I just recently upgraded my safari ( or something else don't quiet remember but i got the newer version of something) it asked to restart my computer to complete the download... well I don't quiet remember my user and password. sorry but I'm pregnant and my memory sucks. So it gives me this black screen asking my info like

I just installed SwitchRsX which is an app which allows you to create a custom resolution for your display (so instead of 1680x1050, you could do 1680x960).
As a last resort, if you can't even start SwitchResX itself, you'll have to delete the monitor profile that was modified when you created a new custom resolution. This file is located in /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/ and is the last modified file, that you can find if you sort by date. You should remove this file, if you can access the file system, either by 1) accessing the file system from an other Mac on the network, from ssh or by mounting a shared folders. 2) OR starting up in single user mode (or safe mode) 3) OR at last resort: reinstalling the OS above the existing install, which will keep your existing profiles, but remove the system modified files.
New to Mac computers. When trying to open computer after being in sleep mode, I clicked the mouse to open the password screen, & a blank blue/black screen appeared & the mouse timer( colored circle) appeared, as if to be waiting. I had to unplug the computer to reboot it. This has happened twice in 2 days.
I went to the Genius bar and they told me to Control, Option, P, R on a reboot to restore the settings, but with a wireless KeyBoard it does not work. I installed my standard PC keyboard, but am not sure what keys renase the display back to factory settings.
I'm working on a Mac-mini running OS X Tiger. I've got one admin account setup and 5 or so standard accounts. I'm configuring a connection to a shared folder on a network server on the standard accounts and I wanted to connect to that share using an account id that is DIFFERENT than the standard account id. I enter that id and the correct password and I check "save password in keychain" (or whatever that check box says) and I get prompted to enter the "keychain password" to unlock the keychain. The problem is, I never setup a keychain password for the standard user account. I'v tried the password for the administrator account (even though I can't specify the admin id anywhere) and I've tried the password for the standard user account, neither of which work.
However, I can still get successfully connected to the shared folder. I just don't want the user to have to enter the password each time they login.
Additionally, after going through this, Safari is now asking for a keychain password for the "login" keychain when it first starts up and loads the default Apple.com home page.
I can't remember what the password was because I stopped using that laptop for a while.And now I can't update my computer or do anything and it's really slow.
After installing new hard drive and transferring time machine data, my MacBook Pro is Refusing to recognise my password even after I have reset it using the startup disk. I enter user password on my admin user account and it goes blue briefly as if beginning load but the. Returns back to selecting user and entering password. It really strange as it does not say password incorrect its almost like it trying to load but can't.
I came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?
So I have a DYNEX 21 inch HD TV conected up to my MBP via the VGA connection route. My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.
I have a problem with my screen - when there is something black on, I can see a faint mark of a lighter colour. I have tried to take a picture, please excuse the poor quality. There is nothing visible when the screen is off, even under close examination. Is it less visible when lighter things are on the screen, and invisible when the screen is white.
No drops or liquid spills. Will this go away on it's own? Any fixes?
I've had my mac for about three years now and everything was working fine. After I installed lion, I notice that this started to happen. I don't lose any of my information though when it does that. It just goes into a sleep mode I guess? Anyways, is this a feature from the lion update? Something standard?
My macbook pro just has a black screen with a small coloured circle on the right of the screen. It is frozen and wont respond to turning it off or on. It is plugged into mains power.
When my MacBook Pro 13" i5 goes into screen saver mode, which is black, it won't return to normal mode. Tried all keys, trac pad, closing the lip and re-opening it, and it won't respond. The only thing that works is holding down power button for hard shutdown, then restarting it. It has happened 8 times in the last 2 weeks.
After an update(I think) I can no longer get into my computer. When turned on I get the apple logo then a grey screen that turns to black but the curser is active . Then there is no more progress to the startup screen
Computer starts (keyboard lit, music plays, caps lock light on), but no screen. I need to open and close 2 - 30 times before the screen will turn on. Once on, the computer works perfectly. I've tried PRAM and safemode reset.
I just purchased a used Mac Mini on ebay. I would like to download software but asks for user name and password. How do I set new user name and password? I have original OS X install disks.
I purchased a used 1.42 GHz G4 Mac Mini, with OS X 10.4 installed. It came with the system disks. My problem seems to be with the password and user name when trying to download software.
Is there a way to reset the user name and password?
give very specific directions, as I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to Macs.
I put my mac mini away a couple years ago, and i decided to bring it back out to use and i can't remember the password on it. any idea how to reset it? or any way to format without the password?
