My MacBook Pro warned me that it had no disk space left. I deleted some files and then restarted the computer. Now it will not turn back on completely. Will only show a Blue Screen...

I tried yesterday to make a Boot Camp partition on my MacBook Pro 17"s 500GB hard drive, but something seems to have gone wrong while installing Windows 7. And the new partition was inaccessible from Disk Utility, so I deleted it by booting from the Windows 7 disk. But now the unallocated space from the deleted partition isn't showing up in disk utility, and I have now idea how to remerge it with my main Snow Leopard partition.

Mac OS X 10.4 Surfing, then all of a sudden got a message saying "you need to restart your computer"
so i restart and now i have a blue screen, with nothing on it, i'd let it sit for about 15mins then it goes to a black screen that has my computer name and asks for login and password info.
Everytime I turn it on I get a black box asking to shut down or restart the mac. I have managed to get it to turn on to powersave and managed to update the software. Thought it might help but just made it worse - it won't boot up at all now past an apple symbol with a little swirly thingy underneath (I apologise now for my lack of intelligence when it comes to computers/knowledge/names of things!) The first time I managed to boot the computer up it came up with the grey screen and a little folder flashing between a face and a question mark which I assume meant it couldn't find anything but that appears to have gone away now. I bought this computer new from Apple about 2 - 3 years ago and no disks were provided with it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've used Boot Camp to create a 32GB partition and install Windows XP (SP2 home edition) on my alu iMac (2.66 Ghz, 4GB RAM).
I used the FAT format to allow transfer of files between the Mac partition and the Windows one.
After booting Windows, I put in my original Leopard install DVD as directed, and the Boot Camp installer automatically came up.
macbook pro blue screen with spinning disk, won't start up. my macbook was really sluggish so i ran a hardware test. it said NO PROBLEMS. i did restart. my current login and password were REJECTED. then the macbook went into blue screen and it just sits there and flashes to gray and back to blue and the white lines that make up the circle icon just spin and spin.

Just installed lion and still the same problem when it starts blue dots, when startup in safe mode loads of blue lines and dots on the screen.

I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard and I wanted to restore my computer so I found directions that said I should put the snow leopard disk back in the computer and restart it. Well, I did that and now all I have is a blue screen. What do I do!?!? I've tried manually turning it on/off and it will turn off, but still goes back to blue screen with nothing on it.

whenever I run Time Machine on my PowerBook G4 (1.5 Ghz / 1Gb RAM / OSX 10.5.8) it will eat up GB's of hard disk space while 'preparing the backup'. After that it finishes the backup, but I don't get the space back. I'm talking about the internal HD, not the external target disk of course. Does Time Machine use the space to generate some temporary files? Any ideas how I can get my disk space back
while i am using my macbook the screen will suddenly go blue and flash between different blue colors like it is trying to work. sometimes it comes back on but most of the time it stays like that. I have to force shut down with the button and then restart...about half the time it is still flashing blue after the restart and if it does work, it goes blue eventually.
dont know if its a problem with the screen or what because the computer continues to work...if there is a movie on, you can here it in the background and the screen just flashes.
I installed ubuntu 7.04 on my mac OS X tiger. But when I restart my computer and hold down the option key. Ubuntu doesn't show up.

The problem is, it left the disk at "Zero KB" of free space, effectively making my computer inoperable. I was in the process of studying for a huge exam tomorrow, and am currently flipping out.

I really don't want to have to reinstall the OS and import the old files, but my real fear is that I will have to do a fresh install of the OS.

Mac OSX v10.4 tiger disk full and now won't start up. It showed lines of adaptec warning: SCSI reset detected and keep coming up non stop. After force quite and now Mac OSX shows blue screen w/spin only; I tried to start with CD but disk drive won't open. How?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn fact I'm getting a grey screen when I just try to restart. Have run Disk Utility (which always finds Permissions errors - even though it appears to make repairs. Also, after erasing my hard disk and recovering my user data from Time Capsule). When I restart I don't get beyond a grey screen (with moving cursor). I can't install the update as obviously I need to restart in order to start the install process.

On view options I checked show item info, and I actually like this look a little better. But the info is incorrect, I have a 500 Gb HD partitioned to 430 for OS X and 70 for Win7. And that is exactly what it shows on the desktop, not the correct amount of free space, but the maximum capacity of the drive. I read one post that said to simply drag something into the drive, and it would re-register with the correct amount of space, tried it and needless to say it didn't work. So does anyone know how to make this work? I posted a screen to show you what I mean, but the image is so small I don't know if you will be able to see what I am talking about
View 6 Replies View RelatedI appear to have used up a huge proportion of my 1TB storage space! Usual stuff like movies, photos, word files appears to have used up just over 100GB but then i have 'other' shown as about 800GB! Is there anyway I can find out what 'other' actually represents?

When I connect an external harddrive to my Macbookpro it does not show on Finder, Diskutil (but the hdd disk starts). USB works fine. If I plug in FW when computer is shut down or sleep it works fine. Cant find out why. Tried with different cables and disks.

I just got a new 1.6 MBA but it is going back tomorrow. It has screen bleeding showing like mountains on the bottom and top of the screen. In addition, it is HOT (CPU 63-83 C). Way hotter than what I tested at the store (CPU 40-60 C). In addition, it has a tiny flicked (ripped) paint at the back which I am somehow ok with. I just wanted to share this with you and know if any of you facing similar issues? I have never ever seen screen bleeding in MBAs before since the MBA has the "best" screen ever. I hope that I'll get a better replacement.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have been running out of hard drive space and have deleted a whole bunch of files... even deleted all the languages i didn't need from all my applications... about a week ago i freed up around 2GB.... but without saving and downloading anything my free space is now 70MB!! All I have been doing is watching streamed videos and I notice this reduces the drive space as I'm watching it!! Even opening firefox and some websites drops my memory by 0.1MB. I can't find anywhere where temporary files might be so i can delete them.
I never used to have this problem but I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I now use wireless internet through a phone provider and a USB modem rather than my previous WiFi via cable broadband.
Can anybody shed some light on what is stealing my memory when browsing?

Can anyone explain to me why, on my iMac's 500GB hard drive, the displayed size of the only 4 items on it is 207GB, that the info box on the HD itself says 393GB used? Unless I failed grade 1 math, 500GB - 207GB = 293GB, right? So where's the missing ~100GB? That's a lot of space I know I haven't filled up.Â

I have a problem with my MacBook screen. Everytime I try to turn on the MacBook, the blue screen appears for a second and then everything gets dark (but I can see that the computer turned on normally, it's just the screen that gets almost black, without light). I held down shift, it gets HOT HOT and makes noises. (for safety mode) followed by a blank grey screen and blue screen. Then tried the other way (I think it's command alt delete? I don't remember) and it turned from grey (no apple symbol) to blue blank. Then third time, grey followed by blue with vertical lines, not blocky clear lines that you can see if you are close to it.Â
