It seems that the Lion build from the Mac App Store is not compatible with my Macbook Pro Retina 15''. It's seems I would need the the build 11E2068 for my USB thumb drive to work properly. I don't want to go through the internet recovery and loose 8 hours.
Is there anyway for my to get that build(11E2068) on my USB thumb drive?

Downloaded Lion install on my iMac. Tried to make copy on thumb drive, but each time I get message "Restore Failure" Could not restore-cannot allocate memory. Using 8GB thumb drive. I have tried 2 times to move the file from my desktop to the thumb-drive and have gotten the same message both times.

I'm looking for a fast USB thumb drive to use for data backups. Does anyone know of any SLC USB thumb drives that are 32 GB or larger in capacity?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAre there any apps out there that will automatically update the contents of my flash drive when I plug it in? I use my thumb drive to keep documents for my classes, like java files for my programming class or papers etc. It would be fantastic to be able to just plug my flash drive in and if I have added a document into certain folders it will copy those files onto my flash drive.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't copy a Time Machine backup file (Backups.backupb) from one external hard drive to another. Both hard drives are Seagate 1TB Backup Plus. The Backups.backupb file is about 275GB. When I try to drag and drop the Backups.backupb file from one drive to the other (which I've tried three times) it to begins copy but after about 3GBs are copied I get a message that says "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)."Â
I formatted (erased) the new hard drive with Disk Utility as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Apple Support says I should format the new drive in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) "with a GUID partition," but I don't see the GUID partition as an option when I format the drive. Is this necessary, and if so, how do it do it? I'm using OS 10.8.6 on a 2012 MacBook Pro retna.Â
I also tried copying the backup files to another drive (a Maxtor HD) and got the same error message.

I am trying to restore my Macbook Air using the Apple Lion Thumb Drive. I inserted the thumb drive, restarted, and held down Command-R. I got the recovery mode, and it is asking me to choose a Wi-Fi Network to continue... I don't have wi-fi here. Is there a way to do this using the thumb drive and no internet?

I'm trying to copy my backup drive data to a new drive. The first one ran out of space, so I bought a larger one and am trying to transfer all the data. I have tried using disk utility, but it refuses to copy it. Also dragging and dropping the file doesn't work either.

I recently upgraded my iMac G5 which was running mac 10.5.8 to an iMac intel 10.6. I took the HD out of the G5, put it in an enclosure, and formatted it. Can I use that drive as a backup drive on my Macbook Air using Carbon Copy Cloner? The drive in the enclosure is powered so there should be no strain on the Air's system?

Since OS X 10.7 comes as a download from the app store, does anyone know if it is possible to install the OS on a thumb drive, in my case so that I could run diagnostic software on the system drive by booting from the thumb drive?

My USB thumb drive won't update the amount of free space. It's constantly saying it is full, even if I delete the files on it. Â
It's the same on all of the thumb drives I use. Â It there a "refresh" button - to get it to update the amount of data on it?Â

I used Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable backup of my internal hard drive. I was wondering how you initiate the bootable backup if I do have an internal hard drive failure? Do I just plug the drive in and power the computer on? Are there any other steps/precautions I should consider.

I'm using Mac OSX 10.7.3. Since a few days, I've some trouble with Time Machine. When TM would create a new backup in the normal hourly loop it creates the message: Time machine has completed the review of its backups. To improve the reliability time machine must create a new backup.
Now I've to options:
1. I can create a new backup later
2. create a new backup
I don't want to create a new backup, I want to use the old one. I still have enough space on my backup volume. I'm using the Airport Extreme and a WD hard drive.

After updating to Lion server, I moved my Drobo over and setup Time Machine
Many users are prompeted to reuse or create a new backup.
The problem is I log in with credentials of 'USER A', and on the dialog it lists another 'USER B', userb.sparsebundle as the file to reuse. Â
I recently had a iMac hard drive die, and i tired to use the time machine on the server, with 'USER A' credentials, i got 4 listings and none of them were 'USER A'Â
I check the drobo and 'USER A''s sparsebundle is there. I have tried changeing permissions to read the sparsebudle, but the bundle is a 250k file, not a diskimage of the files even. Â
How do i resolve this problem of the wrong users coming up on "reuse or create new backup"?Â
How do i access the lost sparsebundle that i cannot log into to get the files for the user that needs them?
