So I got an 07' MBP and I need to overheat, my warranty is up in a month and the store tried screwing me out of a replacement. So I need to make it look legit. So, what kinds of applications will push my mac to overheating?
View 24 RepliesI am about to pull the trigger on either a booq Taipan Skin S or the Vyper XS2. I have an Aluminum 2.4 Macbook. I usually sleep my MB overnight and when I'm not using it, I usually shut it down about twice a week, but in the mean time it sleeps. Can the MB overheat when it's sleeping in its sleeve?
The only reason I ask that question is because there was a disclaimer on the Booq Vyper XS2 page;

I think they mean specifically for the old white and black MBs, but I was just curious. Has anyone had experience or heard of MBs overheating while sleeping in their sleeves?
And besides that, does anyone have experiences with either of these sleeves? I've heard good things. I'll put it in my backpack, so I'm deciding whether or not the extra $10 is worth it for the Vyper over the Taipan.
Some flash videos and particular sites cause my MBA to overheat and results in choppy playback, but for the most part the temp isn't a problem. Generally the temp is just fine, but as I progress through the video it gets more and more choppy. Eventually it's unwatchable. It doesn't matter how long I leave the MBA to rest/cool (minutes or hours) the playback is just as choppy when I restart.
I'm confused because I thought the playback issue was related to heat
Any ideas? My apologies if I've missed the answer in another thread.

I bought my MacBook Pro 13" in late December 2011,last month I noticed that my mac has an overheat problem, first I tought it was because I was using Photoshop all the time, so the battery went fully uncharged in like 1 hour or so, and it was hot that it burns... So I closed all the apps, thinking that maybe that will solve the problem, but no! My battery just don't last 1 hour, I go to tech support and they said my mac was ok, everything works fine... But I don't believe them...

Tight VNC has been nicest client with windows, good zooming etc. But how to use keyboard shortcuts with option-button? Alt-button in windows client interprets itself as command-key to Mac and AltGr in win is Alt for Mac. For example to reset Qmaster Preferences' services, you'll have to hover mouse on "Start Sharing" button and push Option to change the button to "Reset Services". (I know that qmaster can be reset from command line, but there's lots of other uses for option-key also...) Is there any way to do this? Also it would be nice to have international keyboards supported in VNC. Is this about server or client?

Anyway, I have a CD rev A Macbook, that I just installed Ubuntu with. I love it, but I am afraid one day it will overheat and cause my processor to melt. Is that possible? I have heard that if it gets to hot, that the thing will just shut off, but I don't want to take any chances.
Now that gmail is available for the iphone as exchange, it is possible to also get it to push email to desktop clients like mail.app? Theoretically, I can just follow the instructions for the iphone and apply it to mail.app right?

My iPhone gets mail pushed the second it is received, but it may take my Mail app on Snow Leopard several minutes to receive pushed mail unless I manually hit Get Mail. I've managed to get everything up and running with the exception of our scanner which is an Epson Perfection 1640SU.When I push the scan button on the scanner, the computer recognizes the scanner and comes up with a preview. I can make adjustments with the menus but I can not actually push the "scan" button because it is grayed out. I've attached a screenshot so people get an exact idea of what I'm dealing with.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI read alot of the overheat problems on IMac and tried most of the solution presented here.after i bought and installed the istat menus, i have noticed that it get overheated and get 120c very quickly only when i watch video through browsers, i can watch 5 bluray movies in a raw and it wont pass the 80c but 2 minutes in youtube and it burns, it must say something about the problem..

However, whenever I activate push for contacts on my iPhone it simply clears all of the contacts in my address book which have been put there from iTunes. I have to switch it off and then re-sync with iTunes to get them back.

Is this normal or is it supposed to only be pushed in about half way. When it ejects it seems that it pushes the disc out much further. Is there something you must do before inserting a cd, or do you just push it in?

I would like to have my emails from my university account pushed to my @me.com / iCloud account. basically, I've been doing that for years with another account but I have to forgotten how to set up a new account. I want to have all emails forwarded from that Office Outlook account.
Does anyone know where to do it? Can I set it up with iCloud or with the Office Outlook account of the university?
My push notification for Facebook & Twitterwere working absolutely fine for sometime now, till recentled my Face Book & Twitter passwords. I deleted the account from System Preferences -> Internet Accounts & added it back again, but that hasn't worked either.

My vga connection maxes out at 1024X768 on a 26in TV!! Would I get a higher resolution with an HDMI connection?
The VGA response rate is already a little slow. How will that affect movies and the like with HDMI in the event I can push a higher resolution.
