I've only brought it about 4 or 5 weeks ago and today I've just heard a like a really faint rattle like click sound? if i put my ear to it it sounds like its coming from the fan? i haven't dropped it or damaged it so what could it be?
View 2 RepliesAbout 90% of the time, I am using the MBP on the couch while watching TV. When I pick up the MBP to move it around, the HDD makes a quiet "CLICK" sound... It does it more when the base is slightly vertical if that helps. Is this by design? The first thing I thought it might be doing is preparing for a drop by stopping the read/write. Then again, it may be the ugly sound of a dying HDD. I should probably tell you what I have. Spring 2010 MBP. Specs are in signature.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some odd reason, I have been experiencing some creaking when I move the display of my Unibody 15.5" Macbook Pro. At all. It just is very annoying, as it has a distinct plastiky sound to it, and it was not there to begin with. I don't know if this matters, but I have a Speck clear case that I used, but then I took it off because it seemed to be twisting the display a bit. Is this creaking a known issue with the Unibodies, or is it just because of the Speck case? I have never dropped my computer, and it has never been mistreated. It just leads its life on my desk or in my laptop bag. Any ideas?

Every time I depress my trackpad (the one built into my MBP 15" mid 2009) It is doing a slight squeak...Now I'm meticulous about how well I keep my beloved MBP... but I do use it everyday for many things (Including design, word processing, accounts, pwning the microsoft network at my office)
But I am guessing that these things are built to last... and shouldn't have an effect on how much I have used it right... Should I take it to Apple and let them have a look at it is there a quick thing that I can do to mend it? Or should I just get over it and accept it as quirk of it's character?
Every 20 minutes or so, I hear a strange sound as though I've pressed the wrong key or something. I've tried closing all of my apps as well as restarting my computer but I keep hearing it. It is literally driving me crazy.

Whenever an application uses the internet, such as Opera, Safari or aMSNn the speakers create a static, crackling sound thats incredibly annoying. The only way to get rid of it is to shut down the app that makes it (usually aMSN or Safari) but it may start again soon. It must be an issue wtih the speakers as it doesn't have any effect on headphones.

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor the past few days my MBP has been slow. Ridiculously slow. Beachballing to open safari etc. I have just noticed that as it tries to load things it makes a weird sound. A short burring sounds followed by a long one then a short one. Don't know if that is relevant. Earlier today it froze so i had to do a hard shutdown (hold down the power button) and then it wouldn't boot. I ended up booting it off the snow leopard disc. This problem seemed to start when i started playing wow again but i had it installed for a long time. Could this be heat related?

After I've just done it, it won't happen again until I leave it sitting in one position for a while. 13" MBP Is it going to break and if it does will apple replace it?

I know this question or thread has been asked a lot, but I started noticing yesterday that my mbp has been making this weird ticking sound. It was a light clicking sound, and it happened on and off. However, it was bothering me so I went to best buy (where I bought my macbook) and told them about it; they said they couldn't do anything for me because it probably wasn't my hard drive. They told me to wait until my computer slows down and then bring it in. But today the sound got worse, it sounds like white noise from the tv or some static from a really bad connection.It usually happens when I turn it on and while I'm using it. Some of my friends think it's over-heating but I doubt that's the case?

out of the blue something weird started happening. When i would press the up and down volume keys on the keyboard, no sound is coming out. When i raise or lower the volume from the top status bar, that little click is audible, but when i press the up and down keys from the keyboard, no sound comes out. is this a hardware problem? will apple replace/fix this? could i have muted it or something or is this like i said, a hardware problem?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen the sound on my MacBook is muted, and there should be a sound playing (FOR EXAMPLE: EMPTY TRASH), the speakers click. It is almost like the sound wants to play, but does not, instead with a click. This happens every time.
EDIT: It also clicks before it plays a sound too. This happens only when the speakers are not used for a long time. Like a few hours.
I recently bought a Macbook Pro and it starts worrying me that it makes a 'click' sound.
It's done it all the time but now I start worrying whether or not it's normal. It doesn't do it all the time. It comes now and then. It's not loud.

So I just partitioned my drive to install Windows and noticed that my hard drive is now making that "crunching" sound that some hard drives make. It started during my Windows installation, and it happens regularly in Windows.
I also briefly hear it while OSX is starting up, but it doesn't seem to happen much in OSX. I've launched a bunch of applications and it is still pretty much silent.
Any ideas what could cause this? Could it be NTFS? I have several hard drives in my PC that don't make that sound. I am using a 17" MacBook Pro unibody with the regular 320gb 5400rpm drive that it comes with.
I just bought the macbook 13" (white casing) today and the first thing I noticed when I turned it on was the fan, it was extremely loud!! I let it run for awhile and it was still constantly loud. Then I tried rebooting twice and still the same problem. My room is only around mid 60F. Is there some function I'm supposed to turn off? Or did I get a lemon macbook?
