This seems retarded, but as far as I can tell, none of the mail apps I've looked at support push email on the desktop. Is there anything equivalent to "push" for desktop users? I have mail.app, Outlook 2011, etc. And none seem to support push. What gives? I mean, sure, I can check every minute, but it's just not the same.

I'm bad at Photoshop. I really wish for the 3 user customizable keys, personally I would use the top two buttons for previous/next Space, and the bottom key to switch to my iTunes. And the trackpad to the right could be used for customizable multitouch gestures, so you can move around spaces easily, scroll with 2 fingers if you have a desktop and not a laptop, etc. I think it's very important that Apple includes multitouch for desktop users and not just laptop people.

View 8 Replies View Relatedwhen I switch users on my mid 2007 iMac (with Mavericks 10.9.3), the background pictures resizes and the dock doesnt load. I've noted also that switching applications via command+tab doesn't show the icons of the applications, and when accessing "Notifications", it doesnt draw correctly on the screen (the area of the notifications center appears on the right of the screen, but an extension of the notifications is also drawn under hte desktops icons).

I am trying to find a mac application that will act like a "bulletin" or "cork" board for my desktop.
A physical cork board in your office allows you to pin up certain ideas, articles, etc. I'm trying to find something like this for my desktop. What I ideally want to do is have something that opens up full screen, and will allow me to track projects that I have in different stages of development. I have a CRM that I use now for the details, I essentially just want to see the project names, organized by where they are in my development cycle.
For ex:
Early Development = Project A, B, C
Ready for Deplolyment = Project D, E, F
Deployed = Project G, H, I
Etc. And it would easily allow me to drag and drop projects according to where they are in the cycle, for ex, Project A, from Early Development to Ready for Deployment.
I am envision something that looks like iCal, except allows a bigger picture view that just months/weeks/days. It might be an app for the Dashboard, or something else.
I can do this very easily with a physical cork or magnet board, but I'd love an application that could pop up on my giant Mac display with the same info.
Today when we started trying to add users to our server (we use it only for afp access at this time), we noticed that new users belonging to a group "storage" were unable to login from client machines via afp (clients both 10.7.2 and 10.6.8). Â
When we tried editing the users accounts to change which groups they belonged to, it would appear in workgroup (and server preferences) that the changes would take but there was still no access.Â
As a test case, we modified an existing user who had no issues logging in to belong to a diffenent group and have different sharepoint access. The changes looked good in workgroup and server prefs, but when the user logged in, he was only able to acces his old sharepoint and not the new one (and since his permissions to the old were removed, he shouldn't have access to that sharepoint).Â
Also, for some reason users cannot be deleted within workgroup manager any more. The login used was the diradmin account.

I am currently am MBA student and must create projects using power point/ keynote, very often. Many of the power points/ keynotes created by students are informative but lack the ability to hold an audience’s attention (boring). Since I have this wonderful Macbook pro, I would like to create a dynamic keynote presentation which would include clips of audio and video files (I already know about converting keynote to power point). The only problem is, the videos I want to use in the keynote presentation are not able to be manipulated in iMovie (due to their format), and if they where able to be manipulated in iMovie, I’m not sure that PC users would be able to properly view them.
What video format (including embedded audio) is able to be viewed and heard by both OSX Lion users and Windows users?  If this is possible, can anyone suggest a safe application that I can purchase from the apple app store that will allow me to convert video files (including embedded audio) so that it can be viewed by both Lion and PC users? Preferably one that does not need access to the internet in order to convert the files ( I’m on the go allot and use an air card for internet access), but I will take it if this is the best option. If the app store does not have this type of application, is there a place that I can download a safe one?Â

Do I need to do anything other than shove the Cd all the way in? I put the CD in like 75% of the way and nothing happening. I am afraid to push it all the way in just in case it gets stuck. Does the MBP not suck it in you know?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI assumed that push would allow my contacts to be updated anywhere to my phone and all my systems. However, whenever I activate push for contacts on my iPhone it simply clears all of the contacts in my address book which have been put there from iTunes. I have to switch it off and then re-sync with iTunes to get them back.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to mac. When I insert a cd/dvd into the slot loading drive, I have to push the cd in rather far before it actually catches it and pulls it in. Is this normal or is it supposed to only be pushed in about half way. When it ejects it seems that it pushes the disc out much further. Is there something you must do before inserting a cd, or do you just push it in?

Alt-button in windows client interprets itself as command-key to Mac and AltGr in win is Alt for Mac. For example to reset Qmaster Preferences' services, you'll have to hover mouse on "Start Sharing" button and push Option to change the button to "Reset Services". (I know that qmaster can be reset from command line, but there's lots of other uses for option-key also...) Is there any way to do this? Also it would be nice to have international keyboards supported in VNC. Is this about server or client?

My vga connection maxes out at 1024X768 on a 26in TV!! Would I get a higher resolution with an HDMI connection?
The VGA response rate is already a little slow. How will that affect movies and the like with HDMI in the event I can push a higher resolution.
So I sprung for the quad core i5 a few weeks ago, and I want to know what I can do to really notice my investment. Too often I find myself just searching the web and checking my email which makes me feel like I would have been fine with the i3 for $300 less.

After I got a SSL cert, enroll the ipad.However, I could not see any way to push my notification to application in my ipad. So here is my question:Â

I've got a MacBook Pro 15' from late 2011. Now, I noticed that when I take my macbook to move it, I can push in the bottom plate to the point where I notice it is touching internal components. I am using Xcode to learn C from a windows-oriented "teach yourself" book. The executable file for the Hello World! program ends in .exe.I imagine that this would run if you double-clicked it in a windows operating system. Is there an equivalent extension for the mac? Or is it always only ran through the terminal program in the Xcode program?
