never really had a terrible problem with this computuer until the last few months with the battery wearing out and having to replace the charging cord twice but now it seems like I have a problem here. Earlier today, less than an hour ago, i burned a CD for my buddy, when i went to burn the second disk, it didnt want to accept it. Finally, when it did, it wouldnt read I had a disk in it. When i got home, i tried other cds/dvds and it wouldnt read them either. It was making a rather bad sound, kind of like an alarm sound. The CD will not spin and is ejeceted shortly after. I was planning on bootcamping my Macbook Pro later this weekend, but if i can not get this to work, I wont be able to. I dont think i have Apple Care and the nearest apple store is about a 2 hour drive from my house.Â

I recently installed the moshi palmguard on my 13" MBP. I also have a speck clearcase around the MBP, and every few hours, small bubbles form on the palmguard, right where the little speck hinges are. I press down and flatten them out, but they always reappear.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWill the clearguard available right now fit on the Oct. 10 MBA 13" laptop keyboards? Are they releasing a new skin specifically for the new line of macbook airs? What's the deal?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anybody tried the Moshi Cleargaurd on the new MBPs? Does it affect typing? Would the cover create any friction when typing? How about ventilation?
I would really apreciate it if someone could show me some pictures of actual usage, not just the photo on the Moshi website.
This is a fairly important question as I have read around these forums that the keys on the new MBPs get worn out really quickly, in the sense that the shine that appears on the black keys are really evident.
Just wanted to let my fellow macbook/pro fans out there that this palmrest rocks! I installed it on my MBP 13 and the color matching is 99% perfect and you can barely tell it's an add on. This also came with a trackpad protector. The build on this thing is spectacular, I highly recommend it. I bought it at MicroCenter for 19.99. The only thing I'm looking for now is a bottom skin/protector. I won't buy the invisible shield on basis that it's too expensive and I'm not going to hose down my laptop to put it on.

I don't want to start a matte vs. glossy debate, but I may have to cut the glare on my new unibody. I'm going to give it a little more time to see if my eyes adjust, but for now it still seems to be causing light headaches in my environment. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has been able to compare the Moshi iVisor and the Power Support and can comment on the difference. I don't know anything about Moshi, but have heard people say that they make good stuff. They seem to mostly advertise the screen based on it's ease of install and while I know first hand how painful it is to install a power support screen, I'm more interested in the quality of the display after the install. I'm wondering if the Moshi has the same little grainy feel to it that the power support has.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAnybody who have an ant-glare display on the unibody MBPs (15" or 17") and also have the Moshi Clearguard Keyboard protector? My concern is that since there is no glass covering the anti-glard display, it is a little more delicate. Over time, it is inevitable that grease and oil stains will get transferred from my fingers to the Moshi Clearguard (fine I'm not worried about that). What I'm worried about is when I close the lid of my MBP with anti-glare display, will the LCD screen actually touch the Clearguard, and thus, transfer grease and oil onto the LCD screen?
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I got my Moshi Anti-Glare screen cover for my late 08 15" uMBP. I like it. It DOES make a difference, and I like having a little protection for my screen. It makes the blacks a little more grey, mostly noticeable in natural light and if you're looking at the screen from a bit of an angle. It's not as prominent from dead on. Honestly, I didn't like it immediately after I put it on. Of course, I just dropped 40 bucks on it so I wasn't about to get rid of it! Now it looks totally natural to me. I didn't take pictures of the actual cover before I installed it, but it was a breeze. Came with a little microfiber cloth to get dust/prints off before you install. The adhesive is only on the black border of the screen. No air bubble issues at all, and it lines up super easy. On the cover, the border is also black, but clears out to show the MacBook Pro on the bottom. For the iSight camera, it clears and ALSO has a hole for the lens, so there is nothing covering your camera (which was a concern of mine. I would have just cut a hole for it, but I appreciate not having to bust out scissors) it's a little disappointing in intense natural light, like in the picture, but it really shines in an office environment. I'm ok with that, since that's where all my eye-strain was coming from. If I do any work with natural light that I can't control with blinds or moving to another couch, it's not gonna be that serious. Overall, I'd love to not spend 40 bucks for a piece of thin plastic, but no sense in complaining about the Mac accessory market now =) I do recommend it, and if for some reason I get another glossy notebook, I will be getting this most definitely.... though I think I'll be better off getting an anti-glare screen from the get go.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got my new MBPR in the mail today and figured I'd drain the battery to 0 before fully charging it for the first time. Only problem is, the charger doesn't seem to be working properly. The light on the magsafe never turns on and the computer reads "Not Charging" for the battery status, yet it is still charging the battery VERY slowly. I've tried many different outlets throughout my house, and have taken off the extension for the power cord also. Nothing can get that light to turn on!

I replaced my Cd-rom/DVD player a month ago after it was giving me trouble. I bought a Superdrive on ebay and installed it. I'm still having problems though, and I can barely use it. I have to tilt the laptop back to get it to read or eject a disc. Do you think it's the drive or is it some other problem since I am on my 2nd drive? I don't have the money to have apple fix it, it's only 1.5 years old.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have noticed that my optical drive will not read any type of music or data/software cd. It tries, but then it spits it out. It reads DVD's just fine.

I would think the answer would be yes, but all the info I find on Apple's website and the search results I browsed through on the formums only mention SD cards. No mention of SDHC. My old computer only read regular SD cards, which was a real bummer. I have a SDHC card for my camera, and am hoping the new Macbook Pro I'm going to buy can read the cards.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI own a Macbook Pro, it's a A1150 model with an Intel Core Duo processor. I'm trying to use my install disc but every time I try to use it, the cd drive reads it for a few seconds but then just ejects it afterwards. What can I try to get it to work? My laptop came with the 10.4.5 install disc and I upgraded to 10.6 Snow Leopard via disc (the disc itself just says 10.6). I have all my software updates and it shows I have OS X version 10.6.8 currently installed.
When I turn on the computer with the 10.4.5 disc already inserted and hold C it just boots up like normal and ejects my install disc. Likewise when I try with the 10.6 Snow Leopard disc it does the same thing. I've tried holding the option key and it still just ejects the disc after it reads it for a while. Both discs are genuine (not copies) in pretty much like new condition without and scratches/smudges/dirt and my Superdrive reads/burns cd and dvd's just fine.

I want to hook my Macbook Pro up to a Sony Bravia (not sure of the exact model). I went to the Apple Store, and was given these two items to hook it up. Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support. Belkin High Speed HDMI Cable - 6 feet
We successfully hooked it up last night, and the video worked. I was told in the store that this setup would not transfer audio, so I already knew there would not be sound coming from the TV, rather from the Macbook instead. My Q is: What's the easiest way to get audio to come from the TV? I'd rather not buy external speakers to plug in, if I can help it.
I just added a pair of Kingston 2GB FB DIMM PC2 6400 sticks of RAM to my Mac Pro 8-core on top of the two 1GB RAM sticks that the computer came with. I was expecting a total of 6 GB of RAM but when I go to computer info it says I only have 4GB which means that the new Kingston sticks are reading as 1GB each instead of 2GB.
Is this bad memory or am I missing something?
My MBP has been acting up lately. It seems that whenever I put a DVD into my drive, it sounds like the computer is reading it or attempting to and then spits it back out. When I put the dvd back in a second time, it reads it just fine and mounts it on desktop without any problems. Doesnt seem to matter what kind of dvd it is; game, movie, etc. The SuperDrive only reads it when I put the disk in the second time. I'm running 10.5.6.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought my Mac Mini in late 2006 and have had very few problems with it up until recently. I installed Boot Camp with Windows XP on the computer and have been using both operating systems fairly equally until the Windows XP operating system stopped working correctly. I decided it would be best to back up my data and reformat, so I erased the Windows XP partition and am currently trying to make the partition again. Heres the problem: Whenever I insert the Windows XP install CD (or any CD - music or not) it just displays as 'blank cd/disc' and when I try clicking it, the Mac Mini says there is nothing on the disc. I have tried burning the Windows XP operating system to several discs as well to see if my copy was faulty, and yet it will not work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an older Power Mac G5 that I had problems with, and hoped I could get a little help.I wanted to start fresh, so I booted the Mac OSX software disk that came with the computer, and I was able to get my computer back to factory fresh (software-wise). After I reloaded the OSX (and did all of the software updates from Apple), I tried loading a program from an original installation CD/DVD. It would not load--it tried, but eventually ejected the disk. This happened over and over--I tried different types of discs (music CDs, DVDs, software), and the ONLY CDS/DVDs that work are the MAC OSX installation discs. I have tried using a DVD lense cleaner and compressed air.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Quicksilver 933 with 1.5GB ram and 2 internal hard drives (WD 320GB, Maxtor 80Gb). Operating system is 10.4.11, Boot ROM is 4.2.5f1. It's my understanding that some QS were produced with the ability to use larger hard drives. Mine does not and I am wondering what I can do to correct this. Computer sees and writes to both drives. The 80 is fully usable but 320 only allows 128 of storage. Disk utility sees whole drive as just under 300Gb but I can't use more than 128. I have ATA HiCap driver that will allow me to partition into sections but it's a pain. Is that my only option or buying a card?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook pro operating on OS X software, version 10.6.8. I've restarted the download twice and restarted the computer once.

I have a WD MyBook Studio Edition 1TB that's been OK for about a year, but recently it's been acting weird so I ordered an advance replacement from WD and am in the process of transferring all my stuff to the replacement drive. The old drive will read and write fine for a few seconds, then it just slows way down. For example, I am copying files over right now, and it just blazed through about 500 MB in a few seconds, and it's taken it about 15 minutes to get to 550 MB. Obviously something is wrong, but I'm looking for any advice on how to keep this thing alive or speed it up for just a few minutes while I get everything off of it.

Jpg files were produced on PowerBookG4 with Tiger and saved on a Freecom 1TB disk, connected over FireWire. (This disk probably is not the issue (90% sure)).Updated to Leopard 10.5.8 by an Apple support center (since no disks available to buy). PowerBookG4 will not any longer read the jpg files correctly. They get corrupted and may have horizontal stripes, or fields. These fields may be black. The same files read ok on an old iBook with Tiger, as well as a newer machine with Snow Lion, when Freecom is connected to these machinesImporting new jpg files to the PowerBookG4/Leopard also display corrupted Have tried to (but did not help)rescale a picture with Graphic Converter on a friend's Snow Lion machine, and saved to this disk (new image)connect the Freecom disk to the old iBook/Tiger and shared it out, then moved files across home network into the PowerBook. Have not tried to (should I?)remove the resource fork. Â
Is there a trick to get Leopard to display these files correctly? (aclassifier on behalf of a friend in despair)
