Is there a way to make another player as a default instead of Quick Time Player? It seems like the player doesn't support international dramas.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since I installed Lion I have had a problem opening attachments to emails which are videos. Most of them I can open with VLC and a few with WMV Player, but none with Quick Time. If they are on my iPad or iPhone I can open them with VLC and send them to others. If they are on my Macbook Air I cannot send them because the email goes without the attachment.

When we put the cd into our macbook pro and play it through QT Player the video pauses and stutters and the audio is not synced up to the lips, and that's if and when the audio does come on. The CD is fine as it does play as it should on the pc desktop that we have. What are we doing wrong?

The clips are good, but my family is eager to watch the files on TV, & it is an ordeal & too time consuming to have to go into a video & DVD editor for everything I or my family shoot with my digicam. I recently reinstalled Quicktime, now everytime I download an .MP3 file to my desktop or wherever, it has Quicktime as the default MP3 player..... Even when I right click it and do Open With... and select Always Open With (iTunes) it just selects that one file to open with iTunes everytime. I was seeing if there was a way to make iTunes my default MP3 player for all mp3s..... It seems to only be occuring with newly downloaded files. All my older MP3's still open in iTunes.

I have a slightly older Macbook Pro, on OSX 10.5.8.I have a bunch of video files on a wireless networked hard drive and the directory mapped to my desktop for easy access.I also have VLC installed for video playback.All the files are *.m4v.
When I click to open one of these files it starts copying the whole file over the network to my iTunes, and insisting on opening from iTunes.If I click on File -> Open With -> it shows iTunes as the default.I can click on File -> Open With -> VLC and this works just fine.But how do I change the default video player?All I want to do is stream it over my internal home network, I don't want copy the darn file every time I want to play something.

have in the past few weeks uprgraded from tiger to leopard.Everything has been ok but i think i might have deleted some vital part of Quicktime player when i tried to clean up.I only realised this when i decided to get Quicktime player pro which i have paid for and have the key..I have tried to download quicktime from apple support website and just about any other website for that matter but zero.zilch.Installer takes me through the process but i get no player.
I have tried to remove all components of quicktime but to no avail.the download intalls but goes nowhere.Have tried to maybe 'jumpstart' it by double clicking quicktime time movies but there is just nothing going on.

Digital movies play just fine on my camera, a NIkon Coolpix but once I import them to either quicktime or windows media player they do not play smoothly. Any ideas why or what I can do to correct this?

i had vlc as my default player for video files when i first installed it but then when i updated it to version 1.02 its not the default for any file. i know there is a way to make it the default player for individual file types, but i would like it to be the default for ALL video files. i have looked in the preferences but couldnt find anything.
