I'm actually trying to so this in Excel 2003 for Windows at work, but I have the most recent version of Office for Mac on my home computer and can do it there if the procedure is different between the two versions.
I'm working on a certain type of project that can have any combination of associated Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents. When I'm done with a project, I want to create a single PDF containing all associated content. In principle, it's easy: create a PDF of each document, and then combine the PDFs using Acrobat. Unfortunately, most of the Excel spreadsheets are wider than any of the paper sizes in Excel's Page Setup options. For instance, if I select Legal for the paper size and then print landscape to PDF, it prints however many columns would fit on an 11" piece of paper, then prints the next 11" range of columns, and so on. The resulting document makes no sense, because all the columns aren't contiguous. I'm never going to print the PDF, just view it on screen, and I want the PDF to look just like the Excel spreadsheet does. Is there any sort of "Print Actual Width" option in Acrobat that overrides Excel's page-size options? I've Googled this topic and checked Microsoft's support site.
I want to copy the MS Office Suite that I presently have installed on my Mac Laptop to my new iMac. However, I do not have the original disks for Office, although I do have the Product Codes. How can I do this?

When I send my .xls files from my Mac (Office 2008) to my boss's Windows machine (Office 2003), he gets an error message when he attempts to open the excel spreadsheet: Excel has encountered an error and must shut down. I've sent files to other computers and not had a problem, and my boss has received other excel files and been able to open them. So it must be something between these two machines/softwares that is affecting it. Any suggestions or ideas? I can add any additional info you need.

Or, more specifically , I am missing the possibility to place the cursor in a cell and hit F2 to edit the formula as well as Excel color-coding all cells that are referred to from the current cell.
I know I can do the same by clicking in the "formula builder toolbar" but I don't wan't to have to reach for the mouse each time... does anyone know if Excel for Mac has a similar feature / keystroke to use
I bought a 2GB Base 13" macbook air about a week ago, so it's still returnable.I was very happy with it, until I tried to edit a large Excel doc (1500 rows) and the beachball is very frequent with max CPU spikes very often. I see that I have two choices - Swap for a macbook pro and pocket the ?100 difference
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have been working on an Excel file for the last month continuously saving at every moment. At some point something happened and the file name now included a (version 1) after the original file name. I didn't worry about that because I was able to work on the file and keep on saving my work. I did some changes yesterday and saved it. All of a sudden I got a message that there was an upgrade ready to be installed at night. So I saved the file and did the upgrade. my file was nowhere to be found. I keep looking at Finder and I can only find a file with a similar name not the one with the (version 1) on it. I opened that file but it doesn't include any of the changes and updates I have done in the last month. I never deleted the file and I have double checked on the Trash and its not there. Is there a way to recover my file? The only thing that I did differently was that I completely powered of my mac as opposed to just closing it.Â

I'm struggling already whole with trying to copy and paste a excel diagram from excel 2008 to adobe illustrator CS3. Now I found out on the microsoft homepage, that this is a known problem and also in several forums people where struggling with this. Microsoft suggests to copy something from illustrator into excel and afterwards it should also work the other way around. This is definitely not the case. I really need to solve this issue. Does somebody know if there is another solution, or to whom one could contact, or if a update which could solve this problem is in the pipeline?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Leopard and an external FreeAgent HD. I have Quicken on the external and all my spreadsheets and letters on the Leopard I updated one of the six spreadsheets and when I went back this morning everything is gone. No pages (letters) and no spreadsheets. At first I too thought it was the hidden extension but I've tried every type of utility and finder search for file names and documents on both HD and external. How in the world you could lose all your documents?
I have never understood Time Machine. I looked there and tried to reinstall backups from the first of the month but the only thing in Time Machine is the program itself, none of the spreadsheets or letters. I'm still struggling with the conversion from Windows. Have been using the Mac for over a year now and love it but somethings are difficult to learn after many years on PC's.
How can I resize my spreadsheet so that it fits in the office for Mac excel spreadsheet when opening an existing windows file? Last column goes to another page.

I just upgraded my HD on my new MBP13.
I upgraded it from 250GB to a 500GB 7200RPM WD Scorpio Black. However the noise was definitely noticeable for me and I have changed it back to the 250 5400RPM GB Seagate Momentus. Sucks to have lost the money
Now the thing is I need 500 GB and I want it to be a internal hard disk. I was thinking about buying 500 GB 5400RPM Scorpio Blue or a Seagate 5400RPM Momentus. Not decided yet(any recommendation?).
The problem is though I want to begin using my system. I want to install programs etc. Is there an easy way to copy the whole system to the new hard drive when it arrives?
I have another (windows) pc with an external NFTS disk.
i never had this problem before until today. I want to copy a movie from my computer to USB and it does not work-I press copy item and then when i want to paste it, it does not even show paste the item, only eject, get info, view, arrange by, show view options. What could be the problem? I tried several USBs and in none of them i could copy the files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTwo strange issues that I can't fix on my new MB Air 13 with MS Office for MAC 2011 and Excel.
1) I can't get the Standard Toolbar to show up when I open a new worksheet. I go to view, toolbars and then see that the Standard Toolbar is checked, but it doesn't show up. The only way to get it to show up is to do a series of steps:
- uncheck Standard Toolbar menu and go back out;
- go back in and check the Standard Toolbar and back to the spreadsheet
- the Standard Toolbar still doesn't show up;
- so then I click on the Layout tab on the ribbon and then it shows up!
2) I can't see the bottom of the window/spreadsheet - which means I can't resize the window. To resolve this, I have to do these steps:
- open system preferences and change my MBA screen resolution from 1440 x 900 down to 1280 x 800
- then go back to the spreadsheet, and resize the window (make it smaller on the screen)
- go back and resize the window back to 1440 x 900
- and then close the system preferences at this point, the Excel spreadsheet window is smaller and I can see/use the bottom of the screen to resize, etc.
Can't figure out what setting I have wrong or why I can't get Excel for Mac 2011 to work correctly on the MB Air screen.
Can I copy my Lion operating system from my Mac Air to another household computer?

Is it better for me to buy the upgrade for windows 7, from vista to windows 7 or to buy the full copy? If i buy the fully version, should i get rid of my pardon, and re-do it with bootcamp, or should i just do it over my current pardon? (Vista) I just want the best way, less pain, less anger. Im willing to pay more for full IF IT IS THE BEST way to do it.

I'm hoping to get this MBP replaced as I'm having problems with the battery life and the glass of the screen is loose. I have a windows 7 partition on the flipside of my HD anyway to get these both backed up? I know Time machine has done my Mac back ups for the past age but I don't know what to do about windows.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to have Windows on on a Mac; however, before I purchase software the way I always do, I have a question. Can you bootcamp with a digital copy of Windows (without a disk I mean). I see everywhere that people are using CDs, but If I were to just buy the software online and transfer the information onto another medium, will that give me the same results, or do I need a Windows CD?

A problem occurs with MS Excel 2004 charts that are copied from Excel, pasted into MS Word 2004 as a "Picture", then sent to a colleague to open in MS Word for Windows.
The problem is that, on the Windows machine, some of the lines in the text boxes are truncated along the right side. The only workaround I have so far is to give the text boxes an extra wide right margin on the Mac. They will look odd on the Mac, but reasonable on the Windows machine.
Likewise, with legends in Excel charts, I have to stretch the legend box horizontally to ensure that legend text is not truncated when the Excel chart appears in an Office for Windows document.
So I just purchased a new MBP and have Snow Leopard installed on my current machine. The original boot file is on my home computer (I am out of town) and trying to avoid having to download all over again.
Is there any way to "Clone" my current computer to have the operating system installed on my new machine?
Ive "NetPresenz 4.1" installed on Power Macintosh 8100/80AV Mac OS 9.1 to connect to MacBook Pro Mac OS X 10.7.3using Firefox plugin FireFTP -to share everything vice versa. (This is the only way that I know to transfer files between these to Systems! I'm right)
When FTP files (Docs & Apps) from OS X 10.7.3 to OS 9.1 in both modes Binary & ASCII, the OS 9.1 receive them as a generic file and cannot be recognized! Some of the applications, like installers, do not have extension. But when burring them on CD through OS X 10.7.3, and insert the CD into OS 9.1 it does recognize them.

I'm taking a class with a professor who uses Windows. We're using Excel (2003) tomorrow in class, and I'd like to use my Excel Mac to do the class.
Is there a big difference with the Mac version versus the Windows counterpart? Enough to make a significant difference?
I'm using my 13" MBP for running Windows 7 right now. I'm in Excel 2007 and I'm unable to right click. When I right click the menu pops up with the options that are usually available once someone right clicks, but it disappears after a tenth of a second. Any idea what's causing this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use my MacBook more and more at work but have run into a slight problem with Excel 2008 (all the updates are installed).
When I open a Spreadsheet that was made in Excel 2003 on windows that has some cells colored in, make any change then save, all the colors that the cells are shaded change. They originally are bright colors and after saving on my Mac they've changed to muddy, dark versions.
As these sheets are used by multiple people this has made me quite unpopular in the office!
