Today when I jumped on my Macbook and was watching a youtube video I tried to turn down the sound using my sound button in the upper right hand corner.. but nothing happened. I could see the sound bar that pops up in the middle of the screen go up and down but the sound stayed where it was. This is new and has never happened before.
I'm sitting here typing a paper and my illuminated keyboard goes out when its set to be on all the time. I try adjusting it manually and it won't let me. My controls also stopped working on adjusting brightness. When I click increase volume, it brings up my dashboard. I did not spill anything on my laptop. It just started happening out of nowhere. I also tried restating and its still not working.
i've been trying both smcFanControl and Fancontrol I realy don't understand FanControl and when i am starting smcFanControl it work in a sec and then it gets back to normal.
The volume controls are not working correctly. Using the volume key on the keyboard, the volume overlays comes up and goes up/down, however there is no change in volume.
Also when i cick on the volume icon in the bar at the top i can move the slider up/down but no change in volume. The only way I can change the volume is to go into system preferences.
Restarting the iMac temporarily resolves the problem, but it's not usually long before it acts up again.
I have my Mini hooked up through a usb/minidisplayport to HDMI adapter. On my keyboard when I push mute or volume up or down, the computer shows the mute/vol up/vol down icon on the screen when I push it and it makes the volume sound, but it does not actually mute the tv or make the volume go up or down. Only the actual TV controls will make it work.
The volume quit working on my computers speakers. I try to hit the up volume and a greyed out speaker appears showing volume bar all the way up with a circle below it with a line through it?
I used to have a magic mouse connected to my mbp (mid 2008) it worked ok, until I updated to Lion.Same with the keyboard. Both appear to be connected ok via Bluetooth. The only functionality letf on the mouse is the scrolling up and down. The keayboard appears to be inoperable completly. What I did to cure the problem so far is:
- Reinstalling the OS (Lion) - no go
- Reinstall Leopard und run all updates, no go
- Zap the p-Ram and resetting the whole mbp.
- I checked the BT connection an setting and reinstalled the mouse a several times, no go.
Other Bluetooth devices work OK on the mbp.The mouse and the keyboard work with my Windows PC ?It looks not like a hardware issue, I just learned on the net, that there are more people with the same issue.Could a firmware issue be responsible for this?
sound not working. when i try to use the volume keys, it comes up with the volume change image but the speaker symbol is grey and there is a padlock icon, and also a red light is coming out of the headphone plug-hole.
For the past few days the sound is not working on my macbook pro; even if i put headphones on or without them it still does not work. I've went to system preferences, then went to sound and it says that everything is not muted.
Not sure why, but all of a sudden have no sound effects. When I go to System Preferences all the alert sound effect choices are grayed out. When press the volume buttons, can't adjust settings and there's a strike-out symbol underneath the bars.
When i listen to anything with headphones and then want to unplug the headphones and listen to whatever im listening it.. it wont work.. it never does.. i have the older version of white macbook.. got it in september.... Anyone know how to fix this?
My sound jack stopped working today, I've tried with 2 sets of speakers and I'm not getting sound out of them. When I plug the speakers jack into my macs sound jack the music that is playing on the mac speakers turns off, but then no sound comes out of my other speakers. My mac is the 13" pro top speck.
I have a Dual 2ghz PowerPC G5.I'm positive the password is correct because I enter it all the time in my other mac hardware/applications. I tried deleting the mail account them re-adding it, it still rejects my password. I can't update any of my software (nothing is available). I've tried restarting the computer.Safari still works. All my other apps still work. I selected PowerMac as the product on the pulldown menu, I hope that's the same as PowerPC. My OS is 10.4.11
Info: PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11), Mail 2.3.1(753.1)
So recently my macbook decided to stop working properly and now the sound cuts in and out. I called up apple and they said to repair it, it was gonna cost upwards of 300 dollars 0_o. So i was wondering is there anyway i can fix it by myself or are there any other ways that i can get it to produce better sound ie speakers that will work of their own soundcard.
I have a vizio hdtv and I have hooked up the video with a hdmi cable adapted to the mini display port and that is working fine but I cannot send sound through it or idk how to. So i bought a optical toslink to mini toslink cable to send audio form the laptop to the tv but the audio still doesn't work. The laptop says that it automatically recognizes it as a digital output.
the sound on my macbook stopped working yesterday. I tried rebooting it and nothing changed. There is no red light in the headphone slot either. The sound doesnt work with headphones or without. What could be wrong with it?
My Mac's audio doesn't work anymore, except for the "starting sound". The audio icon now is grey, instead of black. When I try to turn up the volume nothing happens because a "prohibition signal" appears under the volume symbol in the middle of the screen.
I should make sure "Built-in Output" is selected in my sound settings, but that option doesn't even appear. It's as if my computer forgot it had built in speakers...
My TV works fine until I hook up my MBP. Great live stream picture, but we lose sound.
TV is a Panasonic widescreen, only 3 or 4 yrs old. MBP is not even 2 yrs. old. Using DVi to HDMI plug to HDMI cable to Router. We solved this in the past, but can't remember how we fixed it!
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2010), iOS 5, MBP OS 10.6.8
I noticed my sound wasn't working, so I did a restart. The "blip" sound when you adjust the volume using F11/F12 would play, but as soon as I tried to run something else (YouTube video, iTunes, etc.), that wouldn't play (just get stuck at whatever point I tried to start it). After that, the blip sound no longer worked either.
I have tried the following things already and none of them fixed the problem (all of them reset the "blip" sound, but it always went away again as soon as I tried to play anything):- running Apple Diagnostics (no problem detected)- resetting PRAM- resetting SMC
I've checked things as suggested in other message boards … there's no red light in my headphone jack, nor is the sound muted under System Preferences. The problem persists whether headphones are in or not.
My sound does not seem to be working following the latest update to Mavericks (10.9.4). I am running a 2012 Retina Macbook Pro. Sound does not work with speakers, headphones or built-in sounds. Its not on mute, I have checked the Audio Midi setup and Sound settings and everything is as they were prior to the update, so the sound should still be working.
I have tried resetting the SMC and PRAM, no luck yet. Also tried re-installing the update but did not work.
My front firewire 400 and 800 ports abruptly quit working. THe backs work fine. I've tried two different video cameras and an external hard drive and according to system profiler none are recognized and none are accessible.
