Are there any ports on the retina display MacBook pro that are compatible with a lock?

Can I park a 64GB SDEC in the Pro-Retina's SDEC slot, such as a Lexar or Sandisk, and use it as a slow drive? Will it show up like a thumb drive in a USB port? There are no Flash USB 3 thumbdrives on the Apple Store site that I can find. Will over-the-counter USB 3 thumbs from stores work? Or do they have to say Mac compatible?

It's been a while since I've been to these forums but I've come across another issue.
I bought this refurbished Macbook from Apple on November 26, 2008 (model MB061LL/B).
How do software that aren't retina compatible yet look on the MBP Retina Display? From my own experience as a developer when using regular sized images and resolutions on the iPhone 4, they come out as blurry. I was thinking perhaps the same thing will occur if the software isn't retina compatible? I e 2x in GUI size and scaled down?
View 14 Replies View RelatedReason I ask, is I will be moving into my dorm room at 8am tomorrow(WHOOOOOOOO), but now I have been thinking about my MBP and security/ theft.
At work we have about 20 lock cables just sitting around, and I am thinking about grabbing one. Does anyone use these? are they pretty secure?
Is there a solution to this problem? I am planning to use my MBA at work and it requires me, at some times during the day, to leave my notebook unattended while I go off and do other tasks. Unfortunately, I don't have my own office and I share a work area with other people. Any suggestions?

I heard the Kensington sd200v dock is nice, and OS X drivers are in beta. Anyone running this setup on their Mac? I really need the ability to unplug and go at the drop of a hat. The prospect of outputting graphics for an extended desktop, audio, and a USB hub all through one USB connection is VERY attractive. Needless to say, it will all be in vain if I need to reset my graphics properties every time a disconnect and reattach. I have no experience with Kensington products, and ma curious how well they function in the Mac environment.
This is pretty cool, looks perfect for the macbook air.

I had decided to get a retina MacBook Pro earlier, but I have grown tired of never finding them in the stores. Now I am wondering if the non retina would be the best way to go.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to set up a mac pro using Slots 1 & 2 for RME ADAT digital audio cards and move the graphics card (geforce GT 120 512mb) to slot 3 or 4 so that I can maximize slot speeds for multiple audio playback via logic. Is this possible?

I like the Kensington Slimblade media mouse--neat idea being able to flip it over and use it as a remote.
Until, that is, I discovered the hard way that if you lose your USB receiver or it breaks, you just junked your mouse.
I have been using a caculator software product called Kensington Adding Machine (v.1.01) on my Macintosh computers for the last 12 years.
While the software is compatible with Mac OS 10 via Mac Classic the new Intel based Macs won't support Mac Classic. Hence I will be unable to use Kensington Adding Machine software when I next upgrade.
The version I'm using is dated 1993 Kensington Microware Limited. No one at Kennsington today even remembers the product.
I have tried many times over the years to find an alternative software product that does what Kensington Adding Machine does. It adds, subtracts, multiplies, divides, has a floating decimal point, it has a paper tape, it saves and prints and it has a small footprint on my desktop and sits in a 2.5" x 3" corner of my 17" Powerbook desktop. It even sounds like an adding machine or calculator when one enters numbers--- reassuring the user that his/her numbers actually got entered.
Nothing I've found on the internet (including Version Tracker) or in catalogs duplicates the simplicity, inconspicuousness and overall effectiveness of Kensington Adding Machine. As a financial person who works off of three laptop computers, I've found nothing on either platform that does what the Kensington Adding Machine does.
Last week my company moved locations. I carefully packed up my mac pro in the original box, and transported it myself, so there were no drops or anything like that.
Once I installed the computer in my new office, a USB hub stopped working.
Today, my new monitor arrived. A Samsung SyncMaster 245BW. After I installed that, my Kensington PRO Trackball is not recognized. I uninstalled/reinstalled the Kensington MouseWorks software, but still it is not recognized.
Did anyone tested this Kensington Dual Monitor Adapter on iMac. I currently have one monitor connected to my iMac and I wouls love to add another one I am just not sure if this is going to work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe SD card slot is only available on the 13 inch MBA. I'm just wondering if anyone has used it yet?I have an SD card in my digital camera but I'm not a huge picture taker so I haven't used it. I'm thinking of getting a 32GB SD card for extra storage to slide in there.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNo security slot is standing between me and an mba. Is there a solution short of a bicycle lock? Will they rectify this next version? I always cable lock my pro in a coffee shop. As Kissinger said, even paranoids have real thieves waiting to snatch their laptops.

View 24 Replies View Relatedthis probably has gotten asked like 1123 times, but do you guys think apple will release the sd in the 17" any time soon?
why did they add it to the 13 and 15 but not the 17?
I called apple today to ask about upgrade to 8GB RAM. They told me that the MBP i7 has 4 slots and since I already have 4 GB I only need to buy 2x2Gb only. I don't know if this is correct??
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo i finally figured out what has been causing all of my kernel panics. Either the brackets or the notches that are holding the second ram stick in place have become faulty. The second ram stick permanently stays in the upright position, and if i do manage to get it parallel to everything, it can jump up at a moments notice if I do something with my computer. This is clearly a manufacturer's defect, but i dont have any warranty left. So i was wondering if any of you guys know where i can get a new ram slot since it doesnt seem to be like it is soldered to the logic board. I had 4gb, now im running on one 2gb stick, and basically the computer is nearly unusable in its current state.

I burned an ISO image file to a blank DVD and it ran fine on my desktop, but I when I put it in my MBP, it said my DVD is blank.
I put in a DVD movie I just bought, and when I insert it it just try's to run but eventually gets ejected.
I just got my macbook pro on monday and today when plugging in my keyboard and mouse into the 1st USB I notice it's not working. I plug them into the 2nd and it works fine.
Is this going to be a hardware issue? I'm sort of gutted, I thought I had a perfect one and now I find something isn't working as it should be.
Can anyone confirm that there is no SD slot on the 11.6 model? If that's the case, then it's not really a workable solution.
View 24 Replies View RelatedGranted I have no clue if the previous generation MBAs had a lock slot, but I've noticed the new ones don't seem to have a lock slot any where on them, is this true ? or is it well hidden that it doesn't show up on all the pics I've seen. I'm specifically talking about the 13" Air.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to put an SD Card slot into the RevC MBA?, I just read that an SD card can be used to boot the MBP in case the HDD Fails. I would think that Apple might be able to squeeze a SD Slot in there to make the MBA even better. Also, the Rev-D should have the SD-Card Slot and a standard 4GB RAM.
