At the same time I started syncing with MobileMe and have been having this problem for about 2 years. Every time I send her an email it changes her name from just Mom to Mom and then adds her last name back into the last name field.

I have two entries in Address Book: same surname, home email address, home address & phone different first names (Jeff and Jackie), work email addresses. When I type Jeff into the To field in a Mail new message, it shows Jackie and the choice of her home & work email addresses: I can't get Mail to accept Jeff. Presumably this is because they have the same home email address and Jackie comes before Jeff alphabetically. But there must be a way of showing Jeff instead of it being changed to Jackie in the To field! I have removed previous recipients in Mail (Windows, Previous Recipients).

I have upgraded to Lion so that I can use iCloud.when I select a contact in the address book, I can't tell what account it is in,
and I can't change the contact to iCloud if it's not already in that account, so the
contact comes up on my other devices.This seems like a very basic function,yet if I want a contact to be on iCloud, it seems I have to create a new contact with iCloud selected in the preferences.

I followed advice I saw on the web and deleted the .plist files for Address Book in the Preferences file in my Library. That worked like a charm. Now, that doesn't work.
I have deleted the files, restarted my computer, verified and fixed permissions using Disk Utility, and let my computer rest overnight by leaving it off. Nothing works and I've tried several combinations of order. I am running Mac OSX 10.6.8 on a first generation Intel MacBook Pro. All software is up to date

I have 2 address book accounts. One private set up to sync via CardDAV to Lion Server, and one work account on Exchange 2010 SP1. Adding or editing contact photos works on my private account both on my iPhone/iPad and on my MAC. I use my Mac for business for years, and until now, I've kept a Windows box to print out mailing labels.I finally got off my butt and got my contacts moved over into address book so I could just use one computer.However, when I went to print a test sheet of labels, I saw that there was no option to print the the Position of my contacts on the label...which I need to do for business.I'd prefer not having to put the "Position" into another field to get it to print, because I like to keep things organized.I'm not afraid of jumping into the Terminal if that's what it takes to get this feature added to my copy.I just need to be able to do it somehow.

Similar to Microsoft Entourage, I would like to create categories (or keywords) in Apple Address Book contacts, such as family, friends, co-workers, so that I can create smart groups that dynamically update as I add or edit new contacts. Is there any way to do this? Right now I manually include keywords in the Notes field, but this is cumbersome, as I have to remember all the keywords I've created.Â

I'm in college and get a lot of emails from a lot of different groups and I often have reason to save them as a group in address book, but I usually stop once I realize that I need to add each of the people to my address book one by one, and then add them all to a group as I go.
Is there a way to streamline this? In an ideal world I would like to be able to create a new group in address book and just copy/click and drag all the address from the email to the group. But, like I said before the biggest issue right now is having to add each person to address book one at a time, simplifying that process alone would be a huge help. Any suggestions, is what I'm thinking of even possible?

Using a G4 IBOOK with OS 10.5.8. Recently converted IBOOK from just my wifes computer to both of us so it is now dual usuage with both of us signing in to our respective files/e-mail, etc. My side has a problem never experienced before. My apple mail system address book has all the names the dock address book does but is missing almost 2/3rd of the actual e-mail addressess. I have tried to redo the dock address book in hopes it would change the "internal" mail book, but to no avail. It id difficult to add a recipient to an outgoing e-mail via the dock address instead of the apple mail address book.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst some background info. I recently purchased a 1TB hard drive for my 13" MBP, and I am about to do a clean install of OSX 10.6 and Win7 64bit on separate partitions.
And I want to setup the partitions before I install using Disk Utility. The reason for this is because I'm under the assumption that when creating a NTFS partition its better for the disk to be blank so it can put the MFT(Master file table) and MFT Mirror wherever it wants instead of some random spot on the disk (that way disk writes will be faster). The MFT thing was true when converting a FAT32 disk to NTFS. Nativity formatted NTFS disks were always faster then ones converted from FAT32, because the MFT was spread out instead of at the start of the disk.
I'm worried that installing OSX and then using the bootcamp utility will cause the MFT on my NTFS partition to end up in a un-optimal place and disk Reads/Writes will be slower.
Ok, so here's my questions.
1.) Should I be using a GUID Partition Table or Master Boot Record(Remember OSX 10.6 and Win7)?
2.) Should I use Disk Utility to Create a the OSX partition and then leave the second partition as Free Space? / Or should I use a third party utility and make the OSX partition and the NTFS partition at the same time?
3.) If I do create the partitions Manualy, will bootcamp still work correctly?
4.) Should I Use Journaled or Case-Sensitive Journaled on my OSX partition?
I know all of the questions were stupid, but there isn't any info on the web about it.

Try as I might, doing various combinations of name or group selections in the address book window, I cannot seem to get the "Edit Distributuion List" item to be un-greyed. Effectively, the program is not allowing me to do the edit function I need to do on this one group member.Â
Am I missing the secret handshake in this process? Why should it be this hard to do this simple function?Â
Which raises the larger question of "What did Apple do to the Address Book application in general?" This issue is only the tip of my iceberg. The whole app seems to be harder to use than before.Â
