Is there another way to format my macbook with the cds? Is there like software or something I can do?
just a couple of minutes ago my screen did thiswhile I was switching around in Spaces. Also, it is not image problem because i took a screenshot and nothing was wrong on that. Anyone care to give me any information on what this is or how to fix it before I goto the Genius Bar?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe fan in my Alu Macbook has given up the ghost. Regardless of temp it never switches on, so I need to get it replaced. There's an Apple Store opening up in the town I work this week, so I was wondering if this is the sort of fault they can fix while I wait?
View 9 Replies View Relatedso I was doing the ironing and watching a movie on my macbook and when I was done and clearing stuff up the ironing board thing kinda folded in half and my laptop dropped to the floor with a loud thud (onto a wooden floorboard)Basically the screen looks like when you break a glass window but it hasn't fallen apart, you just see loads of cracks at the point of impact...I have an apple care thing, but will this be covered under the guarantee or something? The laptop is over 1 year old and otherwise any idea how much it will cost, etc?Furthermore, will I be able to recover all my documents and stuff on it?

I just checked my iStat and it shows that my temperature is around 70C, is this considered as normal? I think it's too hot for an i5
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my 13" MacBook Pro back from being repaired (apple replaced the display and the logic board), and now it is running at 83 degrees C (according to iStat Pro) and the fans are only at 2000rpm. Is that normal? My computer never used to be this hot. I can't even hear the fans running.
View 17 Replies View RelatedFrom the time I bought my new Macbook in Mid-February, it gets hot over small stuff.... and starts getting way hot when i start playing any game like CivilisationV, Sims3 etc.Sometimes its CPU temperature reaches ~93 degrees Celsius and Fan Speen reaches 6500 rpm according to istat pro of Dashboard, and it gets difficult to even rest my palm on the sides of touchpad and keypad.. I contacted customer care here, and they said to make a backup cuz they will put Lion again.. Is it Operating System's fault? Dirt's Fault? Manufacturer defect? or is it Normal? My Charger adapter also gets wayy too much hot after around 20 minutes that I cudnt even touch it!

Some of you probably will remember my post a week ago, saying that my MBP DVD drive killed my OSX Installation DVD. here is the conclusion of it, I took it authorised service center here in North Thailand. Waited for a week they sad they will change DVD drive and today it finally arrived. Around 11am they called me and said dude, we changed the drive the problem is still there cant install system. Your "Logic Board' is screwed, you have to wait at least 1 week for a new one.
Now what is logic board? Is that main board? Is it possible for computer to still work with a broken mainboard? I mean I didnt damage it, I had kernell panic and tried to re-install OSX so how could that killed my MPB? I still could boot into disk utility and format the drive was just unable to copy files. To be honest my MBP is 3 months old, i took a good care of it. And I'm very very very dissapointed in apple computers now, expensive and damn un-reliable.
I have a 2006 macbook with Leopard. I need to use the garage band that came with my original Tiger installation discs. The problem is that my CD R/RW is broken and will not read any CD.
I read some tutorials to boot from a flash drive, but need to read from the optical drive in the same machine.
I need to make a flash drive with a bootable tiger from my PC.
ok so my hard drive broke on my macbook. I got a new one put into my macbook and it works fine, but now i have a broken hard drive sitting at my house.. . what is something fun i can do with this ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAbout 2 weeks ago I discovered that for some reason neither my Iphone or Ipod Touch would show up on iTunes when I connected it. Initially I thought it was an iTunes error but then quickly realized that neither a USB drive nor my 500GB HDD would recognize as well. Well, I thought that it might have been a software error so I proceeded to do a reinstall, everything was backed up on my Time Capsule so I had nothing to worry about. But guess what? My MBA wouldn't even recognize the SuperDrive. I tried to do a network reinstall but for some reason it would always just HANG upon trying to wirelessly connect to a remote PC for reinstallation.
So basically right now I don't know what to do. All my files are backed up on Time Capsule which is good. Although I can't wipe the MBA or do a reinstall because I can't access the reinstallation CD. I have sensitive sources files on my macbook air related to work that I'm uncomfortable just handing over to the genius bar. Any suggestions on what I should do? Any alternatives on how I might do a reinstall and then be able to bring it in to the genius bar to get this USB fixed. This single USB Hub is the Achilles heel of the MBA, I am now 100% assured of that. Also SPECS: MBA 128SSD RevB.
i have a macbook (core duo 1.8G, not core 2 duo). i lent it to my sister b/c i have a work laptop and no longer need the macbook. but after a week, the logic board broke, and my sis said she took it to a store and was quoted $350 to fix it. i am not sure if it is worth fixing anymore.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else have a squeaky hinge on a Rev C or any other? I hear all the talk about lose hinges and broken hinges but the absolute only worry (and it is not a big one) I have about my magnificent two month old Air is the squeak it makes sometimes when I open it up. I suppose that a too tight hinge could lead to a broken hinge but it doesn't sound like the kind of squeak that could lead to breakage. But who knows. If I open it very slowly it doesn't make it. Eventually I'll probably take it in, but not for now. Everything else looks and works too well.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook Pro 15.4" (Model: A1211). The LCD screen is broken and Iam trying to replace it. The original panel that came with the laptop was AU Optronics (BP154W01 V.1) with native resolution of 1440x900. Since I could not get the same panel, I ordered the LG Philips, LP154W02 B1 K2, model with a native resolution of 1680x1050.
Now, when I powerup the laptop the screen remains dark and the machine does not boot up. PS: With the damaged LCD connected, I connected the laptop to an external display and everything works perfectly.
I have a broken lower case near the cd super drive entrance. My macbook pro is a early 2008 Peryn one. I was wondering if you guys know what kind of product I could use to make it stick right there. Would you guys just leave it alone, not try to glue it or something? Here are some pictures: [URL]
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up an old macbook as a server and I am having a few problems getting the macbook to perform properly.
I know that one of the RAM slots are broken, should that effect the system if their is no RAM in that slot?
I get the occasional read/write error suggesting that their might be something wrong with the hard drive not sure what to do about that. I have zeroed out the HD twice as I herd that that figures out what memory blocks are still writable but it was of no help.
There is definitely something wrong and I need to test everything to make sure that it's working. I am running memtest as I speak. Is there anything I can do to check the performance of my HD?
The main problem I am having is that if I use software update, or try to install Snow Leopard the macbook reboots and sticks on the blue screen with a mouse. I have to reinstall the OS to get it to work again... this has happened a few times now. This also happens if I install a hardware demanding program such as Adobe Photoshop CS4 and reboot.
Installation was easy, I used the ifixit guide. But - and I am still slapping myself for it - I broke the battery during installation.
Following the ifixit guide I removed the battery to have more room for the installation of the SSD. The battery came off very easily, but unfortunately with the socket from the motherboard still attached.
I have tried to reinstall it, but apparently the contact is to loose. It does not stick to the motherboard and I am wondering how Apple attached it in the first place.
My Macbook Air still works on AC - and the Runcore is a breeze - but it will not recognize the battery. That means my svelte MBA is no chained to my desk.
I sold my macbook pro 2.2ghz (still in my possession) and am trying to get my photos and stuff off of it before i restore it. I have connected it to an external monitor before with success (the computer works perfectly minus the broken screen) but for some reason i can't get it to hook up again. I know it's due to my incompetence that I can't get it to connect so some help/ tips would be appreciated.
Should I already have the monitor plugged in before i turn the computer or plug it in after it's on?Is the f7 button the button to push to switch which monitor is being used?I just can't figure it out since the screen is broken. Thanks
I have a broken fan in my 2008 MBP. The broken fan is on the side where my right hand is so im assuming thats thr right fan on the MBP. It still spins a bit but is insanely loud but my MBP performance has dropped considerably lately and im wondering if there is any correlation between the two. The main issue is video.
Videos that used to stream fine low lag and are choppy and working in Final Cut and After Effects has become quite the slow and verrrrrry choppy process. All things were working out smoothly until recently. I am getting the fan replaced next week and hope it remedies these problems. If anyone has any experience with this I would love to hear it!
I just found a working macbook with a broken screen being sold for $60 on craigslist. I asked the seller for specs and she said she doesn't know the details except for the model # (which is A1181). It comes with no power adapter or software. Is there any way I can I test the computer to know if it is worth buying when I get there? I want to make sure it is able to run properly before investing in a screen. I have a 13" macbook. When I was at the apple store today, the employee was able to run diagnostics on my computer with his MBP without having to touch my computer. (Edit: There was a cord running between both computers, and my comp. was running, but everything was being done through his OS). Is there an easy way for me to do the same thing?

So last monday I was recording my guitar (via the audio line ofc, not mic) on my macbook. I plugged the cable in the wrong hole from my speaker. I turned the volume all the way up. Then I noticed I plugged it into the wrong port on my speaker, without remembering it was on maximum volume. Then I played a note on my guitar, and my macbook imediately shat down, by the fact it wasn't plugged into the wall. There is no damage for the internal sound. But when I plug in my headset/mic, there is barely no sound, unless I use a booster, but then I get uncompleted, bad, distorted sound!

View 6 Replies View RelatedAccording to istatpro my fan exhaust speed when not doing anything (ie straight away when I turn the laptop on) is 1800rpm and I can hear fan noise on the right hand side when just sat normally using the laptop (ie not with my ear to it!). Is this fan speed and noise normal? Because on my old powerbook, when doing nothing, made no fan noise at all.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the latest iteration of the MBP 2.2 ghz. When plugged into a wall socket (220v here in HK), if I touch the lid I can feel a light electrical current in my hand - similar to the feeling of electric massagers, a light vibrating feeling. I didn't notice this while plugged in in the States (though I bought the comp here in HK). It doesn't hurt, but is this normal, or something I should be concerned about?
View 15 Replies View RelatedLately my year old macbook has been getting very hot when I watch videos on Safari. If I pause the video it cools down fairly quickly but this never used to happen. I looked at the CPU usage using Activity Monitor while this was happening and Safari was consistently around 100. Also, when I am on the dashboard CPU usage of inoRT jumps to over 150%. This does not seem normal.
