MacBook :: How To Delete IP Printer And Make It Forget Username And Password
Nov 30, 2014I have installed an IP-printer on my Mac. To print something from this printer, I have to use an username and password. I wrote in what I thought was my username and password, and selected that my Mac should remember this.
Unfortunately I wrote the wrong username, and now, even though I've deleted the printer several times and added it again, I still can't print anything. The box that I wrote my username and password do not pop up. Â
So how do I delete the printer and make it forget my username and password?

Sep 12, 2014I originally logged in at the free and slow level, entering my room number and last name to confirm. Then I found out that by joining the hotel's loyalty program I can get the fastest speed for free, but I can't get back to the login screen. I've gone into Network Prefs > Wifi Network > Advanced, to delete the network name off the list, but even after a restart, my MBP just logs right in at the slow level.Â
I've deleted all networks from the list and saved it, yet it just logs right back into the slow level. I looked all over Keychain and don't see anything relating to this network anywhere. Everything I try, my computer just keeps logging back into the slow level. The hotel has even deleted my login on their end, and somehow I just get right back into the slow level without entering my room number again. Where is this password and network info stored so I can delete it?

Dec 27, 2010When making a purchase on the iTunes store, I checked the "remember password for purchases" box. I'd like to disable this. I went into preferences and clicked "reset warnings" and all that, but it still remembers my password when making purchases. Anyone know how to disable this?

Apr 22, 2012Is there any way to make Image Capture forget a device? It must have a cache since it remebers the folder where I save the photos. I want to make it forget my iPhone (4) because it keeps deleting everything I import regardless if I uncheck the box or not. What's weird is it works fine with all our other iDevices (4S, 3, iPad, all latest iOS) and card readers, so it must be something it remebers about my phone. Â
It do not see anything like this in the menu. Here is the Image Capture stuff in ~/Library just in case someone can point me to the culprit.Â

Aug 19, 2014If I change a folder name, while iTunes is working it's okay, it keeps playing the file just fine, but when I close iTunes and re-open it, it forgets the file path and make me find the path manually, then appears to be all right, but why it forgets the path when I close it?Â
I mean, even if I change the folder name (path) of the song that is actually playing, nothing happens and keep playing all the songs just fine, but if I close forgets all changes...

Nov 5, 2010I've just set up an Open Firmware Password for the first time. My understanding is that this would prevent booting the Mac from another volume (i.e. an OS X install DVD). After setting up the password and rebooting my machine, I decided to test things out by inserting my OS X install DVD and selecting it from the "Startup Disk" preference pane. Lo and behold, it rebooted from the DVD without asking for the password.

As a result, if I want to use Safe Mode I have to boot up from my install DVD, disable the password and then reboot. Very time consuming! I just read about a way to boot into Safe Mode:

I tried the method of removing some ram and yes i did it correctly plenty of times and got nothing.
then i also opened the whole intire computer and disconnected the battery and also got nothing.
also right now the system has no O/S so i am not sure what to do from here. I cant use any boot commands or anything.

Sep 9, 2009I just picked up an old eMac today that I'm trying to get it working. The problem is the open firmware password is set, and I have no idea what it is. If the open firmware password is set, it prevents you from doing anything without it including booting from a CD and zapping the PRAM. I changed the ram, removed the internal battery and hit the PMU reset button expecting this to clear the password, but it didn't work. Removing the internal battery did reset the system clock to 1/1/1904, but didn't change anything else.
Also aside from the practical question about resetting the password, I'm suddenly left wondering where the system stores the open firmware password. If it isn't stored on the hard drive, and it doesn't depend on the internal battery, then how is it saved? Just for clarification I have no idea who the original owner was or where it came from. So there is no chance of just finding the correct password.

In trying to add up to a wireless network at home (with a PC and a laptop Windows XP) I switched to "start from network" on System Preferences. On reboot, shows image of file with a ? or flashes a world clip. Usual command+S or C, Alt, attempt to reboot from CD fail. Before attempting anything else I don't want to lose my documents. When reboot with Alt, the padlock with space for password appears. I didn't set a password when I installed OS.

Every other computer in the house, as well as my XBox 360, is able to connect to the internet using the password that I set up. For some reason, when I try to connect to my Macbook, it tells me that the password is wrong, yet it works with the other 3 computers in my house. What am I missing? Do I need to change my settings on Airport? My wireless router is obviously working so what do I need to do?

However, what I'd like to do is issue the password without a GUI-based password dialog. Is this possible? If so, how? The reason I want to do this is because I ssh into my Mac from a remote Linux box, and I can only run command-line utilities. I'd like to open the volume from within this remote connection.
