I shoved a mini-cd into my MacBook pro's SuperDrive and, when nothing happened, used another dick to push it in further. It doesn't show on the desk top and I'm at a loss as to how to retrieve it. ( yes, I know this was a numb move.)

I am trying to upgrade my Dad's mac mini to Snow Leopard and have encountered a problem. When I insert the Leopard disk I cannot get it to read the disk, the box comes up as if I have inserted a blank DVD. I have also tried inserting ilfe09 disk and have the same problem. The drive does appear to be making an odd bleaping. I have tried resetting the PRAM and cannot get it to bleap?

When I try to inserrt a disk you can feel the mechanism stuck in the ejected position. suspect I will have to have it serviced and I do have apple care.

CD stuck in superdrive have tried all the Troubleshooting tips available. my super drive is greyed out in the disk utility so the only one i couldn't try was ejecting from there.

i've tried every method mentioned but I can't still eject a stucked cd on my MBP mid 2010. The CD seems to be stucked halfway in, so its not readed by the drive, but it can't also be ejected.

I've tried all the usual tricks that come up on google, holding eject/trackpad on start up, eject in commands/itunes and the thin piece of card under/over the disc but nothing has worked.
When holding eject it sounds like the disc hits something as it tries to eject but due to the felt I can't see inside to see what it is?
a couple days ago my superdrive literally sucked the paper label off a homemade mix CD.
The CD itself came out without any problem but the label is still stuck in my superdrive.
Over active 3 year old put two discs into our 13" Mid 2009 MacBook. How to remove them. Hitting the eject key does nothing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had to drop my iMac G5 in this morning to the apple store to get a stuck DVD out of the superdrive!!. My question is, how often to discs get stuck in the drive??? Is this a common problem??? Is there a risk of the disc getting stuck every time you put one in???? Why wouldn't apple put a pinhole to manually eject the disc or some other way of manually getting the disc out!???
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a 17" Power Book G4 which is three months old. It is my first Mac after 20 years with a PC and it is not a happy Mac. I am not a happy Mac owner It now has a CD jammed in the superdrive. It will neither eject or be recognised. All the threads say hold down the mouse button, this will force eject the disc. All this does is give me a blue screen. No effect on the disk. While I sit here it is trying to eject the disc on its own every 30 seconds or so. It is a home made disc with a paper label which works in my 2 PCs and windows laptop. How do I get it out, preferably without the use of a hammer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so last night I was trying to burn a file with Disk Utility, as soon as I put the DVD in I heard it was making a little noise (most likely because there was dirt on it - I wasn't thinking properly). When it started to burn, I could hear it make noise....I didn't want to risk not having a smooth burn so I cancelled it, then tried to eject it......to no prevail.
I've tried everything in the book.......from repeatedly pressing the eject button on the keyboard, to restarting while holding down the mouse button, to tilting it on its side and let gravity do its job, to lightly smacking the back part of it........nothing is working
When I do try and eject it, I've noticed it makes 2 different sounds....1st one is, imagine the sounds it makes when you put a CD in....and also taking it out, those 2 sounds very close to each other. 2nd one is sort of like the CD rubbing against something, like a bandsaw but on a low level. It wants to work but something is getting it caught.....
The Apple party line seems to be that the Mac Book Air Superdrive only works with the Mac Book Air and the new Mac Mini Server. Is this because of hardware, firmware, software or marketing? Is there an actual hardware difference regarding the power rating of the USB interfaces on the server version of the Mini Server compared with the standard Minis? Is there something special in the boot ROM of the Mini Server that allows it to use this drive? The boot ROM version on my server is MM31.00AD.B00, is this the same on the other Mini models? I'm guessing I'd still be able to continue using the drive if I loaded the Mini Server with Snow Leopard Client.

View 14 Replies View RelatedWell first off let me say I was pretty intoxicated and not thinking straight. I took out my sd card out of my camera, and while looking dead on at my screen i reached over to the side and pushed my sd card all the way though.
After realizing what I did i proceded to panic, yell, curse, and punch myself in the forhead. I called my buddy who works at an Apple retail store and told me that if I brought it in and they had to open it up I would be charged for the part and labor (around$200+).
I again proceded to cuss and punch myself till he suggested I hold the 27'' beheameth sideways and jump up and down. Once I heard it drop i knew I had a solid chance of geting it out. Since there's the dust flaps in the superdrive slot it wouldn't just come out by shaking. I literally had to hold it sideways on my knee and take a hairclip in order to get it out.
I've got a MacBook that is a couple of years old now. I'm trying to burn about a dozen copies of some audio from a conference I ran. I've tried burning directly from iTunes and by using Toast. In both cases it's hit and miss. Sometimes I'll get one or two copies burned, and then an error message will come up saying that the disk can't be burned. The error messages are different with both programs, but in either case, I'm stuck. The MacBook is no longer under warranty, so I'd like to avoid having to take it in to be repaired. Could it be something as simple as needing to be cleaned?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have never had any problems with this SuperDrive, until I installed Toast last week. I went to burn a disk, and it failed the burn; then after that any kind of disk I inserted into the drive would be ejected.
The drive doesn't even try to read it, nor does it try to spin up whatsoever... I put the disk in, it makes an 'accepting' noise, then less than two seconds later, it rejects it. I'm running 10.6.4, with HL-DT-ST DVDRW GSA-S10N running AP12 firmware.
Like I said before, the disk drive never had trouble reading anything, but all of a sudden decided to reject every one under the sun.
Restarting in Windows doesn't effect it, nor does inserting a disk before the computer boots. Everything appears normal in diagnostics, but the drive is not even trying to read it.
the superdrive in my mini has been malfunctioning. Won't read a DVD or CD on the first try, and when it finally reads it, it's after a long time of spinning.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a mac pro 2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon box. Tonight I replace my 8 g memory sticks with 16g memory sticks. After rebooting my super drive will no longer mount any disk that is put in the tray. I close the tray then after several seconds the try pops back open. I have tried cleaning the drive with a cleaning disk, it does not work. No sound comes from the drive, in other words I don't hear it attempt to spin up. The super drive shows up in disk utility and under Disc Burning in system information.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a 1.5GHz G4 Mini with Combo Drive. Ordered a Superdrive via eBay and fitted it (2 minute job - done it many times previously). Panasonic Model UJ-846-B march 2008. On this occasion, the drive fails to work. I can insert a disc and eject it (using the button on the front of the drive) but the drive isn't "seen" by the Mini. [URL] I received a second drive from the seller and it has the same problem. I assume that it doesn't have the correct "driver" firmware installed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MBP has been acting up lately. It seems that whenever I put a DVD into my drive, it sounds like the computer is reading it or attempting to and then spits it back out. When I put the dvd back in a second time, it reads it just fine and mounts it on desktop without any problems. Doesnt seem to matter what kind of dvd it is; game, movie, etc. The SuperDrive only reads it when I put the disk in the second time. I'm running 10.5.6.

When I try to eject it, it makes a bunch of noises like it is going to eject but then doesn't, and then I hear it spin and try and load, then it repeats by trying to eject it again, etc. If I reboot the computer, it shows the disk on the desktop and I can open it fine. Problems don't start till I try and eject it.

After about three Cd uploads it acts up. It will start to get track names then stops. If I re-start the Mini it will work again for another three Cd's or so.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just brought back an external superdrive to my local Apple Store because it wouldn't physically swallow any disc. So I got a new one and back home ... same problem. I plugged it to my mac mini, my MacBook Pro, my 1st portable PC, my tower pc ... nothing. I made sure the second time that I didn't plug it to the same mac first (in case I had a faulty USB port which could destroy the superdrive). Plus it ejects CDs and DVDs fine if I insert one 3/4 into it. So the mechanism is working, but no matter what I do, it won't swallow any disc.
