Just recently my cursor started moving erratically and it's difficult to click where intended. The screen gets big and small without my touching the trackpad. What's wrong - is it a virus or a malfunction in the trackpad? I have an OS X 10.9.5

I just received my new Macbook Pro yesterday. I am wondering why my mail program and calendar automatically launches upon startup.

I am getting a little frustrated. Everytime I start my computer Word, Excel and other programs open. I have tried the following which hasn't helped.
1. I went into system preferences into User/Groups, logins and deleted all items.
2. Hovered over the word in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, clicked options, unchecked open at login. (I have been closing down the application before loging off)
Other than that I am not sure how to stop these from opening.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI've been having this weird problem for a while now, and the thing is that, after a while of having my macbook on, i suddenly touch (as i touch and not click) the trackpad and it instantly turns the screen off, leaving no sounds, no response from volume keys/powerbutton(only shuts down if held like 10 secs) nor screen brightness keys. Also, the keyboard lights stay on, and it stays like that until I force shut down with the powerbutton. When I turn it back on it has the "inform apple about bug crash" dialogue.

I'm looking for a way to "Open at Login" various programs I have in my dock without opening the main window (like Mail, Skype, MSN and so on). Any idea?

I've been having problems with my programs crashing lately, and the message is always the same : Bad Access Kern Protection Failure. Often they crash as they're opening, and restarting them works, but sometimes they crash for no apparent reason while I'm using them. Affected programs are After Effects CS3, After Effects 7, Cinema 4D, Photoshop CS3, ITunes, even Safari and Mozilla Firefox. More or less all my programs.
I've run Disk Warrior, validated my fonts, removed programs that seemed to be problematic, trashed preferences, and the problem keeps occurring.
I've noticed other people on this site have posted the same problem but I can't see the responses.I'm on a Mac G5 with a Dual 2 Ghz Power PC Processor, 4 GB of RAM, Mac OS 10.4.11.
I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?
I have an late 08 unibody Mbp and a 11 mba, I have noticed the glass trackpad on the air is much closer to the glass on an iphone in the way your finger reacts to it... the least bit of moisture and your finger doesn't glide as easily. On the pro it seems to have more of a coating to allow for smoother use under these normal conditions (humidity). Has anyone else noticed this? bottom line the air trackpad almost seems more polished.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MB's trackpad button is spoilt, I think there's something wrong with the spring which makes it unclickable and sometimes remains pressed.
Is there anyway to disable only the trackpad button but not the whole trackpad? Tapping still works, but the MB mistakens it as dragging sometimes because the button is stuck as a pressed button.
Just today it began that when I try and open iChat from the Menu Bar icon, the whole right side of the menu bar reboots. Anyone else experienced this or have an idea of steps I can take to fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I depress my trackpad (the one built into my MBP 15" mid 2009) It is doing a slight squeak...Now I'm meticulous about how well I keep my beloved MBP... but I do use it everyday for many things (Including design, word processing, accounts, pwning the microsoft network at my office)
But I am guessing that these things are built to last... and shouldn't have an effect on how much I have used it right... Should I take it to Apple and let them have a look at it is there a quick thing that I can do to mend it? Or should I just get over it and accept it as quirk of it's character?

I hear a lot of different things/opinions about what software runs PC programs the best on a Mac. I'm a Macn00b so whatever is the easiest to run with/operate is probably going to be the best for me. So, my question is, what is the best software to run PC programs on your Mac?
What are some programs you use that you feel are necessary? What do they do? Why are they necessary? I use smcFanControl, gfxCardStatus, and iStat. smcFanControl obviously lets you control your fan speed. gfxCardStatus lets you choose your graphic card or use the default dynamic switching. iStat is of course the famous widget that basically tells you everything you need to know about whats going on inside. I feel all of these are necessary for me to have complete control of my Macbook Pro.

I am getting my first MacBook Pro tomorrow, and i am just curious as to how i could run Windows only software on it. It will only be a couple of games and music software, but i dont have the OSX version, and i dont really want to buy a new version. I'd rather get a free program that does the same thing as Paralells, but if there is any other paid software that is reliable id like to know.
