I have a 1.67 GHz Powerbook G4. This morning it was fine. When I got home from work, it decided that it suddenly no longer wants to stay on when not plugged in. The battery is showing a full charge. The light on the plug is green. But the second I unplug the cord from the laptop, the entire thing shuts down.

First time I charged it, it reached 100% but green light never came on to indicate full charge. When I run the PB off the battery it gets to 20% and it shuts down without any warning it's low on battery (trying to switch it on after this is impossible, it clearly has no life) After the above I connect the power lead and start up the computer, the battery indicator starts charging from 20% onwards. Something fishy definitely going on and I have no idea what it could be, I calibrated the battery but it has always cut off at 20% since first charge/discharge.
I bought a 3rd party battery for my MBP. I put it in and after cycling the battery i noticed that the full charge capacity was only 3990mAh (supposed to be 5500mAh). I returned the battery today and got and an upgraded replacement. this shows the full charge capacity at 4995mAh (supposed to be 5600mAh).
is this normal. Do I just need to give it some time or is it something with the batteries.
Why is my Mac not at 100% battery after having it powered off and plugged in charging all night? As long as my charger is plugged in shouldn't it be at 100%? I never unplug it. It shows it is charging but stays at a constant 98%.

Some days ago i finally added a Powerbook g4 to my Mac collection and since then ive been trying to fix this computer without any results. The Powerbook had the battery dead at first and i had to replace it with a new one i had. Now the problem/weird thing is that the computer detects the battery but it doesnt charge. It has about 18% of the charge and when i try to boot up all i hear is like a fan sound and nothing more, no boot up sound and no image on the screen.
If i boot up using the power cable thats when i see the 18% of the battery icon, but as soon as i take out the power cord, the image goes black although the computer still makes sounds as if it was on. Does it have any solution? PS: ive tried to reset the PMU,changed the pRam for a new one, reset the Nvram.
I have a 1.33Ghz 12" powerbook and recently it has started to just shut off when the battery is saying it has around a half hour left, instead of it warning me that the battery is low and it will go to sleep soon. and then it won't restart until I plug it in. is there any way for me to fix this besides getting a new battery? This battery is not covered under any recalls, and there is no applecare left on the computer. also if it matters the computer is running 10.4.10.

The battery indicator showed one flickering power circle. The adaptor has the green circle on it, indicating the battery has a full charge. However, the computer won't charge up.I've read the 12 inchers don't have separate PMUs. Could that prevent the machine from starting? She was using it earlier this evening, as she e-mailed me pictures from our vacation.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving an issue charging my mac. When I plug the charger into my mac, it turns orange, so I know its charging, but no matter how long I leave it in for it never has enough power to turn on.
If I move the charger around slightly at an angel in the hole it turns green and only then will it turn on, but the moment the green light goes back to orange the laptop turns off.
When I do manage to get it turned on, it says there is 0% battery.
I've tried using different chargers so could the problem be with the connector in the laptop?
I received my new 15", i7, 128gb ssd, 8gb ram macbook pro on april 19th. I love it and have no problems. Have any of you guys noticed that the full charge battery capacity, which is found under system profiler-power, varies often. When I first got the macbook pro the full charge capacity of the battery was around 6830. Now with each charge it seems to go down slowly. At first it jumped from 6800 to 6600 and now stays at around 6520. Is this normal?

I have a week old 11.6" MacBook Air. The battery has 3 cycles. However, using Coconut battery the battery capacity is showing 96% fully charged. Would that be unusual after 3 cycles?

According to this report, the MBP got around 3&1/2hrs of run time with a dimmed screen and watching videos. From a full charge, I start browsing the internet (no videos at all), and my battery reading read as follows
91% 1hr, 16mins
90% 1hr, 20mins
89% 1hr, 24mins
87% 1hr, 23mins
Not only were the readings all over the place, but even from a full near charge I wasn't even getting an estimate of 2hrs, while Apple advertised 4 for the late 2008 model, and the review I linked to says they got 3&1/2. Do I have a bad battery, or does simply running the 9600 reduce the battery life by such a drastic amount? I have already calibrated my battery following the guide on the Apple website.
I have brought Apples new battery charger. But when the battery is charged and i use them in my mouse, they are only charged up to around 69%-74%. I have tryed it two times, and both it is between that number.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife's Macbook 2.1 is acting strangely. The Battery indicator led's are full (green) the charger led is also green and the software shows 100% battery is charged. After a couple of seconds after disconnecting the charger it switches off. I've tried resetting the SMC and this allowed a full nights use without the charger but on the next day it went back to only holding for a couple of seconds. I don't want to have to reset the SMC every day. It's running on 10.5.8 and is all up to date.

I've checked with coconut battery and when the computer stops at 70% I still have like 1700 mAh...I've reset PRAM, power management, etc...
Of course my battery is old, but it should work until 00%... not stop at 70%. Before I spend like 100$ (that is what a macbook pro battery costs here in Mexico) I'm willing to try anything...
I have a Week 01 MacBook Air, and I just started to notice that my MBA has not been performing its best since I bought it.
This morning I at 0745am, but now its 0831 and my battery is now at 53%; is there something wrong? I took a stopwatch and averaged it at about 53-55 seconds where the battery will drop 1%.
According to coconut battery, current battery capacity is 4670 and original battery capacity is 5090, and the system profiler says that I'm at 31 charge cycles. And YES, i've reset the PRAM, PMU/SMC, and calibrated my battery
Just checking to see if anyone else has had that this problem since upgrading to 10.6.2 I have an older MBP that is on its second battery. I dont normally use that battery as this is my only computer. it has about 61 cycles on it and seems to be in good health. the MBP turned its self off all of a sudden with about 60% charge left

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy 1.67ghz, 15" high resolution, Powerbook seems to be broken. I use my laptop all day every day on battery power, and charge it through the night. Today, when I got home, it drew no charge from the adaptor. I have a backup iBook G3 which still charges perfectly off the same adapter, yet the Powerbook doesn't. I have left plugged in for about 45 minutes now, but still no charge, so the computer won't start up. I have a lot of important work on this computer, so I at least need some way of getting my data off it without ripping it apart to remove the HD. What should I do? I suspect that the power port in the laptop is somehow deformed, and thus is not making a connection. If this is the poblem, will it mean a new logic board?

My powerbook G4 has a button thats used to unhinge the LCD screen and flip the computer open. When I flip it open, the light turns on, but it should be off. If I pull the LCD screen forward as if I am going to close the screen, the light turns off as I am pulling the screen forward. As soon as I stop the motion, the power light goes back on. Its very odd.

I traded out my battery as well as a different cord and still the same results. My battery will charge up on a friends macbook, but not on my own. I want to take it to the apple store but I'm at school and there is no store near me.

I've tried to restart the iBook, and I've removed the battery from it also.
