MacBook Pro :: Multi Coloured Lines Going Down The Screen On Start Up?

Whenever I try to start up my mac book pro I get coloured lines going down the screen. It then just shows me a large image of the power button with the message "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the restart button" I then do this and the same happens again and I go no further.

MacBook Pro :: Having Coloured Vertical Lines?
I've been having this problem for the last few weeks intermittently, and occurs whenever I bring my Macbook Pro (17 5,2 10.6.4) awake from sleep, or sometimes just when I switch it on.

It is a bit difficult to describe, so here is a picture:

I have to hard-reset the laptop to fix this each time...

Do I need to send it away for repairs or is this something that I could fix myself?

MacBook Pro :: Page Has Loaded The Cursor Turns To A Multi-coloured Ball?
I recently made the switch to Mac and I'm very pleased so far with my purchase. The little problem I have is lately while surfing the net, sometimes after the page has loaded the cursor turns to a multi-coloured ball and I can't do anything until it's stopped. Is this the norm? as I'm sure it never happened in the first few weeks of ownership.

Logic Studio / Pro :: The Swirling Multi Coloured Apple Icon That Shows The System Is Busy?
I have upgraded to logic 9 and have noticed all is not what is used to be in terms of performance. The swirling multi coloured apple icon that shows the system is busy (which I had never ever seen on version 8) seems to make an appearance every 10 mins or so. Usually when loading loops...opening the iMac...loading projects..etc.I notice that at these times, my Lacie drive starts flashing too. Is it possible that the upgrade has located some files on the external drive?

I would also say that 1 in 5 times, the iMac will not boot correctly and needs a second reboot. Can anybody tell me if I need to upgrade drivers or any other updates I should get in order to get back to the smooth incredibly reliable performance I had with V8?

MacBook Pro :: Will Not Start After Shutdown - Purple Vertical Lines Flickering On Screen
I was sitting with my MacBook Pro, when out of no where, purple vertical lines began flickering on the screen. I tried getting them to stop, then eventually just shut down my laptop. When I went to power it up again, it first popped up with the white apple screen and chime, then a gray screen dropped down with the message "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button.".

I tried the Power button option first, but the computer does not come back on.When I press the Power button again, it does the same thing all over again. I do not know where the "Restart button" is, so I haven tried that. I have also tried pulling the battery and restarting, restarting in safe mode by holding the shift key at start up, and trying control-r and control-s functions. None of which worked.

OS X :: Stuck With Vertical Lines Across Screen At Start Up On MacBook
This is my first time having some serious problems with my first MacBook, and I was hoping someone out there could help me out. This macbook was bought on June 2006 (a white MB) with I believe the 10.4.6 OSX on. I gave it to my dad which is across the world and he called desperate a few days ago saying that the system won't boot up. When the power button is pushed on and the system starts, rings the Apple bell and soon after colorful vertical lines show up across the screen and the system freezes. Here's what I found out from my research on the topic, for some macs of that generation, when the system updates from 10.4.6 to 10.4.7 some video card issue causes this glitch to happen. The solution: zap the PRAM (by holding control + command + p + r when booting the computer.) My dad has tried this approach many times and it doesn't solve it. We also tried booting it with the installation disc and that didn't work. We also tried the safe mode boot and that also didnt work.

Mac Pro :: Multi Color Single Pixel Lines - System Crashing
I keep seeing these weird multi-color single pixel lines across my windows and my system is crashing alot (rather it becomes completely frozen and non-responsive). I don't know if this is a video card problem, or memory issue, or just something in the system OS. It does seem that it happens quite often while running Handbrake. I'm still getting these lines with a fresh OS install, so I'm thinking my original video card is on the way out. Will replacing it with actually improve performance?

Have had this macbook for just over a week, purchased off original owner who bought in Feb this year with Applecare warranty. Upgraded ram immediately to a G.Skill 4Gb kit. 4 days ago, computer randomly froze with horizontal coloured bar. Called Apple next day, the guy there told me that sometimes this happens, and that I should only be worried if this occurs ago. 4 days later, we are at this present scenario: In the last hour or so, has crashed 3 times. Programs running in common were iTunes and Safari.

PowerPC :: PowerBook Won't Start - White Screen With Lines Across The Middle?
I put my PowerBook to sleep and left home with it about an hour ago. I just opened it and it woke up but the screen was black. I turned it off and back on. The white screen with the apple and progress wheel came on for a normal period of time, but then the screen went all white and there were several uneven horizontal lines across the middle and froze there. I forced a restart and the same thing happened but this time I got the semi transparent window that says need to restart. I did that and I got the same screen without the message.

Intel Mac :: 27" Displaying Random Coloured Squares On The Screen?
How many Mac users have suffered from the problem of small coloured squares appearing at random on the iMac desktop? They can be wiped by dragging a window over them but they will eventually reappear. I have discovered at least three other threads where this issue has been discussed but our local Apple store is claiming that Apple haven't declared it as a legacy fault. It would be interesting to hear how others have been treated when presenting Apple with this fault. At first they thought it was the GPU but they now think that it is either the logic board OR the logic board AND the GPU together!! Being charged between £480 and £650 to repair a machine that is less than 18 months old is a bit much from a company that continually boasts about the quality of its products.

MacBook Pro :: Lines On Screen - Background Wavy
I have a Macbook Pro given to me for work. The monitor has these weird lines in the background as if I had a bunch of spotlights going up from the bottom of the monitor. It makes some areas lighter and darker almost as if the background was wavy. I know this is an odd question, but I'm normally a PC user and I have never seen a monitor do this before - I assume it needs to be serviced. Can anyone verify that this is a problem or is it the way the monitor just is.

MacBook Pro :: Occasionally Getting Three Horizontal Lines On Screen
I'm new to mac in general. I totally love it, and will never go back to a 'PC' again, ever! On my new MBP (late08) I am occasionally getting three horizontal lines, at the same place on my screen. It happens like once a day, or once every other day or so. The lines look EXACTLY like the three horizontal lines at the bottom right of all windows (where you click and drag to resize a window), but they just sit there on the screen, above everything, and always at exactly the same place. I took a screenshot and would love to share it with you all, unless someone knows right off the bat what this problem could be? Other than this minor issue, I've had no problems. Should I take it into a store?

MacBook Pro :: Vertical Lines On LCD Screen?
For the past few days, my screen has been going in and out of being entirely covered by 1px white lines that occasionally flicker blue or something. Like, when I'm typing (as I am now) if the window is positioned one pixel off, the blinking cursor won't appear (and on my black screensaver, it looks more like it's white/light grey because literally every other 1px line is white). Well, this morning it got weird again, but it hasn't gone back to normal!

I have a Mid-2007 Santa Rosa Macbook Pro, 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo- LED Screen, backlight works fine and if I turn it completely down ('off') the problem persists. I have Boot Camp installed, and the problem persists when booting into Windows as well.

I looked around and tried a few fixes to no avail (slept the screen, reset the PRAM, messed with the resolution a bit).

I took a screenshot and everything shows up normal. I had to finish a paper I was working on, and the screen was getting unbearable, so I tried plugging it into a mate's external lcd and the image came up completely fine, no vertical lines!

So, what could this be, and what could I do to fix it? Could this be the infamous problem with the Nvidia 8600GT M graphics card- so would I have to get the logic board repaired!? (UGH I hope not) Could it just be a connection issue? I did install a new hard drive, a new stick of memory, and Leopard, but that was months ago! Anything else I might be missing? and I hope this problem isn't too serious!

P.S.-on a side-note, has anybody done the upgrade to the latest firmware for the fans (SMC something)? Should I give that a try (or should I do it anyway, regardless of whether it could help)? When it was released, I heard of some bad experiences, so I stayed away.

MacBook Pro :: Colorful Stripes/lines On Screen?
So at some point before, i noticed this line of colors on the left side of my mac, althrough its not bad it became bigger; still i ignored it anyway. Then just a while ago i saw another small colorful line on the right, its way smaller than the other line which has the length of the entire screen. But i want to get rid of the lines already, its only really visible when i have a white screen, but it is still noticable without a white screen. i don't know if its just a bug on my mac, or a hardware fail. The lines when i look at it is like seeing a hypnotic ray when i move...

MacBook Pro :: 13" 2011: Lines On Screen?
I bought my Macbook Pro 13" in 2011 March when the line was refreshed. About 6 months later there were vertical lines running across the screen, and it hangs. Once I've rebooted by pressing the start button it all goes back to normal. I thought it was some random bug so I didn't check it out. A month later it happened again, and again and again, although it was so random that I couldn't pinpoint when it would happen. I brought it to Applecenter. They changed the logic board. I brought it back and reinstalled new applications – it happened again, this time with vertical lines and 3 beeping noises. (I've got videos and pictures to prove it -- even took videos showing the serial number because some of them were skeptical if it was the same laptop!) I brought it to Applecenter again. They reformatted the hard drive, and I took it back. The problem remanifested itself after a few days.I brought it back to Applecenter AGAIN. They did hardware testing, etc and couldn't find anything wrong with it. The engineers told the people at Apple to do a zero-out (because it might not be done right the first time) I took it back. They said it might be a software issue. So I was careful to have clean installs of everything. And then it happened again. And again. They did not want to replace my laptop and want to further troubleshoot although it's been 3 times at this point that I have returned back and forth to the Applecenter.Tech people told me to do a partition and watch out if it happens on the clean install. I think it's not a software issue at this point, but I am very frustrated. I can't just keep waiting for the clean install to mess up – I need to work and all my applications are on the other partition!

MacBook Pro :: Diagonal Lines Appearing On Screen Display
I can't seem to find any pattern to this happening but every so often one of the windows in the foreground after being moved or resized will appear with diagonal black and white stripes. The desktop remains fine, it is just the window in the foreground. Usually moving the window again or resizing will temporarily fix the problem. But once it starts it usually affects multiple applications. Safari seems fine, but some other programs I can't even scroll without it happening. A reboot or even logging in/out seems to fix it.

Another thing I noticed is that when this is happening is that if I take a screenshot the image shows up as the entire screenshot. Until I reboot or log out/in, I can't take any screenshots of anything but this image. Here is the screenshot: [URL]. I don't know if this happens on both video cards, since I usually only run the 9400 and the issue is not very frequent. I'm thinking this might be a hardware issue with the video card, but wanted to see if anyone else had seen this.

MacBook Pro :: Black Screen Or Multicolored Horizontal Lines All Over
A few days ago my Mac Book Pro screen freaked out. Specifically, it had multicolored horizontal lines all over, but underneath I could see a dark grey dialogue box telling my to restart the computer. Now, about two thirds of the time, when I try to start up the screen stays black and it does not make any startup noises but the power light comes on steady. One time this was accompanied by a beeping tone that beeped in sets of three. The other one third of the time it starts up fine. Once it shut itself down after the horizontal lines appeared again. Once it has frozen while on the screensaver and I had to manually shut it down. My computer is still under warrantee but I live over an hour and a half from the nearest apple store.

MacBook Pro :: Screen Randomly Faded To Lines Of Color
Not sure if this has been posted or is a wide known problem, but I spent an hour on google trying to figure this out. Two times in a week now my MacBook screen has randomly faded to lines of color. It happens for a few seconds and then goes away. Not sure what is happening at all here. Not sure if this is related but in case it is. About two months ago I let my MacBook run out of power while I went to the gym. When I came back and plugged it in and turned it on it couldn't remember anything (WEP, the date or time). I know this is related to the PRAM settings but at the time I just restarted once or twice until my MacBook knew what was going on.

This happens seemingly out of the blue, probably once every few hours of normal use, and the only way I've been able to get it to go away is to close the laptop, then open it again - Sometimes it only takes a few goes for this fix to work, sometimes a a lot.

My almost 3 year old MBP shows a full screen of artifacts like horizontal lines with blue and pink boxes. It did it while simply browsing the web. It had a message in the center of the screen that said to push the power button to power off in several languages.

I powered off the computer. Tried to restart it and on the start up screen the Apple appears in the center of the screen with the same pink and blue boxes in it and the spinning symbol below is stuck and the computer will not start up.

Any ideas on what my problem is? I have about 2 months of Apple Care left.
