I reinstalled the iOS on my macbook and when i tried to install the applications disk it showed that there was an error and was not able to be installed.

I did a clean install of Snow Leopard. Every thing is fine except iMovie is not opening. Whenever I try to open it, it pops up with the following error message -
'Quartz Extreme required'
'iMovie requires a graphics card that is compatible with Quartz Extreme.
One or more of your graphics cards does not support Quartz Extreme.'
I have an Imac 17" Intel Core 2 Duo (5,1) 2ghz late 2006 model. Just recently the superdrive has perished for what ever reason & I have read that some times if you reinstall the original operating discs that came with the computer, the superdrive may or may not come back to life.
Leopard 10.5.8 with all the updates is the current set up on the imac & I want to put Tiger 10.4.7 back on it. So I'm connecting the Imac to my Mac pro 15.4" (late 2007 model - 2.2ghz 4gb ram intel core 2 duo) via firewire & use the Imac as a target disk. I put the install disc into my mac pro with the imac connected, power down - reboot holding 'C' to boot up the Tiger install disc. The apple logo & spinning wheel appear, but then the screen darkens & a 'You must turn off your computer or hold the power switch for a few seconds appears'
Now I've tried resetting the PRAM,NVRAM & SMC also decreasing the amount of RAM there is in the laptop.But the error is always the same? However if I put leopard 10.5.6 disc in that starts ok, snow leopard 10.6 that starts ok too. But tiger 10.4.7 & leopard 10.5.1 won't start at all? How can I get Tiger 10.4.7 back onto the imac using my mac pro?
Yes the only other way is to replace the superdrive, but I'm not in a position to get it replaced at the minute & if reinstalling the original operating discs rejuvenates the old superdrive, then there's no point.

I have had this macbook pro now for about 3-4 months and last week it started showing weird yellow/white stripes on places where it should be completely white. It comes and goes from time to time and it seems to be effected by the hardware itself, since when I move my screen it comes and goes. But when I make a screenshot of an opened window, like iCal, with lots of white space, it does not show the yellow-like stripes. I tried adjusting the contrast at universal access but it didn't work.

Recently I have been trying to burn some video_ts files ripped with MacTheRipper on to 8x Memorex DL DVD +R. I think the problem here is that my drive is only built to handle 4x speeds. I have tried decreasing the speeds in Toast this however has no effect and I still receive a drive error. I have also tried to transform the video_ts folder into multiple different types of disc images and burn them to the DL DVD from the disk utility function. The error I get from here is also a drive error

A company is sending statements as .rtf files. I cannot view them in TextEdit or Pages. I have opened them on PC's so I know that the files exist are are viewable on a PC. The error I get is:
"The document 'xxx.rtf' could not be opened. The file isn't in the correct format."
In smaller text below it:
"The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format."
I get the same message for both TextEdit and Pages.
(To clarify, 'xxx' is not porn. I replaced the actual file name with 'xxx' for this post.... just incase you were wondering)
I was having kernel panics quite often before 10.5.2, and they don't seem to have stopped even after the upgrade. Someone mentioned that it might have been the aftermarket RAM I installed (which is fully up to apple specs btw). But I noticed something on the error report that leads me to think it might be my M-Audio firewire external sound card instead. I've highlighted the spot in red.

I can't seem to export my movie. I'm using the latest iMovie app. Whenever I try to export it, I get an error code -2125, which says "Unable to prepare project for publishing - The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred." I am trying to use remote disc on my iMac to access the 10.6 install disc. I used the the "Ask to use" option on my MacBook Air, and then selected "Ok" on my iMac to give permission. Despite this I get the above error.
I'm having issues setting up a Tri-boot system on my Macbook. I can't figure it out at all. I've created the partitions, and began installing XP. After the set up, the machine reboots to finish the install, but I get a 'disk error: press any key to reboot' error after the install. I am not installing though Bootcamp, and I have insured the drive is an NTFS drive, as that is reason the disk error usually appears.

I�m rebuilding a MacBook Air at work and ran into a problem....
After checking the install DVD I get the error:
The installer could not validate the contents of the 'BaseSystem' package
I�ve ran a simple Hardware Test and that came back ok, it�s currently running an extended hardware test.
I am using the original Air install DVD�s
I�ve tried erasing the drive (SSD 64GB) and that made no difference...
I�ve done some reading already on the net and this error usually points to a RAM issue, 3rd party RAM, but obviously this cant be the case with the Air...
Its a 1.8 Rev A with the original SSD and I�m using the Superdrive....

I have installed UnrarX a couple of times with no errors in the installation process, however the application does not appear in the applications folder or any where else and cannot find it to open .rar files.Â

I put the leopard install disk into my computer and started installing it. It went fine until it asked me where to install Leapord. With all other installs (applications, games, etc...) my hard drive will show up and that's what I'll click on, but here nothing shows up except my iPod that was plugged in. As a note, it worked on my other computers, but is not working on my G5.
