I just deteled 2,000+ songs. "Didn't you backup your music?" Where do you think I deleted it from? Yes I am an ass. Big, hairy ass. But I am getting my purchased music back. But, all my "other" downloads are gone.
View 20 RepliesYesterday, I had to re-format my external hard drive so that it could be "recordable" within Pro Tools, which wasn't a major issue, I just had to move everything from my Lacie drive to another drive, do the format, and then throw it all back on. It took a little while but this also included moving my nearly 60gb itunes library. Now that it is on the newly formatted hard drive, itunes doesn't seem to be able to find the majority of the songs any more. I've tried changing the music folder and a few other things, and there is no way I'm going through and doing the "cant find music - click here to find it" palava. Is anyone aware of a way that you can "mass find" all of the music in any way other than starting the library again and adding all the music (I don't really want to lose all of my play counts and ratings if possible!)

View 1 Replies View Relatedso i just recently updated my ipad to the newest version a while ago and it turns out to be a bad idea since i've lost all my files on my ipad ! so i connected it to my mac (which i don't sync it with), update it, and then at the end everything's gone and i had photos and files there that i never saved elsewhere.Â
now i know it's supposed to be in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ but all i see in there are files of which i can make no sense of (the filenames are just random letters and numbers and they don't have any file extensions; they just open up on TextEdit)Â
so if it's not there, should i just resign myself to my fate ? this is extremely disappointing as i've had extremely important photos in my ipad

I'm looking for an app that will allow me to specify which folders I want to copy to my external drive, updating existing files within it and copying new ones.
I don't want to backup settings, my whole harddrive nor make a bootable backup. Just something to backup what I want to backup and where.
Not sure if Time Machine can do that, but it wants me to reformat my external before I can even find out..and considering how much is on there, I really don't want to have to remove that all elsewhere while doing so. [Don't think I could anyway, none of my internal drives have that much space.]
So, does anyone know of a relatively painless backup app that could do simply what I want? Doesn't sound all that complicated in comparison to some of the more convoluted backup apps I keep finding.

I get an exclamation mark in a grey circle in front of some of the songs in my "Music" library. When I try to play the song I get an error message: "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" I have put all my music on an external HD. In the Advance Preferences I have changed the "iTunes Media folder location" to the external hard drive and there are check marks before "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library". Why does it not find some songs?

I turned on my mac last night, and opened itunes (9) and went to start my music, *pop up*. I said, as I read the pop up saying it cant find the music. So I found it and fixed it, next one, WTF it cant find it either? 50 songs later and i come up with "Ok, its screwed" I have my music on a external HD, and never had this problem before, what gives? I did a clean up and everything, didnt help one bit. I've now made a new library and has dragged my old itunes music folder to the new one, anyone know why it broke?

I just opened iTunes and it is not seeing my music (at least not populating it) despite the location in preferences / advanced being the drobo. I have tried resetting it but nothing helps. I don't want to move the music onto the iMac I want to keep it on the drobo.

These have NOT been bought off iTunes - they are older than iTunes I put them on the computer from CDs.But for the same artist - about half of the music shows up - it seems to be whole CDs that don't. I tried highlighting the songs and making sure they actually had an artist - they do. They have albums listed, too. I have no idea what is going on. I checked the directory where they've always been and they're still there. External drive is alive and kicking, connected to my Macbook. This sucks because I've got a gajillion playlists. And my iPhone and iPad will no longer sync these playlists. I'd really hate to manually have to re-do all of my playlists again.

I reinstalled the latest version and that didn't solve the problem. I am using an Imac and OS 10.6.5. My Itunes version is 10.1.1.
I have some concert DVDs I put on my iPod and I switched the video kind (in info, under the video tab) from movie to music video. Problem is, now I can't find those concerts on iTunes, I can still view them on the iPod, but I can't find access to them through iTunes to edit info/delete them if I want to. Can anyone help me in finding them on iTunes?

I have recently started to re-rip most of my music collection in flac but as a result I am ending up with many duplicates. I have found many programs such as MrClean that find duplicates of songs but I do not want to accidentally delete the high quality mp3's or flac files. Is there any program that can do this for me? I would prefer it free but I would be willing to pay 10 dollars or so if the program is legit.
