MacBook Pro :: Won't Recognize Videos On Canon Vixia HG20
Jun 2, 2012
I have a Canon Vixia HG20 and had no trouble copying video to my Mac laptop in the past. Now I have a MacBook Pro and when I connect the camera with a USB cable, the videos are grayed out and the computer doesn't recognize them. The videos play fine on the camera itself. Also, the still photos show up on the computer and transfer easily. I've seen older posts & sites (2008, 2009) that are related to this issue, but I'm not sure they apply anymore.

I am new to the mac format, having just purchased my first imac a week ago. The first time I tried to import video files (in .mts format) from my Canon video camera through imovie, it worked perfectly. I tried to import additional videos today and imovie will not recognize my camera. I am connecting to the imac through usb and have the camera set to the computer input mode. Also, iphoto does recognize the .jpg photos that are on the camera's SD card. I've restarted the imac and reconnected the camcorder several times, but have not been able to get imovie import to work.
I've bought a Canon camcorder a few months ago and last week I got a MacBook Pro 15" with Final Cut Pro7, now I can start editing my videos but I don't know which FireWire cable I need to buy and use. I've got a MacBook guide with the laptop and I know that my MacBook Pro has a FireWire 800 port but I don't know if FireWire 800 would fit my Canon VVixia HF S10 camcorder's port. I don't know what port does my camcorder even have so that I know which FireWire cable to buy. So can you help me with this? Would the FireWire 800 fit for the Canon Vixia HF S10 or what do I have to do? I know the camcorder came with a USB cable but I don't really want to use that one, since FireWire it's much easier to use with Final Cut Pro7 than USB cable with all the save in Document first then open in FCP7. With FireWire it's easier to log and capture the video.
I am doing a school project where I need videos. How do you rip videos off Youtube and have them in the format for imovie (free). Also does anyone know how to rip videos off the c-span website?
I've recently upgraded to Lion and have found that Quicktime movies and embedded Flash movies won't work. With the embedded flash all I get is a black box, and with quicktime movies, such as the ones on the Apple website, I get nothing - the irony of not being able to watch movies on the Apple site with my Apple iMac gives me a little chuckle. Anyways ....... I've been reading thread after thread and trying lots of different things but nothing works. I've got this feeling inside that says it's something simple but just can't seem to find it.
I am getting nowhere with installing the Canon LiDE 210 scanner software on my 2010 MBP. All I get when I try to scan is "insufficient memory". I can scan using Image Capture and with the trial VueScan software so the problem looks as if it is something to do with the Canon software or the way that it installs on the MBP.
I've got several Apple computers in a network. I'm using a Canon multifunctional PM600R for printing. It's connected on a iMac DV with a USB-cable. I'm using a Vigor wireless router. It was alle working perfectly. With my Powerbook I could use the printer wireless. Recently I bought a MacBook with Leopard. Up until today I can't print wireless. When I connect the Canon printer directly (USB), it will print. But that's it. I've downloaded the most recent software from the Canon website. Unfortunately, it won't work. In printer configuration I just can't select the printer because it doesn't show up in the window of the Canon IJ network tool.
I recently bought a Canon Power Shot. I have used it and transferred photos to my Mac and didnt have any problems. Now all of a sudden, I turned it on, to import the pictures to the computer, and the camera just turns itself off and the Mac says no camera detected ! I dont know if this is a problem with the camera or the Mac. The camera works fine when actually taking pictures.Â
My MacBook, 5,1; OS 10.6.8 can't seem to print directly using my Canon Pixma MP 640htheÂ
It can find the printer as an IJ device via LAN, and it will tell me that the print job is being sent and that it has printed but nothing comes out. Same result when i connected it via USB cable. Have tried installing/reinstalling drivers from Canon and even once got it to print a test page. Â
I have a Canon Z200 camcorder. This unit has DV out to firewire. My MacBook only has USB inputs. How can I use my Canon Z200 with my MacBook? iogear has a USB/firewire hub will this work? Would I be able to plug my camera into the firewire of the hub then usb of the hub to the usb on my MacBook? I'm just wondering why I can't get a DV out to USB cable?
I just rediscovered my Canon Elura 100 camcorder and would like to use it and to be able to connect it to my brand new Macbook Pro (with Mac OSX 10.7.3). However, it is missing some parts such as a battery and firewire. Before I buy these things, I want to know if I will even be able to transfer videos from the camera to my computer, and if I will be able to edit them on iMovie, and generally how compatable the two are.I also want to know which firewire I can buy that will work to transfer videos from the camera to my computer. I have been looking on Amazon for the cable I think is appropriate (IEEE 1394) but the cable which have good reviews and seem to work are 4 pin/6 pin and I don't think those would fit in this computer; the ones with USB endings don't seem to work for most people.

Canon says "due to certain incompatibilities between Mac OS X Lion (10.7) and our previously released Mac OS X 10.6 Printer and Fax drivers, you may not be able to print and an error log file will be generated that could potentially fill up the hard drive of your Macintosh computer."[url]
Printer software for canon MP830 is unavailable from Apple. I downloaded the driver from canon and installed it. It shows on the desktop, but I cannot add the printer. It keeps wanting to find the software at apple. How do I configure this to work?

All of a sudden I cannot print to my Canon MF4370dn. I am connected via the wifi network. I didnt have a problem with any of this until a week ago. I called Comcast and they told me that they connections were good. I know this is true since my ADT service is working just fine and it is connected to this network.Â
I called Canon and they are not supportive at all. They tried to uninstall and reinstall printer but it still did not work.
I got a this printer from the free printer with new mac special and bought a class 1 bluetooth dongle from ebay.I connected it to the printer and opened the bluetooth set-up assistant and it recognized it by its name and model number. I set it up and everything appeared to be working normally but when i try to print i get the 306 error. does anyone know what to do?
