to read and write, or read only is gone, and all that it says is "You can read only". getting this back to read and write is really appreciated. I really need this disk.
