All of a sudeene when I use Safari, it opens and takes up my whole screen. I want to make it smaller, but the top of the tool bar only shows the back button and the bar, I do not see Safari or any of the red, green and yellow buttons. I'm not sure how this happened, but my grandson was using my computer to check his email and after that, Safari changed to this.

All of sudden OpenDNS started blocking certain sites. I never signed up with them.I live alone so no one could have done it for me.I cleared cache, reset safari, added DNS servers 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220I even joined OpenDNS and found to I had no preferences.

I have just recently installed Lion on my iMac. Even though I have Firefox listed as my default browser in both Firefox and in Safari, any links in Apple mail default to Safari rather than to Firefox and any URL's I save in Firefox default to the Safari icon. While I understand that Safari is an Apple product that is tied to their OS's, I want to continue to use Firefox as my default browser.

I've had my MBP for about a year and recently I noticed that when I open Safari or Firefox it takes FOREVER to load a page.Even a small page like Google! I tried a reset for both browsers but that didn't help.I did some maintenance but no help there either.
This is my first Mac so I wanted to ask if I'm missing something.. should I be doing something maintenance-like that I'm not?

Safari doesn't reload fast and crashes / hangs frequently. Youtube takes a long time to load and when it's up, the visuals, audio are jerky. Vimeo hardly loads up. This machine is only about a month old and it acts up sluggishly. Some other programs running are slow too.

I am running a MacPro 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 8 GB RAM and OS 10.6.6 that is connected to an AirPort Extreme connected to a Westell DSL modem. Lately I have been experiencing strange behavior that I can not solve. When I first start up, Safari and Mail generally launch and work properly. But after a while, from 10 minutes to an hour, I get strange behavior. In Safari, pages take a long time to load- with a spinning beach ball for several minutes. Or they don't load at all. In Mail, I can't get new mail- a get a message that I'm not connected to the internet. When I go to System Preferences and check the Network, it says I am connected.
Rebooting usually solves the problem, but I am forced to reboot once an hour or so. Also, other programs show strange behavior- either failing to launch or crashing. This happens frequently with Photoshop Elements 9 and occasionally with Pages. I am also running a PowerPC Dual 2.3 GHz using OS 10.5.8 off the AirPort Extreme that runs fine and experiences none of these problems. Both machines are connected by ethernet cables to the AirPort Extreme.
replace flash as the default. apple has had a special arrangement with Google from the iPhones inception to link mobile Safari directly to youtubes HTML site, do you think this is a possibility on the mac, obviously not to ban flash(the government wouldn't approve of that) but to replace it as the default?

When I have Safari running, and then launch Windows via Parallels Desktop, everything slows to a crawl. If I quit either Safari or Parallels Desktop, everything goes back to full speed. It seems like some kind of degeneration. I had this problem a while back. I created a new user account on my Mac and started using that and voila, Safari and Parallels worked fine together again. But over time the problem has crept into my new account.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy safari icon was moved from my dock to my desktop. I am trying to move it back and not have the icon on my desktop. But everytime I drag it to the dock it leaves the icon on my desktop and puts one in the dock. I tried command drag but it didn't work and if I erase the icon on my desktop I loose the whole program. And my kids have an account for themselves and the safari icon is missing completely and they cant get on the internet at all using there account. Can I put the icon back in there account without deleting there account and starting a new one.

So, like a complete idiot i downloaded a torrent file with a few thousand font files. i installed them all and it has bogged down my OS and taken over programs like Safari, firefox and entourage (which i use for email). when i change the font in the preference menu in the respective program it will change the size but not the actual font style. another strange thing is that safari will not load pictures now either.
i want to just wipe the hdd but i do not have a disc because i bought it used. i can take it back to the guy i got it from as he refurbishes macs but i was wondering if i could avoid the trip if any one has a tip or two for me.
I just ordered a new Macbook Pro (with Retina Display).It's my first MBP since 2007.I'm super excited about it, minus one glaring issue. My harddrive is the baseline 251 GB SSD. I've hardly used the thing besides loading some music and movies onto it. However, when I look at the'About this Mac' window, it says I'm using 51.89GB in Other.Compared to only 11GB in Movies and 2GB in Audio.It's hard for me to believe that the operating system takes up a whopping 50GB..How can I account for this Other section?

So over the last month or 2, I have been having this issue where my MBP (early 2008) will act as though the desktop doesnt exist. I can see it, everything functions normally, all programs operate fine, I can use spaces, expose, etc, but when I try to interact with my desktop, nothing works. It displays a lightish blue screen with the loading symbol as seen below the apple logo when starting up any machine. The display is not living up to expectation, but worse are issues waking up from sleep and unexplainable pinwheeling (during low cpu/memory/disk usage periods, etc)Anyway, based on previous experience with apple, i suspect they'll resort to the catchall new logic board solution they usually go to. My concern is that I've upgraded my HDD to a 500GB WD. Usually I would drop the stock 250 in there for the purpose of having it serviced and just put my 500 back when I got the machine back. The issue now is that the 250 is being used in another machine, and this would be a giant headache.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIts taking about 3-5 minutes to log out and I dont know why I have disconnected a usb without ejecting it before, and also declined an microsoft autoupdate from Word. when im logging out, the screen turns blue and theres a spinning circle at the bototm. after that, the log in screen is not able to be clicked on anything, and it will take about 5-10 minutes to be able to be clicked and log in.
