Apr 2, 2009I really want Pivot. But I have a Mac. So I downloaded Darwine for my PowerPc based Mac. It said I needed X11. I searched the internet for free downloads. I got one. I'm now worried that if I install X11, I may accidentally reinstall the whole computer and potentially lose all my files/apps. Will I reinstall my computer and lose files/apps if I install X11?

IMac :: Does 27" Have "Pivot" In It's Video Driver?
Nov 9, 2009This question is MOSTLY for those with a new 27" i Mac running Snow Leopard.
As I've already received the Apple VESA adapter plate to allow mounting to a wall mounted extension arm - allowing the i Mac to "float" above the desktop.
I see some mounts allow the screen to be rotated 90 degrees, which lets the user see long spreadsheets and web pages and such.
Does the ATI driver (from Apple) have the option to run the display in "pivot" or 90 degrees rotated option?
(This has been very common in both nVidia and ATI graphics cards for years.)
I'm awaiting my i7 quad, and checking our old G5 have discovered that this is not available on that machine with Tiger.
When I go to "System Preferences" / "Display" / "preferences" I just get a box saying "The Geometry tab of Display preferences is hidden because this display does not have geometry controls."
Would someone with a C2D 27" please check if their i Mac has this option?

May 10, 2009When downloading small files online they will download through Speed Download. Before I installed Speed Download it would just download through the regular downloading client. How do I change it back to using the regular one as standard? I use firefox btw

Jun 30, 2008I am trying to download MAC OSX 10.5 that I just purchased and my hard drive on the computer won't show up as a destination drive to download the software on. I erased the disk figuring that would help but it did not.

Mar 15, 2010Ive recently downloaded a trail for the download accelerator DAP (Download Accelerator Plus) to speed up the download of a world of warcraft patch. Unfortunately, I had to delete this program when I realized that this was causing my computer to overheat due to pushing my computer's abilities through the roof. My computer has not been damaged in anyway, and i have "deleted" the program but when i still continue to try to download something it says that "DAP Plugin cannot find Download accelerator plus"; even thuogh i just deleted everything. so then i try to delete the plugin, but my mac says that "this item cannot be deleted when it is in use" but it really is not.
Can any of you help me to try to delete this plugin so i can start downloading again. After several attempts and techniques I STILL am not able to download anythinh

Apr 12, 2012Says the software may have been tampered with or corrupted during download. I am NOT some computer hack, just a regular guy who bought a simple product to download and it doesn't work. Total BS and waste of my time. I'm not interested in saving my download to an ext HD, or partitioning my HD, or some other funky work-around. I want to know why this software will not load straight away as advertised? I have S/L, v 10.6.8 and the required RAM and disc space.

Mar 27, 2010For some reason recently when I go to download anything I see the 'swirly indicator' at the top of the page briefly, then it stops and there is no new download in the Download Folder and Finder does not show any new file. But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox plugins� To no avail.
There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.

Apr 9, 2009I've got a real odd problem with safari 4. For some reason it is cutting my download speeds in about 1/2 from my server and many other places.
If I restart safari I will be able to download close to my 18 Mbps for a little bit but then it will just start to slow down and after about 30 minutes it will be down to about 6 - 8 Mbps.

Apr 17, 2010I managed to download and install SleepisDeath but I can't open the game because I haven't got Rosetta. Every time I try it comes up with this message:
"To open SleepIsDeath, you need to install Rosetta.
To install Rosetta, connect to the Internet and open SleepIsDeath. If you cannot connect to the Internet, insert your Mac OS X installation disc, open the Optional Installs folder, and double-click Optional Installs."
Trouble is, I am connected to the Internet and every other program seems perfectly capable of recognising this, and because I bought my Macbook complete with SnowLeopard already installed, no installation disc was included.
