My wife and I each have iPods and each have our own computers with our own iTunes libraries. We have a wireless router and want to play music from our computers to a hifi system. If I purchase an Airport Express, is it possible that my wife and I can both play music from our separate computers to the one Airport Express Base Station (obviously not at the same time)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to Mac so bear with me. I am running Microsoft Office for Mac 2004. I run a Nascar league and have 36 separate spread sheets for each race. They are all stored in a folder in my documents, just like when I had a PC. The problem is that when I try to open the sheet from documents folder by double clicking it the header or toolbar for excel opens but not the spread sheet. The only way I can get the spread sheet to open is by clicking on the open folder symbol on the toolbar and then a pop up window appears that looks like finder, and then I have to choose the file again.
Why can't you just open the file from documents folder.
Also when I attach the spreadsheet to an email, then double click the attachment on the email, the spreadsheet won't open either. I have asked the guys in my one to one class and none of them seem to know what the problem is. One teacher suggested to re-install Office,
Has anyone else experienced this problem with Excel 2008 after installing SP1? Attempting to open any existing spreadsheet fails, with Excel just opening a blank sheet instead. Microsoft were "aware of a problem" with SP1 which they claimed to have fixed with update 12.1.1, but as per usual and what we should perhaps expect with Microsoft, the "fix" makes no difference whatsoever, and I still can't open any of my existing spreadsheets! Their "workaround" also has no effect. I am running an Intel Mac with OS X 10.5.4 and Office 2008 12.1.1
View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased my MacPro last November. I loaded NUMBERS on my macnine as well as PAGES, and KEYNOTE. I was determined to learn these programs and not rely on using MS OFFICE on my Mac. The rest of my office is still using PC/s and therefore when I am sent a document, it is with MS OFFICE. Up until the first of March, I was able to access all documents sent to me, but sometime in March, EXCEL files sent to me gets an error message:Â
This document was created with an unsupported version of Excel. Only documents created with Excel ’97 or later can be opened.Â
It seems to associate to the upgrade that came out for LION during that month. I have tried everything. My office has tried sending in every format without success. WHAT CAUSED THE CHANGE?

I am searching for a plugin, software or a solution for a situation I have with an Excel/Word Mail Merge.
It's a law firm we specialize in DUI/DWI and Reckless Driving defense. We subscribe to a data collection service that pulls data from various court systems around the state. We are then given this data by jurisdiction. The Excel files we receive come with 2 workbooks in one file for Traffic and Criminal arrests data with name, address, reason for arrest, etc, etc.
What I have been doing is opening each Excel file and copying and pasting into a new worksheet only grabbing the DUI and Reckless driving arrests because tis is all I am needing from the various files. I then save the new workbook and do a mail merge with Word from this newly created workbook.
Now my question is there such a plugin or software that will combine all the Excel files I receive from the Data collection house and then be able to filter out only the DUI and Reckless Driving arrests to a single Excel Workbook?
In microsoft office 2007 for windows it was possible to embed an excel table into word. However i cant seem to find that feature in office 2011 for mac.Is it possible?
View 3 Replies View Relateditunes library will sometimes separate songs from a single cd into two separate files with the same cover art and the same cd title. It will then list the artist twice in the library. It will not let me combine the two. How can I put them in the same file? And yes, the artist name is the same on "info".

I want to make the 2 internal hard drives i have appear as one so i can still install and use things that say "must have mac OS installed on this drive to use" or whatever.
i've heard of people using RAID to join them, but i want details on how i could do this.
I have a Lacie ext hard drive with 2 x 250gb HD that were one RAIDed into a single 500gb HD. I ran this update Lacie firmware update: http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers...r.htm?id=10053 And now my HD will only show up as two separate HDs of 250gb instead of a single RAID HD of 500gb.

but i cant find a version for mac.... do anyone know where to download pivot for mac?? (i dont care about the version).
I really want Pivot. But I have a Mac. So I downloaded Darwine for my PowerPc based Mac. It said I needed X11. I searched the internet for free downloads. I got one. I'm now worried that if I install X11, I may accidentally reinstall the whole computer and potentially lose all my files/apps. Will I reinstall my computer and lose files/apps if I install X11?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 27 (end of year 2009) I5.It has 1 TB internal and I want to replace it with a 2 TB internal. I have time machine backups on an external hard drive that has been connected via Firewire. I have another iMac (my son's)Imac 24 Intel Core 2 Duo that has it's own separate Time machine backup to it's own separate firewire connected external drive. Both machines are completely up to date with the latest version of Lion and all other necessary software updates. When the internal hardrive is replaced - I want to use my latest time machine backup to create one profile on the imac and then use my son's latest time machine back up for a second profile. The end goal being to have everything from my current set up ie: apps, documents, itunes, etc existing in one profile and everything in my son's current set up existing in the other profile. We can both be administrators for the time being as well.I should note even though we both have some of the same apps, we both also have other apps that the other does not.
My profile will be using about 900 gigs of total space. My son's profile will be using about 250 gigs of total space. This is temporary until the new iMac is released. Then I will want to transfer my profile to that leaving my son's intact on the iMac 27 I5.I realize that during the temporary period that Time Machine will be making backups of this entire two profile setup, which I am now understanding as I write this will create a new issue for me when I want to transfer only my profile to the new computer as well. But one bridge to cross at a time, I guess.I need to do this because we must bring his current computer to my father - as his iMac G5 is inoperable. We have been doing this round robin hand me down in our family since IMac DV special edition :-)

I have a 2009 MacBook Laptop and run Mac OS X version 10.5.8. I also bought the Microsoft for Mac package (cost about $90) a while back because I was going back to school. So I basically use Microsoft Word as my word processor/document software. I play guitar and whenever I figure the chords out to a new song, I frequently create a new document where I paste the lyrics and then add the chords in the appropriate places. Then I can always pull up that song and play it. So its kinda like sheet music. Also, I'll point out that I'm not talking about tabbing a song,...which really means identifying individual notes that are picked. I always try and get the song on one page so I can play the entire song without having to scroll down half-way through. Even when I eliminate the margins, view the page full screen, etc....frustrated that SO much of the screen is being wasted. The actual words in the document in reality only take up a small portion of the screen...making it tough to read,...especially if I lose my place.
Any guitar players out there (or otherwise) know of any better applications or word processors that would allow me to maximize the amount of lyrics that would fit on the screen? Perhaps the solution lies in a different way of configuring or viewing Microsoft Word? Hopefully the question is clear enough. How to fit the most amount of text onto one page and then have that page take up the entire screen without wasted space. I'm thinking that no matter what suggestions I get, one good tactic would somehow involve creating columns or even putting two page side by side (neither of which I'm sure how to do).
In Numbers '08, is it possible to link cells/columns between sheets; so that in the below spreadsheet selecting an item from Column A in "Hub Dimensions" sheet in the drop down box of the "Spoke Calculator" sheet would fill out the cells in Column D of the "Spoke Calculator" sheet with data from the related cells in the "Hub Dimensions" sheet?

3. General Mac Word/Excel question - how do I get to use "Home" and "End" buttons? When I hit them I simply jump somewhere, but not to the beginning or end of the paragraph. I have a MAC keyboard with the "Home" and "End" buttons along with the "Help", "Delete", "Pg Up" and "Pg Dwn" keys - basically it looks a lot like a PC keyboard...
hat I'm doing is a little crazy, but I'm doing it partly just for the fun of making it work. I'm trying to make my Intel so my PPC user can connect to my user via screen sharing and play an Intel based game online with me. I have the screen sharing working and everything, but apparently the LAN doesn't work because we have the same IP.
So, my question is: Is there a way to make my other user have a different IP than my main user? I'm thinking maybe some mac address emulator may work, but I thought I'd see if anyone here knew an easier way before I got too complicated.
I have the rev. C Air, recently bought. It works fine but I have noticed that when I tilt the screen back almost all of the way that the front left side lifts slightly off the desk. I can see that the front left pad is not touching the desk. Is this an idiosyncrasy of the computer? Do others have the same symptom? Of course once I place my hands on the computer and start typing it's not really a problem, but I can certainly feel it click down to the desk or if I lift my hands off and slightly push down there is a space there. I think it is a weight issue, because once I pull the screen slightly towards me the space disappears as well as the issue.

I was thinking i could write a formula that looks at an RSS feed or website (like yahoo or Google weather) based on the zip code of the address. I could also write the formula that pulls the weather to excel then VLOOKUP the zip. Does anyone have any ideas about this?? I am not sure what to do!!

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis question is MOSTLY for those with a new 27" i Mac running Snow Leopard.
As I've already received the Apple VESA adapter plate to allow mounting to a wall mounted extension arm - allowing the i Mac to "float" above the desktop.
I see some mounts allow the screen to be rotated 90 degrees, which lets the user see long spreadsheets and web pages and such.
Does the ATI driver (from Apple) have the option to run the display in "pivot" or 90 degrees rotated option?
(This has been very common in both nVidia and ATI graphics cards for years.)
I'm awaiting my i7 quad, and checking our old G5 have discovered that this is not available on that machine with Tiger.
When I go to "System Preferences" / "Display" / "preferences" I just get a box saying "The Geometry tab of Display preferences is hidden because this display does not have geometry controls."
Would someone with a C2D 27" please check if their i Mac has this option?
recently i gave first ubuntu and then windows 7 a shot on my macbook. i partitioned the drive using bootcamp, then repartitioned the non-OSX-part with the ubuntu and windows installer. At the moment windows and OSX ar on my macbook, both are bootable and work, though the partition table in OSX' diskutil seems messed up. It shows that there is still a linux swap partition left. The windows NTFS partition is mounted on bootup but shows random (not human readable) folders in finder. Windows in contrast shows the partitions as they should be (and probably are, considering everything is working). How can i fix the partition table seen by OSX? How can it be that windows and OSX dont show the same partitions?
