When I press the start button there is a delay of 3-4 seconds before the computer turns on and the sign in screen appears. Then when I shutdown it takes up to 4 minutes to actually turn off the screen.
I also ran a diagnostic check and received the error code HDD/11/4000000:SATA (0,0)... What I do next?

Every now and then It takes a while for the "close" button to register the click, it senses the mouse over as the button changes to show the X, but clicking does nothing, i have to wait a few seconds, retry.. then it works. Anyone else have this?

2. display would not turn on after pressing the power button but can still hear the apple start up chime and the system keep running with the screen off.Â
3. after erased the hard drive and re-installed Mavericks. Under a new installed system, it can run normally for about 1 day, after that especially after a shut down or restart, the problems above came back. Â
I am currently working in Thailand but I have no plan to go back to the US in a short period of time. I brought the laptop to the local apple service, they said it is certainly the logic board or GPU failure and the parts need to be replaced. The cost of the replacement is around half of the price that I paid for this laptop.

I have a macbook pro, bought it May last year(2008). I don't know much about computers, but I loved the transition between pc and mac, had no trouble with it, loved to work with it, until now. I had noticed it became slower like 3 weeks ago, and a week ago, it started to freeze up on me followed by a message that said please restart your computer by pressing the power button and the screen becomes dark. When I try to restart it again, it takes a while because it shuts down again and again, until the 10th time it works. The store told me to clean intall, which I did yesterday, it seemed to have worked, it was faster for sure, but today it happened again, 3 times! Has this happened to anyone? Does somebody know what to do?

I'd like to force quit just like in Windows when I press the Red Button. It's stupid that OS X minimizes it. ( programs consume alot of CPU power if you do this, I watched activity monitor and some programs use 10-20% in this state )

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a weird issue this morning. I started computer and it did not make the chime sound, it didn't do anything at all. I disconnected it from the extension cord as well as all the peripherals attached to it and nothing. I tried a different start up disk and again there wasn't a sound. Then i unplugged it and reset the SMU on the mother board and air sprayed the computer to remove all dust. Then plugged it back and it came back on.

my brother is having a problem with his unibody MacBook that he bought just a few months ago. It won't start when the power button is pressed, the sleep indicator light turns on and that's all. There's no start up tune, and nothing appears on screen. I had a similar problem with my MacBook Pro. I was told that the logic board needed to be replaced due to too much dust or moisture. Could this be the same problem? and has anyone else here ever had the same problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to Mac, I always had PC's, but yesterday a friend gave me a 20th anniversary Mac, he said it's old and haven't been used for ages. Well, I pulled it out of the box and thought this is a Cool Piece of Computer, plugged it in, but couldn't find the" On button". I did some research on the net and watched a couple of Video's on YouTube, first I was very surprised that this is some kind of fancy Mac, certainly looks good, keeping in mind the age, this was for sure way ahead of his time.
Long story short, the "Start button" on the right side top corner of the keyboard does not start the computer, to start it, I have to unplug the keyboard and reconnect it. After this is done, it appears to me that the thing is running fine, sound, video, tv, radio, touchpad, all the keys from the keyboard, everything works great besides starting the machine. One more thing, the Bios battery is bad, I had no change yet of getting a new one, could this be the reason?
So i pull the plug and wait 30 seconds and the light is still on when i put the plug back in. when i hold the force quit button. Nothing happens. the light just stays on.

I took it out of the computer and put it back in. (I did note that the plug looks a bit darkened but it does not smell burnt.) I tried it in a different outlet. Same thing. It won't turn on.I can't recall if this iMac is a G3 or G4 and I can't find my documentation to let you know. But I don't know that it matters which G it is. Ever since I installed Snow Leopard, once start-up is complete, I am not able to use the keyboard or track pad button for about 3-4 minutes. They are frozen - the cursor/arrow move according to trackpad/mouse movements, but anything kind of button/key input is not registered.

I've been using my Macbook Air for a while now. I noticed while I was working on my laptop, my 9 key keeps pressing by itself. I've tried to clean under the key and hitting it for the random keypress to stop, but it still continues. I would type somehow like this: 99h99e99999l99o9 or even worse.

I am having a really strange problem with my MBP (Stats are in my Sig) running 10.6.1. Whenever I start or restart my computer, the keyboard and track pad click are unresponsive at the login/password screen. The computer recognizes them and eventually enters them but the delay is almost 2 minutes long! I have logged out without restarting and I do not have this issue. I have tired repairing permissions, and resetting PRAM. I am thinking about an Archive and Install.

i found that my mac's "shift" key was kept being pressed.so i sent it to Apple,and they fixed it but after about 2 days of normal status,my mac become incredible slow.I cant even do my typing normally but this time i let a friend of mine to fix it, and he removed the ox system i had,repalced with XP the XP runs great but i didn't do much things in XP,cost i don't like it..so i turn my mac into OS system again then my mac runs normal but the whole things turned into a tragedy angain after i pressed "shift" mac become really slow ,and makes out big noise.I couldn't bear it , it's now the worst machine i have.does it still a hardware mistake with my "shift key".

Does anybody experience any delays with the auto graphics switching on the late 2010 MBPs? I mean serious delays? Mine seems to be very slow at making the switch. Say if I open a PDF that has a load of images in and start to scroll at high speed to scan the document, everything becomes very stuttery. Then, after a while (very random in how long it takes) everything starts to get smoother, when I assume the NVIDIA kicks in. I thought this was meant to be more-or-less instantaneous?
