MacBook Pro :: Desktop Icon Size Changing By Itself

Got a new MBP 13". Just the one problem. Every now and again, always when I am touching the mousepad, the icon sizes on the desktop change. I then have to go into Show View Options and set it back again to what I want.

My standard resolution size is 1440 x 900 but the small font that accompanies it has taken a toll on my eyes. I've switched to 1152 x 720 because everything is bigger. I have a small screen. Is there anyway to use the better resolution and have the font size increased?

MacBook Pro :: Changing Size Of Fonts On Screen
I have recently hooked my MacBook Pro up to a 55" Vizio. The resolution set on my display is 1680 x 1050. While the desktop displays fine, the icons, FireFox, and just about all of the printed matter is much too small. The size is fine when I'm working on the laptop display. But, Is there a way for me to change the default setting when I'm on the big screen so that I can read what's being displayed from about 15 feet away? Watching tv episodes from the various network websites is great, especially when I have the sound coming out of the home theater system.

MacBook Pro :: Changing Finder Icon On Dock?
For some reason it just doesn't work for me. So here's how I attempted to change Finder's icon step by step. Navigated to System/Library/CoreServices/Finder then right clicked to Get Info and selected Finder's icon in top left corner. Opened the folder with (supposedly) specially designed Finder icons, picked the one I liked and right clicked to Copy. Went back to Finder's info window and pressed Ctrl+v to paste the icon. Obviously it didn't worked so I unlocked Permissions and changed a couple of privileges from Read Only to R&W to be able to paste in the new icon. Done. Color changed.

Preview showing the new icon inside the Get Info window, but not in the Dock. I recall someone said try a restart, so I tried about 5 restarts with the Finder's permissions changed and not changed, with no result. In the Dock, Finder still has the old color, although in the containing folder icon is changed. So, what's the catch here? I'm pretty sure some bored Unix guru would say "just type this in the terminal and stop bothering people with stupid questions" but I'm obviously not one of them and not sure there's a lot of them on this forum. But I just thought it's worth a shot anyway.

MacBook Pro :: Changing Which Desktop Program Opens In
About a month ago I upgraded my computer from Snow Leopard to Lion, but now there are some features that I had in Snow Leopard that I can't figure out how to change in Lion.I heavily relied on Spaces for opening my programs and more importantly, opening up certain programs in certain desktops. I was able to go into my System Preferences and choose which program I wanted to open up in which desktop in Spaces. Now that I have Lion (and Spaces is gone) certain programs still open up in certain desktops, but I don't want that feature anymore. Am I stuck with programs opening up in those selected desktops, or is there somewhere in my computer that I can go to change that?

I just got my Mac Book Pro 17in. 3.06GHz. and nearly every time I reopened or do a restart, all my folders changes places on my desktop. Is it Snow Leopard that does that or something else? I have a DVD from a tourist operator - and when I placed it into the MacBook Pro which I have had a month - I heard the loading noise, saw no icon on the desktop and have no way of ejecting it.I suspect the DVD may well be a VCD as I ran VLC and it seem to indicate that there is a VCD in the MBP.I have tried all of the suggested methods of getting the DVD/VCD to eject to no avail.I cannot see it identified in the applications - and yes I am one month into using a Mac having had PCs for 15 years.i can hear the DVD inside the MBP and it is very unsettling to hear.
