MacBook Pro :: It Won't Charge - MagSafe Blinking Green Light Inconsistently

Feb 25, 2012

A few hours ago my MBP (15" from January 2011) had almost no battery, so I plugged in the charger - but nothing happened. No green or orange light - or indicator on finder. I went to System Information which confirmed that it had 0% battery left and it wasn't charging, even with the MagSafe correctly plugged in.

I checked the wall connector and it's functioning well on other devices. The battery eventually died and now my macbook won't turn on. The light on the adapter and on the side of the notebook flashes green inconsistently. It won't turn on since it has no battery. I've tried reseting the SMC but nothing happend.

MacBook Pro :: Adapter Light Dim (No Charge) Shuts Down Sporadically

Dec 31, 2009

MacBook Pro, bought in April of 2007. I've had this thing for almost three years now and I love it. It's my baby and has been with me through alot. Anyways, I've never had a problem with it before until now. Actually I take that back, the battery went ka-put about a year or so ago when it was under warranty. Regardless, here's the problem: The LED doesn't shine anymore. It's really dim. The battery does not charge at all, it's stuck at 0%, so right now I'm stuck with a really cool desktop.

When I play music from my computer on my stereo, the line out feed has a lot of static interference, like theres a ground or something in the metal casing of the computer. The computer randomly shuts down. I've come to notice it normally does this when it is under "too much" stress. (ie: too many windows or applications open) I use quotations because I bought it w the 3gb upgrade and it never has problems w RAM, so for it to be shutting down the computer when only 4 safari windows or tabs are open is bull..

MacBook Pro :: Will Not Turn On - Green Lights Blinking On Battery Indicator?

Jun 5, 2012

My macbook pro 13" Mid 2010 model will simply not turn on! I tried does SMC and PRAM but still no results. The Macbook gives me 3 green blinking lights on the battery indicator and nothing else. I already tried switching the ram for a dead or faulty ram but still nothing. Also the power adapter doesn't seem to want to work. When I plug it to the macbook, I can hear small sparks each time, looking at it, there are some black marks on both the charger and the mac. [URL]s

MacBook Pro :: It Cannot Turn On Or Charge

May 3, 2012

About a year ago my MBP suddenly wouldn't turn on one day no matter what I tried, and it would not charge either.  Every time I attempted to charge it, the white LED status light on the front right of the unit would gradually but quickly become brighter until instantly turning off while making a very strange chirping noise.  2 days later it began to charge and eventually turned on again and this was the only time it happened in the span of a few months so I didn't worry about it.  It happened 2 or 3 more times but every time the problem would cease and the unit would power up again after at least 24 hours, after the battery was completely drained.  The LEDs under the keyboard were also off when they should have been on sometimes and the LED status light would sometimes indicate that the unit was sleeping even though it was on and in use. Finally, I brought it into a genius bar to have them see what they could find but they had never heard of this problem and I could not replicate it.  After looking at it some more, they decided it was likely the logic board and ended up simply replacing the logic board, which solved my problem for a while. Recently my MBP has started doing this again.  It has done it twice and both times everything went back to normal after allowing enough time for the battery to drain.

MacBook Pro :: 13" Won't Turn On Or Charge

My 13" macbook pro is a year and a half. It will not charge and since the battery is drained it will not turn on. I have the adapter plugged in and it is green and says that it is fully charged even though the battery is dead. Do I need a new battery, adapter, or mother board?

MacBook Pro :: Turned Off And Now It Won't Turn On Or Charge?

Aug 29, 2014

I turned off my macbook pro when it was at 100% before my flight. When I landed I tried turning it back on and it wouldn't turn on or charge. That was two months ago and I just tried charging it again and if I play with the charger, it lights up then totally fades away. I'm not a computer wiz so I can't take it apart to fix it or anything like that and I really don't feel like going and dumping a lot of money on a new computer.

MacBook :: Won't Turn On - Battery Wouldn't Charge

Jul 22, 2010

I don't have a warranty anymore. I got my Mac three and a half years ago. At first two days ago, I had a hard time turning it on. The charger didn't have a glowing green light. Then, once I got it on, the battery sign said it wasn't charging, had an X or something. But I got by by just leaving the charger on and it must have been charging some because I could use it for more hours than my usual 100% charged. My battery have always been damn awful because of the edition. But last night, I couldn't get it to turn on at all. The fan makes noises and so does the computer and sometimes, I can see very faintly that it goes to the sign-in. It could just be out of batteries and doesn't turn all the way on, just shuts down after a minute.

But since I don't have warranty, I am wondering how much it'd be to visit the Apple Store. And also, if anyone know of any way to fix it...could it be some other issue aside from the battery? This happened right after a storm that we had while I was at work and left it plugged on. But there was no lightning.

I put my 17" Macbook Pro to sleep overnight without the power adapter two nights ago, and when I woke up yesterday it wouldn't turn on, even with the power adapter plugged in. The battery was almost dead when I put it to sleep (2% charge), but after leaving the adapter plugged in all day yesterday the battery indicator on the bottom only has one light glowing solid.I've removed the battery and tried to start it with just the power adapter, I've tried Ctrl+Cmd+Power Button, I've reset the PRAM, I've reset the SMC, and it still doesn't work.

Just wondering if someone could please help me. My Macbook wont turn on, when I connect the charger to the Macbook, a faded green light appears on the charger (not as bright as it usually is) but still the Mac will not turn on. I have tried someone else's charger and the light on that charger also went a faded green colour. So i believe it is something to do with the Macbook and not the charger.

PowerPC :: IBook G4 Charge Battery But Only Run On AC Adapter?

Sep 18, 2007

I just bought a 74w NewerTech battery about 3 weeks ago but I don't think that is the problem....

I can run my iBook off of the AC adapter fine but when I unplug it it automatically shuts off as if there is no battery in it.

It shows that the battery is charging and everything in the menubar but when I unplug it, it will shut off. This just happened today and earlier today I was working on it with the battery working fine.

I also switched out to the old stock battery and it does the same thing.

I think it has to be hardware related. I have reset the PMU and PRAM/NVRAM and it didn't help. Also when I started the computer back up it said that my clock was reset. Feedback is much appreciated.

PowerPC :: Ibook G4 Adapter - Can't Charge Battery

Jan 21, 2008

My adapter caught on fire, and I had to put it out. When I tried to charge my battery with a new adapter, it would not charge. I got another battery, (old one from a friend), that apparently had some juice left on it. The computer turned on no problem, and I used it for about 20 minutes when I noticed that the battery was slowly dying, and that it would not charge again. Now, its dead again. It will not charge. Does this sound like a logic board problem? Who can I contact?

MacBook Air :: Cycle Count On Battery Rapidly Increasing

Mar 26, 2008

So first off, I absolutely love my MBA. Now that we have that out of the way. Since day 1 I've noticed that the cycle count on the battery seems to be climbing MUCH faster than it should.

- I've had the machine 51 days. I was out of the country without it for 9 days so really, I've had it for 42 days.
- According to iStat and System Profiler my battery's cycle count is 37
- According to System Profiler my battery's health is "Good"
- According to iStat my battery's health is at 98% (It started around 96%, has been as low as 94% but seems to have settled in at 97 or 98% for some time now)
- According to system profiler my maximum charge is 5006 mAh. (It's also gone up a bit since the machine was new).

I thought the definition of a cycle was the equivalent of 100% depletion of the battery -- whether that's one long unplugged stint that sucks it dry or 10 really short ones. A cycle is the same as using ~5000 mAh of battery power. I've been really good about keeping it plugged in while I work (the outlet is conveniently located). I've run the battery most the way down maybe 5 times. I do, however, run it down 10 or 20% almost every day as the machine travels with me in sleep mode or spends the night unplugged in sleep mode at my girlfriend's place).

I haven't done any careful testing but it seems though that if I run the battery down just 20% or 30% or so and then charge it all the way back up the cycle count increases by 1. Considering I've only used it for 42 days, and the cycle count is already at 37, I'm worried that it will hit 200 cycles by the time it's 8 or 10 months old. Isn't the point where battery performance starts to wane? Anyone else out there notice a rapidly climbing cycle count?

MacBook Pro :: Gray Dots On LCD Screen - Rapidly Increasing

Dec 2, 2009

I have a Macbook Pro 2.2 Santa Rosa Rev. D model. Recently I have discovered gray dots appearing along the top of my screen.

A few at first, but masses growing are growing rapidly. In the past 3 weeks the problem has started to spread to both my right and left edges as well. Under different viewing angles the dots sort of dissapear. The dots are not uniform in size or pattern.

I have a slight feeling that this has to do with my NVIDIA 8600GT graphic card.

I read tonight that that specific card was reported faulty and thousands have had problems and have had to get their logic boards replaced.

I also read that Apple extended their warranty for this specific reason.

Anyways, the dots are increasing and it's worrying me as I am not sure if this will be covered or not.

OS X :: Apple Rapidly Seeding Mac OS X 10.5.3 Test Builds

Apr 1, 2008

The next security and maintenance release for Apple's Leopard operating system could arrive sooner than later if the company maintains its current cadence, which has seen two successive pre-release builds land in the hands of developers in just five days. On the heels of the first external test build labeled Mac OS X 10.5.3 build 9D10 and released privately late last week, the Mac maker on Tuesday followed up with build 9D11, which adds nearly 20 more fixes and code corrections, bringing the new total expected with software's release to nearly 100. Among the most recent improvements, according to people familiar with the ongoing testing process, are fixes to AirPort connection issues and problems with the MacBook Air's sleep functionality. Other fresh fixes target Time Machine, Spaces layering and preferences, graphics corruption, display issues within Mail.app, Back to My Mac communication issues, and Automator quirks when interacting with Mail.app.

As was the case with Friday's pre-release distribution, Apple reportedly asked that its developer community focus their ongoing testing efforts on two dozen core system components. These include, but are not limited to, AirPort, AppleScript, Audio, Dashboard, Directory Services, Dock, DVD Player, Finder, Graphics, Installer, Printing, and VoiceOver. Mac OS X 10.5.3 Update, which currently weighs in at a hefty 410+ MB in Delta form and 530+ MB in Combo form, will mark the third update to Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard since the software made its official debut in late October. While those people familiar with the ongoing testing process have been unable to provide a target release date, it's presume the update is being groomed for distribution sometime in April or May.
