MacBook :: Need To Push DVD Nearly All The Way In Drive
Mar 15, 2010
Is it normal that I have to push the dvd nearly all the way in (like a 1/2 a centimenter left of the disc before it grabs?) It spits it out just fine but seems to not want to grab as early as I would expect. This normal?
Do I need to do anything other than shove the Cd all the way in? I put the CD in like 75% of the way and nothing happening. I am afraid to push it all the way in just in case it gets stuck. Does the MBP not suck it in you know?
I am new to mac. When I insert a cd/dvd into the slot loading drive, I have to push the cd in rather far before it actually catches it and pulls it in. Is this normal or is it supposed to only be pushed in about half way. When it ejects it seems that it pushes the disc out much further. Is there something you must do before inserting a cd, or do you just push it in?
So I got an 07' MBP and I need to overheat, my warranty is up in a month and the store tried screwing me out of a replacement. So I need to make it look legit. So, what kinds of applications will push my mac to overheating?
I've got a MacBook Pro 15' from late 2011. Now, I noticed that when I take my macbook to move it, I can push in the bottom plate to the point where I notice it is touching internal components. When the macbook is in front of me (normal working position), the place where I can push it in is on the right side. Is this normal or should I bring it in?Â

When I turn the computer quickly, or place it on table real fast, it says another click sound, from the right buttom corner..
How do I push my pages documents from my macbook pro to my phone and iPad?, How do I push my pages documents from my macbook pro to my phone and iPad? Also, how do I limit the amount of messages that are downloaded to my mail icon on my mac? Right now I have 26,000 messages showing and its slowing down my computer..
I assumed that push would allow my contacts to be updated anywhere to my phone and all my systems. However, whenever I activate push for contacts on my iPhone it simply clears all of the contacts in my address book which have been put there from iTunes. I have to switch it off and then re-sync with iTunes to get them back.
This seems retarded, but as far as I can tell, none of the mail apps I've looked at support push email on the desktop. Is there anything equivalent to "push" for desktop users? I have mail.app, Outlook 2011, etc. And none seem to support push. What gives? I mean, sure, I can check every minute, but it's just not the same.
Tight VNC has been nicest client with windows, good zooming etc. But how to use keyboard shortcuts with option-button? Alt-button in windows client interprets itself as command-key to Mac and AltGr in win is Alt for Mac. For example to reset Qmaster Preferences' services, you'll have to hover mouse on "Start Sharing" button and push Option to change the button to "Reset Services". (I know that qmaster can be reset from command line, but there's lots of other uses for option-key also...) Is there any way to do this? Also it would be nice to have international keyboards supported in VNC. Is this about server or client?
I would like to have my emails from my university account pushed to my @me.com / iCloud account. basically, I've been doing that for years with another account but I have to forgotten how to set up a new account. I want to have all emails forwarded from that Office Outlook account.Â
Does anyone know where to do it? Can I set it up with iCloud or with the Office Outlook account of the university?Â
My push notification for Facebook & Twitterwere working absolutely fine for sometime now, till recentled my Face Book & Twitter passwords. I deleted the account from System Preferences -> Internet Accounts & added it back again, but that hasn't worked either.
At any rate, does anyone know how many FLOPS the new Nehalem-based servers push? I'm in the process of designing a high-end server cluster and I'd very much like to be able to use Xserves; however, I cannot seem to find any good performance data (I'm looking for numbers here).
So I sprung for the quad core i5 a few weeks ago, and I want to know what I can do to really notice my investment. Too often I find myself just searching the web and checking my email which makes me feel like I would have been fine with the i3 for $300 less.
I am setting up a Lion Server which allows users to enroll their ipad, and want to send out push notification.
After I got a SSL cert, enroll the ipad. However, I could not see any way to push my notification to application in my ipad. So here is my question:Â
1. Does the APNs set up in the Lion Server Connecting to the gateway.apple.com:2195 or directly connect to the ipad? Because my target environment will be a private network.Â
2. How can I configure Lion Server so that it could send out push notification? ( either from apple or direcly push )
I recently moved to iCloud and yesterday my MobileMe account stopped working. I update my software to OSX Lion and how to psh my mail from my iCloud account back to my MobileMe account.?

I recently purchased a Mac mini As you all know, the Mac mini has its power on button in the rear of the computer. Due to a stroke I am in a wheelchair and my right side is paralyzed. This means that I have to have my mother or brother turn on the Mac mini for me. Does anyone know of a push button type of device that I can use to power on, and off, my Mac mini? While "push button" would be nice, the powering on device can be a switch. I fully realize that I can leave the Mac mini running 24/7 which I do very often. However, during thunder storms I like to shut the Mac mini off entirely. I do not want to take any chances. I know of a few people (including me with my old Power Mac) who left their computers on during a thunder storm and their computers got zapped.
Now that gmail is available for the iphone as exchange, it is possible to also get it to push email to desktop clients like mail.app? Theoretically, I can just follow the instructions for the iphone and apply it to mail.app right?
I have 4 accounts set up in Mail.app... Yahoo, GMail, Hotmail and iCloud. I want to enable push on them just like I did on my iPhone 4. I did gmail push on iPhone using the gmail exchange server. But its not known to work on the mac. So I tried instructions here and that magically worked for gmail but icloud and yahoo failed to get the email pushed.

Google has announced the intention to remove support for H.264 video playback from its Crome browser to "enable open innovation," yet still apparently plans to promote Adobe Flash. According to Google's product manager of Chrome Mike Jazayeri, the company will be "focusing our investments in those technologies that are developed and licensed based on open web principles," at least when it comes to WebM VP8 and Theora video codecs Google released after acquiring On2 last year. That effort excludes support for the ISO's MPEG 4 H.264 codec, which is commercially licensed by its pool of patent holders. Google is apparently not exercising the same principles when it comes to supporting Adobe Flash, which unlike H.264, is completely proprietary to one company rather than being administered by a standards body.
I have Snow Leopard's Mail App configured with my university's Exchange 2007 server. My iPhone gets mail pushed the second it is received, but it may take my Mail app on Snow Leopard several minutes to receive pushed mail unless I manually hit Get Mail. Any idea why this would be or how I can fix it?
I've been looking around and I have yet to find an explanation or guide on how I could push shortcuts to websites and applications to the IOS/OSX Desktop or Dock via profile manager? I feel like the functionality is there, but I'm just missing something really obvious.
My computer shows an upward facing arrow and makes a clicking noise when i hit the shift button, if i hold it down it switches into caps lock ... how can i get out of this mode?
