I'm an American student looking to buy a MacBook Pro with a Hebrew keyboard in the United States. I've seen these in Israel, but the notebooks are much more expensive there. Does anyone know if these notebooks are available in the US, either online or in-store? I've already checked eBay and Google for replacement Hebrew keyboards (no luck) and I'd like to avoid using stickers or skins - the backlit Hebrew/English keys are much nicer.
My Apple Mail account is connected with an Exchange 2003 server. I don't have Hebrew enabled on my macbook. Just last week, i received an email from the server saying my mailbox is full, but it all came in Hebrew. I live in Israel. How did it set the language to Hebrew when, in fact, Hebrew isn't enabled on my laptop.
I used to just closed my Mac instead of pressing the shutdown button; I tried this time but I cannot shut it down anymore, also my keyboard cannot control the volume or turn on the keyboard-light. Also I remember there is like a back-up shortcut (or something like that don't know what is it exactly named) consisting of three keyboard button.
So my friend was using his MacBook and went to do something else. He came back and the screen was black, he hit space and nothing, tried the trackpad and nothing. He restarted by holding the Power button, and it go to the log-in screen, but he can't type anything, or use the trackpad. He has tired restarting several times and no luck. He also tried an external Keyboard/Mouse and that didn't work.
He did plug in a Flash drive and the light turned on, so the USB ports are at least getting power, but nothing is working.
I'm thinking of buying a MacBook but I have one reservation. I'm moving from a Powerbook 12"...
What's the consensus on the MacBook keyboard in terms of ease & comfort of use? I write for a living so a good keyboard is pretty essential. I've always been mostly satisfied with my powerbook keyboard, it's pretty comfortable although I occasionally mash a neighbouring button with my big clumsy fingers. The MacBook keyboard looks a little... weird. How is it?

Anyone have any idea? I'm thinking of getting a refurb MBP here in Japan, but it comes with Japanese keyboard that I'm really not used to. Apple have MBPs with English keyboard only for new units, not refurbished.
So I'm thinking of buying the English keyboard from parts site on the net and replacing it myself. However, I'd like to know if there's any driver change or anything needed on Mac OS X?
In the System Preferences, I don't see any place I can set what type of physical keyboard layout I'm using. Please advise if you've any experience.
I have a 2.16GHz MacBook and some of the keys stopped working and I did a computer formate and that didn't fix the problem. I was wondering if a version 2 keyboard would work on my version 1 MacBook. (the only difference is the Fkeys have the newer lineup) did anyone try this before?
I recently went out and got myself the 2Ghz macbook w/o the backlit keyboard. I suddenly realized how often i had used the backlit keyboard on my macbook pro 17" that i sold. I got the computer on April 8th and am still under the 14 day return period and was wondering if you guys thought that i could go to apple and return this model for the 2.4ghz model (extra $300)... and if it was worth it....
was wondering, where the keyboard light sensor was. It is strange because although my light sensor seems to be working properly, the angle of the screen can cause the sensor to be activated sometimes in indirect lightening situations. I just was wondering where the sensor was.
I know that physically its going to cost and its going to be a tough mod job. but can I put the macbook in english and would I be able to make the keyboard use the english keyboard? like it will automatically change the keys around?
i have been looking around for a kayboard skin/protector from the dust and other things but i just thought isn't the one with florescnece letters like with some watches numbers or other things? and the best of all they will be charged by the LED so? have you guys seeing any around? or one good skin cover thank
I just got my old macbook replaced by the new unibody macbook. I had a keyboard skin on my old one to protect the keyboard and it was the full version to cover the palm area as well from dirt and wear. Do you guys think its necessary to get a skin that covers the palm area on the unibody or will a skin that just covers the key suffice? Is the palm area on the unibody easily scratched or worn in color? Any ideas on where to find the best deals on such products?
I was wondering if it possible to use a PC keyboard (logitech Ultrax) on a macbook. How will it work with the lack of a command key, or is this just switched to the windows button?
I have a macbook (black) and a PS3. I am wondering if there is any way of using the macbook's keyboard as a bluetooth keyboard for the PS3. I have tried but I guess the macbook doesn't advertise itself as a bluetooth keyboard.. is there some way or application that could do this?

I've got myself a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro 15" and I'm curious about the keyboard lighting. It appears that the keyboard should light up when the lighting conditions require it (eg it gets dark) but it doesn't appear to be that way.. and if I turn it on manually, the keyboard stays lit up even in direct sunlight.
I have a macbook air which I bought on ebay a few months ago - it was a few months old when I bought it. I am absolutely delighted with it in general (I was a PC user until then...) but a few days ago the number eight key stopped working. The rest of the keyboard still works fine. As far as I know nothing has been spilt on the keyboard but I suppose it's not out of the question that some crumbs or something have got in...
Anyway, I have an appointment at the Apple store in a few days, but I'd be really grateful for some informed opinion about what to expect.
For example, is this likely to require replacement of the keyboard? If so, am I right in thinking that with the Air that would involve replacing the whole upper body (if that's the right description) as keyboard, trackpad etc all seem to be one unit.
And if so, is that the kind of job that involves the machine being sent away - or are they likely to be able to fix it in store?
I went yesterday evening to the Apple store in Georgetown as I happened to be near by and checked out the new Airs. The keyboard letters look reflective bu the keyboard also looked somehow cheaper (which I guess it is truly). Tough to test the usability in the dark in the store, I tried to hover over it with my jacket (must have looked pretty stupid) but it is not a real live test. I've owned my 15 inch Macbook Pro for a little over a month now, and I've noticed that generally the keyboard requires a bit more of a tactile pres than others that I've used, but my S key is especially annoying. I can depress it all the way lightly (<-- notice the lack of second s in depress) and have it not register. I have to press a fair bit harder. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who's had problems with the keyboard. I'm just wondering if there are any obvious fixes before I end up taking it in to a store. I've tried pressing down really hard and moving the key around a bit and canned air, but I don't think anything's under the key, it seems like just a mechanical issue.
I have parallels and sometimes boot into windows. I was wondering if there was any way to f-lock on a MacBook keyboard. If I need to change a setting through the control panel or take this to another panel then let me know.
I just got my new MacBook Pro today. One problem I had with my old black MacBook is that the keys got really dirty. dust fell between the cracks, but, more annoying, from typing, the finish wore off and got shiny/greasy. Is there anything I can do to mitigate this problem, particularly the problem of ruining the nice finish on the keys with skin oil?
i'm a new mac user, just bought it this boxing day, new aluminum Macbook that is supposed to illuminate the key board in the dark but i'm not able to do that, didn't find anything under keyboard preference or tried using F8 button in dark too.
my local Apple store replaced the horrendous chipping keyboard on my original Apple refurbed 1.83 GHz Core Duo Whitebook. It feels a lot better now but I can't help but wonder how long it'll be before this new keyboard starts chipping away too, especially considering the well documented issues with the plastic Macbooks.Just as a point of information, my Whitebook is maxed out at 2GB RAM with the stock 60GB HDD and combo drive. My wife and I use this laptop pretty much daily for HOME use: typically for surfing, email, iWork stuff and Parallels/XP stuff. Outside of that, we don't do anything really CPU intensive on it - although the fans will kick in if I have too many Safari windows open, watching a video or doing something in Parallels. I do have Logic, Garageband '09 and Ableton Live installed and intended to do music on it, but I really never use them on the Macbook because the 13" screen seems a bit too small to effectively do anything with them IMO.
I have a rev A MBA and I have noticed that the keys on my keyboard are getting shiny from normal use and wear but I was wondering if whether Apple or a third party company had many cleaning solutions that would clean the keyboard?
Like whenever I wipe down my keyboard on my MacBook. I always think how convinient that would be to have a keyboard lock because I don't feel like shutting down to do a wipe down.
I just bought the new 13 inch Macbook Pro. However, at the time the keyboard worked, until I used Migration Assistant and transferred all my data from my old 13 inch plastic Macbook over the network. Now, my mouse works on my macbook, but not my keyboard, so I need to plug an external keyboard to make it work. It also freezes my whole mac if I try typing something into the URL bar on Safari using the internal keyboard.
