View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to change the default cd/dvd-rom from the internal drive to an external drive on a Macbook OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger)? If not permanently, then for the time my computer is on (e.g., a button at start up)
My internal drive does not work and I want to install Windows XP on Parallels but it keeps looking for the cd on the internal drive. I tried making an .iso image of it and telling it where it is, but it still keeps looking for the internal cd drive.
I recently purchased Adobe Master Suite and installed it to my MBP. I found that this was a mistake cause it cluttered my brand new MBP. So I uninstalled it and realized how cluttered my MBP is already. I was wondering is there away that I can clear everything and re-install the OS without slowing down the Mac in any way?

But I remember that when I installed it before, it did. So obviously I was running 64-bit mode. Did yours come by default with 64-bit mode? Should I go ahead and change it back to 64-bit mode?

What is the default available drive space out of the box? Also considering installing Vware or Parallels with either XP pro or Vista. Given the 2GB of ram, how much ram is typically allocated to each of these VM's to balance performance on the VM side as well as the OSX side?

I am running clamshell now, but wondering if it's possible to boot clamshell by default without opening the laptop and removing the screen completely.
I'm asking this as I want to boot from an external optical so that I can run some HD utils, and I'm not sure I'll be able to do both at boot without a default screen that works.

I've recently dual-booted Mac with Ubuntu and now when I reload the router it boots up with Ubuntu's grub loader where i see an entry for Mac for both 32-bit and 64-bit. Both options, however, don't work. I have to press option key on bootup to select the HDD containing Mac OS to boot into it. View 2 Replies View RelatedI just purchased my first ever Mac yesterday. I've wanted one for years.
I'm trying to install some programs and when I attempt to, Installer prompts me for a Username and Password.
I was never asked while setting up my computer whether or not I wanted to assign my computer with a Username or password.
The Username field is already filled in with "Apple Owner" and the Password field is blank.
Does anyone know if there is a default Username and Password and if so, what it is?
Played around with the display settings and can now not get them back to the way they were!
Anyone who can enlighten me on how to reset the default display settings?
I have a MBP with OSX 10.5.7 and Windows 7 RC installed (created the partition with bootcamp, then installed 7 manually). When I boot, I can hold down the option key to select which partition I want to boot. But if I forget, it always boots into Windows. Is there a way to change the default partition to boot OSX instead of Windows by default?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook and a screen plugget to it. Now I use just the new screen and don't use the macbook one. But every time I turn the mac on the macbook screen turns on, and I have to decrease the brightness manually every time. (cause it's a waste of energy to keep it on if I don't use it). So I'd like to know to set the screen brightness to 0 by default, so I don't have to turn the brightness down every time.
