OS X V10.7 Lion :: Control Which Programs Are Opened At Startup?
Jul 4, 2012
I was wondering where I can go to control which programs open when LION starts up. At rge moment my calander alerts and address book open up but I would like to keep them from doing this.
Info:MacPro 2.66, Mac OS X (10.6.7), GB ram.. iLife 08 /Aperture / CS 5
Just upgraded to Lion and on startup several programs (FaceTime, Mail, Safari, Calander) all launch automatically. Can this be changed and how to do it?
How do I start iMac in a basic mode with no extensions or startup programs. I had it freeze when " Little Stitch" started to run and asked to open a Port. Then freeze.
So recently, whenever I use my MacBook Pro and I open a program (such as iTunes) or even the internet browser (Safari), the program will just close as soon as I open it or while I'm using it. And sometimes it takes forever to just re-open.
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
When I opened safari my homepage was apple and it opened using the middle of the display with the desktop screensaver visable on both sides of the page now it opens adn takes up the whole screen I don't know how to resize it and save it where it will open to the same all the time. I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm a 70 year old guy that's ben drug into the 21 century and trying to keep up (not very good )
As stated above I upgraded my memory to Crucial 8G 1067 mhz DDR3. The initial results were outstanding however over the past few months the performance has decreased and I'm now getting the spinning ball often. Additionally the startup seems very sluggish. I use Onyx for maintenance and do not have any startup programs. I have also reset the kernel cache. (If I remember correctly)
I need to know how do I choose which programs should open when I start up my MacBook. At the moment the Office 2011 opens up all it's programs and I want to stop that from happening.
If I log into Windows as a normal user (not administrator) and open the Boot Camp Control Panel, I'll be missing the Startup Disk pane. The only ones available are Brightness, Keyboard and Trackpad.
Is there any way to get the startup disk tab to appear while logged in as a normal user? I don't like the idea of having to run as an administrator all the time in Windows.
Latest update of lion and all updates done.. gettint the error message when trying to open .. the Application System Preferences can't be opened. -600..
I updated from snowleopard to lion (10.7.3) and corresponding latest itunes version. My itunes library is on a Qnap Nas TSs 109-II. It has got latest available firmware 3.3.2 Build 0918T. I mount the NAS volumes with the following script:
on run mount volume "smb://user:passwort@192.xxx.xxx.xx/Media" mount volume "smb://user:passwort@192.xxx.xxx.xx/Familie" end run
I can access the volumes using e.g. finder fine. Files open up and can be saved. iphoto also works from volumen media. Only itunes crashes a few seconds after being opened "unexpected end". I have searched and tried a lot. No success.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), QNAP NAS TS-109 II, apple tv, iPhon
I have just but the latest Macbook Pro installed with Mac OS X v10.7.4. I am alarmed at the many applications that are not compatible. However, iTunes not being able to play an mp3 is a shocking low. I am getting the error message in the subject line.
I get this error when ever I try and map to any NAS drive on my network. I thought MACS where supposed to be easy to work with? I have tried everything I could think of.
I just download Flip4Mac WMV Pro ($29) from Telestream and my .wmv videos still won't play. The pop-up says "The document “vid01.wmv” could not be opened. A required codec isn't available." What's a codec?
my microsoft excel 2011 is not working with the os x lion. why is it so? whenever i try to to open it it will automatically close.. and a report will popo up and say microsoft excel cannot be opened because of a problem, should i reinstall my excel then?
When I try to open a Word attachment to an email I receive an error message stating that the file cannot be opened as it is in use by "another user" and prompts me to open a copy. I click OK and another message tells me the file is not a valid word file and cannot be opened. I have tried saving the files but they still cannot be opened
I am using Lion 10.7 , I assigned dreamweaver to desktop1 by choose Options > This Desktop when in desktop1. Then relaunch DW and it correctly opened in desktop 1. Now if i open a file using in finder (which is itself assigned to desktop3) on a file that is default to DW then Dreamweaver moves itself to Desktop3.
I thought the point was that we could assign different applications to different spaces and they would stay that way. Are we saying that if a file is opened from finder its default application will be moved and set up of spaces does not apply ?.
Every time I open a new folder, instead of showing the content of that new folder within the same window, another one is opened.I even went to the preferences and the option "Always open folders in new windows" was not selected.Relaunching finder didn't help either, and so did restarting my laptop. Also, the bar that reguarly appears at the bottom of the finder window containing information about disk space and number of files is at the top of the finder window.
