I am getting a little frustrated. Everytime I start my computer Word, Excel and other programs open. I have tried the following which hasn't helped.
1. I went into system preferences into User/Groups, logins and deleted all items.
2. Hovered over the word in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, clicked options, unchecked open at login. (I have been closing down the application before loging off)
Other than that I am not sure how to stop these from opening.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs stated above I upgraded my memory to Crucial 8G 1067 mhz DDR3. The initial results were outstanding however over the past few months the performance has decreased and I'm now getting the spinning ball often. Additionally the startup seems very sluggish. I use Onyx for maintenance and do not have any startup programs. I have also reset the kernel cache. (If I remember correctly)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with my programs crashing lately, and the message is always the same : Bad Access Kern Protection Failure. Often they crash as they're opening, and restarting them works, but sometimes they crash for no apparent reason while I'm using them. Affected programs are After Effects CS3, After Effects 7, Cinema 4D, Photoshop CS3, ITunes, even Safari and Mozilla Firefox. More or less all my programs.
I've run Disk Warrior, validated my fonts, removed programs that seemed to be problematic, trashed preferences, and the problem keeps occurring.
I've noticed other people on this site have posted the same problem but I can't see the responses.I'm on a Mac G5 with a Dual 2 Ghz Power PC Processor, 4 GB of RAM, Mac OS 10.4.11.

I'm having a small problem with my Mac. Every time I start up Aperture seems to open automatically. I've made sure it's not in the list of start up programs and it only started doing this since yesterday (monday).
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I log in using Lion, Mail, Entourage, and ICal open on my desktop.I already tried unchecking the restore windows box under system preferences/general; sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. The only way to stop it seems to be to uncheck the similar box that appears when you shut down the computer, but you have to do it each time, and I think it doesn't always work either. The options features in the dock items don't seem to work--they're already unchecked, and the windows still open. I don't want everyone else in my family to see my mail as soon as the computer opens and it's really annoying besides.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an iBook G4 running OS 10.3.9.
For the past few days, this message: "Your startup disk is almost full" has been popping up. I've burned some CDs of photos, deleted unwanted files, music, etc. After deleting these things and emptying the trash, it told me I had just over 2GB of free space. However, this free space is getting smaller and smaller (even when I didn't have any applications open..). It seems to be just disappearing. In the space of about 12 hours (most of which I spent sleeping with the laptop turned off..), I seem to have gone down to 1.18GB. When I restart the computer, it sometimes tells me that I have what seems to be a random small number of MB or GB, sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller than what it originally told me, or even 0 when I restart, even though I haven't actually made any new files or downloaded anything!

I have an iMac and it is about 4 years old. For some reason it is very slow starting up, takes about 90 seconds. Opening even a normal app like Firefox takes sometimes 2 minutes.
I had the harddrive replaced as part of one of the recall programmes form Apple as the OEM drive was malfunctioning, that made it slightly better, but soon after the old poor performance was back.
I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?
on startup, macbook pro showed flashing gray folder with question mark, but no startup. After several retries, now shows circle with diagonal diameter, and still no startup. worked fine yesterday.
