I have a Samsung Sata2 64GB f/w vam05d1q mmcre64g5mpp Solid State Drive and when I try to do a fresh install inst. It can not be found no drive is showing up. Did I mention I am new to apple. So I hope this is not the standard I can expect from my MacBook Pro (model MacBookPro5.4).

Woke up my laptop from sleep with the 400 port connected to a video deck and the 800 port connected to a raid and a simple external. Power was 'off' on the video deck, power was on for the raid and the simple external HD. Running snow leopard, my externals weren't showing up, no matter what I tried, including power cycles, reboots, unplug/plug, etc. Then for some reason I removed the cable in my 400 (connected to the unpowered deck) and with all else being an original configuration, both my of externals showed up in the finder.

This is so odd to me, but am sure i'm not the 1st person to come across such a situation.
I have a 13.3 inch White Macbook from late 2007. I have a Mini-DVI to Svideo and Composite connector and I've bought both an Svideo Cable and a Yellow male to male composite video cable. It seems I've tried almost everything and wasted hours but the most I've been able to get is: sound and a tripled, Greyish, grainy image of the movie on the TV. My tv doesn't have any other connections and with the svideo no picture shows up at all, just the sound. I've tried every display option on my macbook, tv and in my video player but nothing seems to work.

I just got a new 1.6 MBA but it is going back tomorrow. It has screen bleeding showing like mountains on the bottom and top of the screen. In addition, it is HOT (CPU 63-83 C). Way hotter than what I tested at the store (CPU 40-60 C). In addition, it has a tiny flicked (ripped) paint at the back which I am somehow ok with. I just wanted to share this with you and know if any of you facing similar issues? I have never ever seen screen bleeding in MBAs before since the MBA has the "best" screen ever. I hope that I'll get a better replacement.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe backlight still lights up behind the keyboard but only brightly in a V shape in the middle of the keyboard, the rest of it is very dim.
This happened to me a while back and I just got the laptop back the other day. They had put in a new keyboard (along with a new hard drive and optical drive - but those are another story).
Just now, my backlight came on since I turned off the room's main light and turned on a small lamp and lo and behold...the backlight is messed up again! Same as it was before, I know for a fact it was working earlier today.
All I've done is change the ram and use migration assistant to get a couple things over. I'm not sure how I could have damaged the light by taking out the 3 screws for the ram door...I didn't put barely any pressure on them. I'm not sure if either of those two things caused it but I'm shocked.
Now I have to give up my computer again. Nearest apple store is over an hour, it was 3 weeks last time I gave my computer up (gave it to school's IT crew, who forwards it to apple - but I get a loaner this way).
Has anyone installed linux 9.10 because I am having issues with it not showing any wireless networks or anything and trying see how to get it to find my router.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm fairly new to Macs, I just got my Macbook back in March and I haven't had any problems with it until lately. Last week I sent a few very large emails through my mail client which is attached to my gmail account. I'm not sure what happened but while sending them, one in particular, stopped. Now, every time I open mail this email shows up under "On My Mac" under recovered up to 35 times. (Sorry, it's currently 71.) Since it's a huge email it's slowing everything down and making it impossible to use mail. On occasion when I try to delete it my entire mac freezes momentarily. I've tried deleting it in the folder but it always comes up again when I open my mail client and multiplies.

I noticed when I opened the system profiler under ATA it said no hard drive was present or selected or something to that effect. When I connect an external harddrive to my Macbookpro it does not show on Finder, Diskutil (but the hdd disk starts). USB works fine. If I plug in FW when computer is shut down or sleep it works fine. Cant find out why. Tried with different cables and disks.

I am having a PowerPoint problem on Mac: When I connect my Macbook Pro to the projector by a VGA cable and I set the PowerPoint as a full screen it works on Mac but on the projector what's show on the laptop it's shown on the projector but small in the left side and a counter like the quicktime and the time increasing and some other icos that are only in Mac like the close and minimize and other things so why am I facing like that? and how can I solve this issue to show the full screen from the laptop on the projector? I've been having a problem with my WiFi-connection for at least two weaks, and to me it seems as if it started with the latest OS update I installed. When I turn on my computer the wi-fi connection sets up just as usual, with a strong signal and the networks I frequently use. I can run my browser, e-mail programs and downloads just as I'm used to, everything works fine - and then all of a sudden connection is lost while the wi-fi symbol still shows full signal. When I open the menu to see what networks I can connect with, there are no networks shown by name, the signal-symbol sill having all its stripes filled.
It is neither a router or network problem, because the same happens when I'm on campus and my girlfriend has no similar problem with the connection on her MacBook (nor have I on my iPhone).

i have a sony vaio external hard drive, and i formatted it using my PC, and it worked perfectly fine - i can read / write files to the HD.
however, it was shown as a 'read only' HD once i plugged it to my Mac.. i even tried it with my friend's Mac and the same thing showed.
i tried to repeat the formatting and plugging with both my PC and Mac over 10x time and it's only giving me the same result.
does that mean my mac is not compatible with the HD?
I've clicked on the battery icon when not plugged in and I don't see a condition at all. I've also checked settings for the battery in preferences and do not see an option. Am I doing anything wrong?

My Windows XP laptop does automatically show up in finder when its connected to the internet, my desktop windows 7 PC however, does not. I can connect to it manually through cmd + k and the IP. All 3 things, PC, Laptop and Macbook are on the same network, but only with the Laptop it works like that, not with the PC. Is it maybe, because on the Windows 7 machine I need to use my username to connect? Is there no way to make it show up automatically in the Finder sidebar?
View 3 Replies View RelatedUp until recently my PowerMac G5 has performed as it should for a computer its age. About two nights ago it shut itself down and I haven't been able to turn it on since. Power does cycle through the unit because all the fans will either cycle once or twice, or at the very least they will twitch. And now there's a tiny red LED on the motherboard and behind the power button that lights up whenever I try to power on the computer. I'm at a loss for where I need to go from here, though I feel rather certain that my computer has simply passed on. It's an original 2004 1.6 ghz single processor PowerMac G5, serial number unknown, since I can't turn it on.

I have a (newly) mixed network - Mac OS X 10.3 and Win XP Pro. I have two internal hard drives in each machine. After downloading SharePoint I was able to see the second Mac HD from the XP machine. I can't for the life of me find any reference to accessing the D: drive on the XP machine from the Mac box. It seems to me that using "Finder->Go->"connect to server" forces you to log on as a user and then only gives you access to user level and below. In other words you can't get to "My Computer" to access other drives. Links don't appear to work so I can't set a shortcut (tried the "nethood" folder under the user account but they are only links and didn't get me anywhere). I have all sharing turned on. Can access the user folder no problem. Just can't get to upper level resources.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just installed Ubuntu 9.04 onto a small 10GB partition that I quickly made in Disk Utility (resized my HFS+ partition while leaving my Windows 7 one intact). Upon reboot, I hold Option, and it only shows the 2 partitions (OS X & Windows). I was hoping it would show the Ubuntu partition. Since it doesn't, I have to use the Windows 7 bootloader to boot into Ubuntu. So, is there a way to edit my MacBook's bootloader to show all 3 partitions?

it sometimes happens with network folders (hosted at a Windows server, probably 2003) that all folders are shown twice, and one folder in each pair is a useless ghost duplicate: if you save something to the ghost duplicate folder, your file simply disappears.
