After upgrading to Lion (10.7.3) it started this anoying beep sound that is almost unbearable. Also, I upgraded to Lion so that my Mac could run faster, but I am more disappointed now!

I just bought the macbook 13" (white casing) today and the first thing I noticed when I turned it on was the fan, it was extremely loud!! I let it run for awhile and it was still constantly loud. Then I tried rebooting twice and still the same problem. My room is only around mid 60F. Is there some function I'm supposed to turn off? Or did I get a lemon macbook?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy family just recently upgraded from an old PC to this 27" iMac, during the early part of the summer. While using it over the last little while, I would notice a noise that sounded like a harddrive spinning or possibly some sort of a fan noise. The best way to describe it would probably be as digital noise. It's not incredibly loud, but it's a decent volume, and can get quite annoying. It has a little bit of a squeak to it.
Over the last little while, it's become more constant. When the computer is in use, it'll usually occur quite often. It's quite annoying and obtrusive when I'm watching videos and I'd like to know what it could be.I think our computer is still under warranty, so I'm hoping to find out if it is something wrong, so I can get it replaced.
I've also been wondering if it's a fan, or a regular noise. However, it's so constant that I'm starting to wonder. The other night, I was watching a video and it seemed like it was coming on every 30 seconds for a long span of time. We don't run any memory heavy programs on this computer. If anything, we're just using Firefox, iTunes and/or Messenger. Sometimes Office. There's little to nothing stored on this computer, as it's brand new, so most of its memory is free.
I don't normally have my sound on, but I have of late. It seems that my keys may be sticking, or trackpad, or mouse .. Â
Symptoms: I can hear constant beeping, like you are clicking on a link that is not working, you get that Ding/beep. It is constant, like your continuing hitting the enter button on a link that is not working.Â
I reboot and the sound stops. I don't think it is the mouse - and I do not always have it turned on. Sometimes also when I log in, when you type password, there are characters already entered, and it keeps going ... I have to hard reboot.Â
As far as I know I have not dropped this laptop, nothing has been dropped on it. I can not see if any of the keys are pushed in, and the trackpad looks normal.Â

I bought a 15" macbook pro in june of 2011 and its been working fine. However a couple days ago it started beeping at me. This only happens when I'm listening to music on iTunes, and it is a series of three beeps.

I have had my MBA for almost a week, and I've had no issues so far. Until now. This is the case: The fan operates as it should. It stays on 2500 rpm at light use, and increases with heavier use. At 2500 rpm I was not able to hear it without putting my ear next to the keyboard. That was yesterday. Today the fan produces a new noise. It isn't very loud, but clearly audible at 2500 rpm in a quiet environment. It's a low, constant, buzzing kind of noise. It also increases with fan speed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook pro 2009 (2,26Ghz, 160 GB HDD, all Apple original parts) which is only a few months old. It has never failed me and I love it. Until now. I usually just put it to sleep when I am done with it but yesterday I turned it off. Now this morning when I press the power button the mac booting up sound beeps and everything seems normal. The White screen with the apple logo comes on and it starts working. After that however a blue background appears and that "clock"-wheel-thing that spins comes up, then it goes away, then it comes back and spins some more, then it goes away and so on. Nothing else happens.
I tried turning it off and botting up again a few times but the same thing happens every time. I put in the installation-cd (Leopard) and held down c while I booted up, this seemed to be working at first, the installation menus came up and I chose that option that re-installs OSX while keeping the files on the hard drive. After a few minutes into the installation however I got a message that said (rough translation). "The installation failed. Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer. The installation could not install certain files on "/Volumes/MacintoshHD". What does this mean? Has my harddrive failed or what seems to be the problem?
I have had no problems with my MacBook Pro until recently. I am working on a summer research project so I do not usually get the time to visit an Apple Store, turn in my computer for a day and wait. Â
When I lift my computer while its still on, it gives me a weird beeping noise which won't stop. I always have to manually shut it down by using the power button. It work perfectly well when I switch it on again. But if I lift it in the air or if it gets out of sync with the line of gravity, the same beeping occurs. Â
I guess I heard some particle go around inside my Mac when I tried to tilt it when in power off mode. Should I open it and check or is it too bad?Â
At present, I am backing up my research data. My work would suffer a lot if I have to submit my computer for repairs even for a single day.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis started happening randomly earlier tonight, and I haven't managed to find a fix just yet.I was encoding a video file for quite awhile (I don't think that parts important, but I thought I'd include it anyway) and then I tried to play a youtube video. I noticed there was no sound, so I tried to up the volume using the Volume Up key on the keyboard. The volume visualisation appeared on the screen like normal (albeit a bit laggy), but the sound still didn't change, neither did I get the usual 'click' noise you get when you change the volume.I went looking into the sound options in the system prefs. only to find that the Output Sound device was headphones. For a test I plugged in some headphones to see what happened and, low and behold, the Output Sound device changed to the Internal Sound and my speakers were working again, but only with the headphones plugged in.

It's not really loud, but it is noticeable and annoying after a while. It stops if I put the computer in sleep mode or turn it off, but it starts back up the moment I turn it back on again. It sounds like it is coming from the bottom of the screen near the speakers. I have tried adjusting the brightness and volume, but to no avail. I also tried lifting the computer off the desk to see if it was just vibration, but that did not make a difference either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some odd reason, I have been experiencing some creaking when I move the display of my Unibody 15.5" Macbook Pro. At all. It just is very annoying, as it has a distinct plastiky sound to it, and it was not there to begin with. I don't know if this matters, but I have a Speck clear case that I used, but then I took it off because it seemed to be twisting the display a bit. Is this creaking a known issue with the Unibodies, or is it just because of the Speck case? I have never dropped my computer, and it has never been mistreated. It just leads its life on my desk or in my laptop bag. Any ideas?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running the 27" iMac with dual hard drives and have recently upgraded to Lion. Two things are happening.
1. On cold start / boot up, my system has no sound. And by no sound I mean - no sound. When I go to the Sound option in System Preferences, everything is greyed out and I can not adjust or access any of the controls. The only solution has been to immediately restart my computer. After restart, everything is fine.
2. On cold start / boot up, sometimes I receive a pop up telling me that TestGen is not installed properly and to please re-start. Of course, since I have no sound I'm automatically doing that.
Lastly, and I'm not adding this to the list because there is already a thread about it . . but I will mention it I am getting error messages trying to play certain videos "This video requires Quicktime which is not supported by this version of iTunes."The workaround is that you apparently have to delete the video from your Library -- DO NOT DELETE FILE FROM HARD DRIVE -- and re-add to your Library.

I added 2GB of Memory to my imac (early 2008), initially removed the old 1GB, would not start and got a beeping sound, moved the new 2Gb to the empty slot, and added the old 1GB to a slot, started fine but the PC would not recognize the new 2GB. Finally added another 2 GB, took the old 1GB out and would not start again and gave off the beeping sound. Other than not putting them in correctly because that was done numerous times?

Every time I depress my trackpad (the one built into my MBP 15" mid 2009) It is doing a slight squeak...Now I'm meticulous about how well I keep my beloved MBP... but I do use it everyday for many things (Including design, word processing, accounts, pwning the microsoft network at my office)
But I am guessing that these things are built to last... and shouldn't have an effect on how much I have used it right... Should I take it to Apple and let them have a look at it is there a quick thing that I can do to mend it? Or should I just get over it and accept it as quirk of it's character?
Every 20 minutes or so, I hear a strange sound as though I've pressed the wrong key or something. I've tried closing all of my apps as well as restarting my computer but I keep hearing it. It is literally driving me crazy.

I lost my macbook speakers sound after instalation, there is grey icon and I can't control volume. Please let me know all possible ways to resolve problem. Btw,after reboot I heard sound when mac loads, and its working when I using headphones. When I start iTunes, and plug out head phones there is a red light. When I close iTunes red light disapears. Whenever an application uses the internet, such as Opera, Safari or aMSNn the speakers create a static, crackling sound thats incredibly annoying. The only way to get rid of it is to shut down the app that makes it (usually aMSN or Safari) but it may start again soon. It must be an issue wtih the speakers as it doesn't have any effect on headphones.

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor the past few days my MBP has been slow. Ridiculously slow. Beachballing to open safari etc. I have just noticed that as it tries to load things it makes a weird sound. A short burring sounds followed by a long one then a short one. Don't know if that is relevant. Earlier today it froze so i had to do a hard shutdown (hold down the power button) and then it wouldn't boot. I ended up booting it off the snow leopard disc. This problem seemed to start when i started playing wow again but i had it installed for a long time. Could this be heat related?
