I left my mbp next to an open window on a very damp night after a few very damp days. In the monring it would not start after I pressed the power button, and the magsafe connector appeared to be dead, there was no light of any color. I used another magsafe whose light did turn on, and left it all plugged in overnight. In the morning it all turned on as if nothing had happened, and my magsafe appeared to be working fine. I had everything back up, and was lucky to be in town, but what do I do now to trouble shoot and make sure this doesn't happen again?
Having a problem with my power cord. 41% battery and i go to plug it in and the power cord does nothing. Changed outlets, cleaned ports on both ends, waited few minutes, and cursed at it and it still won't work.
My macbook pro won't charge again or even start up if it runs out of battery power, so I use my wife's power cable it charges and starts .. I have to charge it with her's for 20 min, then I can use mine and it works fine ..
I am thinking of using a solar panel setup to charge all of me and my family's MacBook's, iPhones, iPod, and iPads, and if anyone know the approximate number of watt-hours it takes to fully charge each of those you would make me very happy
So I have a friend with a MBP that puts the wiping cloth that came with the computer over the track pad and keyboard before he closes the screen. I just got my first MBP and starting doing this myself, but not over the keys just folded over the track pad. I do this because easy storage of the wipe...I guess. Anyways, will this cause screen damage, overheating, or anything else that I should know about?
I have a 2008 Macbook and when the power is plugged in, the light is green, however my battery will not charge, and it even says at the top "battery is not charging" If I remove the power cord from the computer it will still run off the remaining % of the battery, but If I reconnect the cord it lights up green and I never see the amber charging color. I traded out my battery as well as a different cord and still the same results. My battery will charge up on a friends macbook, but not on my own. I want to take it to the apple store but I'm at school and there is no store near me.
Whenever i plug the power cord into my mac book pro my computer never starts to charge? I have tryed this on various different outlets and have also tryed thsi with the two and three pronged adapters and it still is not working.
First of all, Noob imac owner here. I was just handed down an old imac g3 400mhz desktop that doesn't power at all. When hitting the power button on the unit or keyboard, the units screen makes a noise. No hard drive or green light comes on at all. At dead silence in the room, i can hear the screen flicker, like a tv would come on. I went to go about and read a few problems before, replaced the battery and even tried a new power cord. Any Ideas?
my friend got red halloween hair dye over her white macbook. tried to clean it with wipes and that didnt work. I used rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and tried to clean it. her keys are now pink.but now it wont turn on.did i just ruin it ?can the alcohol seep through the keys and get on the logic board and fry it?
Having an issue charging my mac. When I plug the charger into my mac, it turns orange, so I know its charging, but no matter how long I leave it in for it never has enough power to turn on.
If I move the charger around slightly at an angel in the hole it turns green and only then will it turn on, but the moment the green light goes back to orange the laptop turns off.
When I do manage to get it turned on, it says there is 0% battery.
I've tried using different chargers so could the problem be with the connector in the laptop?
Just checking to see if anyone else has had that this problem since upgrading to 10.6.2 I have an older MBP that is on its second battery. I dont normally use that battery as this is my only computer. it has about 61 cycles on it and seems to be in good health. the MBP turned its self off all of a sudden with about 60% charge left
After I executed automation and default clean up function with Onyx. After reboot Finder doesn't open anymore on the menu bar there are only three options: finder, files, help. I have to click on the finder menu and choose run full finder to get it back to work.
Launchpad simply doesn't show anything anymore
spotlight just disappeared...
Im able to create a new account and everything works fine. I have keychain in the current account so it will be better if I can fix this.
im looking for an application that will allow to charge the macbook automatically when the battery is down. so although the charger will be in the power input the laptop will not charge but only if its batter runs down.
this way there will be less power used since the laptop will charge only when it needs to
well it does charge just not how it should. when i plug the ibook into the power adapter usually nothing happens. i have to jiggle the plug in just the right way to get it to charge and this involves putting pressure on it in some direction. it has gotten worse so now i have to have constant pressure on it for it to charge. i have tried 2 different chargers so i know its not that. i was thinking maybe the DC board but i was not sure.
ive just upgraded my powerbook from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8 at my local apple store forgot to ask how to sync my iphone 4 to my mac,as it wont pick it up on itunes or charge via the usb cable? ive just upgraded to 5.1 on my iphone,do i need a newer version of itunes?
I am unable to charge my 4G iPod (plugged into wired Apple keyboard) under Bootcamp in Windows 7 (64-bit) running on my Mac Pro (4,1). As soon as I reboot into OS X, the iPod starts charging immediately. What do I have to do to get my iPod charging through my keyboard?
Basically I'm having issues with my newly acquired Powerbook G4. When i bought it the battery was not working at all so have now installed a new replacememnnt battery which works fine but having some slight issues. So...
First time I charged it, it reached 100% but green light never came on to indicate full charge. When I run the PB off the battery it gets to 20% and it shuts down without any warning it's low on battery (trying to switch it on after this is impossible, it clearly has no life) After the above I connect the power lead and start up the computer, the battery indicator starts charging from 20% onwards. Something fishy definitely going on and I have no idea what it could be, I calibrated the battery but it has always cut off at 20% since first charge/discharge.
I have a 1.67 GHz Powerbook G4. This morning it was fine. When I got home from work, it decided that it suddenly no longer wants to stay on when not plugged in. The battery is showing a full charge. The light on the plug is green. But the second I unplug the cord from the laptop, the entire thing shuts down.
Just bought a new 15 inch retina MBP. My question is...should I immediately charge the battery or let it run to zero first and then charge it? Does it even matter?
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 7.1.2, Retina, 15 Inch
Unfortunately I broke my macbook unibody (model A1278... this), I initially tried to sell pieces but I changed my mind. I decided to create a mediabox. When I disassembled the MacBook I realized that the power button is connected to the keyboard. This is a problem for me because i will not put the keyboard in mediabox. I must find a way to power on the macbook without the keyboard. This is the key for the power on.
So my USB KB was looking pretty grungy so got the bright (or not so bright) idea of cleaning it with windex. I sprayed a little on a paper towel and tried to gently clean the grunge off the keys. It is now clean, but the "D" and "E" keys do not work. Its been three days also so I figure if some liquid did spill under the keys they would be dry by now. Is this a good excuse to buy a new imac?
Before I opened it and cleaned it, it was going into safe boot, and even upon disconnecting everything except power and video, it still went into safe boot. It was then I decided I might as well clean it anyways. I cleaned off all the dust inside, down to the heatsinks, graphics card and everything. Reapplied new thermal grease to the CPUs and put everything back together. Now when I boot it nothing shows up on my screen and the fan for the graphics card runs at full speed, though everything else sounds normal. I booted it with just the power and video cable attached and got the same result.
Specs are as follows: Early 2006 Mac Pro 2.66 Dual Core Xeons (x2) 6GB Ram ATI x1900XT graphics card 250GB HDD Single super drive.
I was installing a new dvd player since my first one died a month out of warranty. I had the top cover/keyboard out, with the cable still connected. All of a sudden the keyboard stopped responding, and now I can't power on the laptop. Is it easy to damage the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard? I was somewhat rough with it, but I am worried that I will order the whole assembly and it still won't work? I cracked the cover while doing the install, so I do need one anyway.
Is there any way to power it on without a keyboard? Are they crazy expensive at the mac store? Can they hook one up and test it or do I have to leave it there? I have too much important data to let someone have access to my hard drive. This is incredibly urgent since I cant get to my work data, and I am self employed. I had to borrow a 10 yr old computer to get internet access.
I got home tonight, placed my MBP on my BookArc after plugging in the Display port adapter, USB, Firewire and Magsafe to then realise that I couldn't turn on my MBP without taking it off the cradle, opening it and pressing the on button! "This can't be right" was what went through my mind, but is it? There surely must be a way to turn on a MBP when it is attached to an Apple Cinema display and a USB Apple Keyboard while in the closed clamshell state. Surely there's a key-combination.
