Mac Pro :: How To Recover Data From Crashed Drive?
So unfortunately, the hard drive on my 2005 G5 crashed, atleast that's my guess. All it does is click when I attempt to turn it on. I'm fairly good with computers, but when it comes to fixing one - I hand it off to someone with a little more knowledge.

I have two hard drives in the computer - one that's got the OS installed (factory 150GB), and another I use for saving videos, pictures, music, etc (750GB). Now, I'm assuming that because the computer doesn't boot up, that the hard drive with the OS is the one that crashed? Is that a safe assumption?

Secondly, is it possible to recover the application files and other data that's been stored on the crashed drive? If so, how much should I expect to pay? Is it something a local 'work from the home' computer tech could do? The reason I ask is because craigslist is full of guys willing to work on the computer for a decent price.

MacBook :: Possible To Recover Data From Crashed Hard Drive?
My computer had frozen up so I had to restart it by holding down the power button. After I had done this, I kept getting a recurring kernel panic error. I had taken my MacBook the Apple Store and the tech who looked at it said that my hard drive was no longer good and that I would either have to replace it or purchase a new laptop. Regardless of whether I replace my hard drive or just purchase a new laptop, would there be any way to get my data that I lost off my old hard drive. I have some stuff backed up, but not recent data.

ITunes Mac :: Mac Crashed And Lost Songs - How To Recover Songs
After a bad crash caused by memory deterioration, it took 3 days to get my G5 mac back to normal. I used Time Machine for some of the retrieval. I had last backed up on August 15th. Two weeks isn't too bad, considering what it could have been.

I had downloaded 4 or 5 tunes from the itunes store in late August. I'm not even sure what all of them were. Is there someplace i can find an online record of my recent purchases, and sign something or other to get those songs back onto itunes? Or are they gone forever?

MacBook Pro :: How To Recover Lost Folders And Files
Some days ago I lost all of my 15 GB folders and files that stored in my Macbook Pro hard drive called DATA.  I brought my Macbook pro to an experienced computer tecnicians who providing data recovery services. To his and my suprise, after checking, scanning it a few hours, he said their is no way to recover because he did not find any trails at all.  The computer still seems working properly - I have no problem with any applications.  There are few other folders in the DATA hard disk containing pictures, computer programs still remain.  These lost folders and files contain mainly documents (word, excel, power point, pdf etc) which I accumulated in my many years working  !!!!.  I did not make a back up since last September partly because I think Mac is very safe.

The computer with me all the time on that day and only my son used Power Point to make a simple presentation on that evening - he can not save it on the folders the he normally use - All the folders and files are gone.Macbook Pro 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 1067 MhZ DDR3

OS X :: Recovering Files From Crashed Macbook On External Drive?
My macbook refuses to boot and freezes with either the blue or grey screen of death. I took my computer to the Genius Bar and the guy said my drive was dead but said I could possibly recover some of my files with an external hard drive. How exactly would I go about doing this? I've searched through posts but haven't really found anything specific. Do I go through Disk Utility or do I need a third party program like Data Rescue? He said to just boot from an external drive and then browse my old hard drive (which does show up in Disk Utility) and move things over.

Hardware :: Hard Drive Crashed - Recovering Files Procedure?
My 500GB external hard drive (Hitachi DeskStar) crashed! The blue light comes on, and I can hear the hard drive spinning, then sounds like it's stuck, or clicking ...

Same thing happens to the internal HD on my iBook G4. Sometimes the internal HD works, sometimes not.

I desparately need to find someway to attempt to either fix the external 500GB HD, or recover the files. The 500GB was my main HD, and I have so much very important data that I need to recover (no backups!).

I have years of research (lots of family history), thousands of pictures (many very old), my personal journals that I've been keeping for years, personal information, letters, documents, family videos, and all of my e-mail.

Somebody was telling me that there is special software that will recognize the HD, and allow you to recover the files.

What would you recommend? At the present I have no money to do anything, but will save up for the recovery software. My uncle is getting me a new hard drive, so I'll have that to back up the files when I have the recovery software ...

OS X Leopard :: Time Machine Back Up Files Missing / Disk Also Got Crashed
I recently had a hard drive crash in mac book pro. Having replaced the hard drive my back up disk also decided to crash but I did not worry too much as I had a separate time machine back up.

I retrieved most of my files but then realised that loads of my photos were missing. I went back into Time Machine only to discover that my back ups now only go back a week and all the old data has simply disappeared.

I have tried pressing the alt key while accessing the Time Machine on the menu bar but there are no other back up volumes.

Has Time Machine simply over written all my old data and rendered it irretrievable?

OS X :: How Can I Recover Files?
I've had my iMac for a few years now and have not upgraded the software from the osX 10.4.7 that it came with.

Recently it has decided not to boot, it just stays on the grey screen with the apple logo and spinning symbol.

I booted frrom the install CDs and choose the option of saving past user data but it keeps getting to a point where it says error please try again.

I've tried setting the computer as a target drive and reading the drive through another mac. The hard drive is recognised but I cannot access it.

I have several gb worth of photos I don't want to lose and I also have some work stuff, nothing massive in terms of file sizes.

How can I recover these files?

OS X :: How To Recover Deleted Files
My boss accidentally deleted all the messages in his inbox in Apple Mail and since it syncs with the server (mediatemple), they're all gone from the webmail too. Is there anyway to recover these files? I sent a support request to mediatemple to see if they have backups that they can recover too.

We have a tape backup system here at work that backs up his user account. Would there be a specific file to look for that might contain the old messages?

OS X Leopard :: How To Recover Deleted Files
I attempted upgrade to Leopard. I chose Archive and Install. Not positive I chose to preserve users. Install failed though Archive OK. Re-attempted, worked but no sign of archived file installation. Nervous, I called Apple. Helpful but when instructed to open 2 finder windows and drag the users from Tiger (archived file) to Leopard, I did the opposite. The empty user folders replaced the populated user folders and all is gone. Tech suggested I take machine to Genius bar to see if they can recover. I have most backed up but the small section not backed, up is very important. I know -DUMB. comments of what this recovery might cost?
