I have a late 2008 aluminum unibody MacBook. I recently bought a 500 gb harddrive to replace the stock 160 gb and reinstalled OS X.
I'm at the step that asks you to choose to setup as new or from a backup. I want to backup from my Time Capsule's latest backup using time machine. However, after entering my acct and password to access my time capsule, it's been stuck at the "Checking Time Machine backup..." popup with the spinning beachball. It's been like this for the past hour and half.
i just put a new hard drive in and reinstalled mac osx. when i tried to back up from a time machine back up it didnt put any of my contacts, book marks or anything back in. further more, i only have 120 gigs of my 320 gigs free.
MBP 2006 2.0 with SL 10.6 started acting goofy over the weekend, so I C booted SL install disc and reinstalled. Machine now runs fine and all my stuff is still here, but I am no longer an Administrator and can't get it to boot from C drive or let me into Restart/SL, as I'm not an administrator. So I can't use the disc drive or change anything.
I'm the original/only owner and have never entered an Administrator password anywhere, just my login as a user. Is there a way to get it to allow the disc in so I can clear up the passwords?
Safari suddenly stopped working today and would only give me an error message saying that it could not be opened because of a problem, and that it needed to be reinstalled. I tried reinstalling OS X Lion, with the built in Lion recovery in the macbook air, but it is still not working. Based on reading other discussion I'm thinking that it might be malware, but the error message they are reporting is not similar to the one I am getting now. Stupidly I didn't check it properly, so I don't know what the error message was before I resinstalled OS, but now it reads:
Dyld Error Message: Symbol not found: __ZN3JSC6JSCell11getCallDataERNS_8CallDataE Referenced from: /System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/WebKit Expected in: /System/Library/StagedFrameworks/Safari/JavaScriptCore.framework/JavaScriptCore in /System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/WebKit
The crashes keep on coming, so I bought Mackeeper and it told me that my system was clean but it still crashes. Most of the crashes happen while on the internet either watching "blink box" or shifting between sites. Mackeeper automatically checks my internet security and I am at a loss at to what is causing it. It is always a kernel (panic attack) and the screen always goes gray as the line comes down. Does anyone know what is happening.

I decided to fully reinstall eclipse so i typed eclipse in finder and deleted everything and then reinstalled it and i get the following error: http://pastebin.com/NFHePaJz
I have a 2008 5th generation black macbook. It's a good 4 years old, so I figured I'd wipe my computer all together and reinstall os x. Once I did, everything is working fine until I do the software updates. Safari even looks like it's from 2008 lol. The issue is, it downloads the updates fine, but once it restarts and begins the actual install, it gets to the point where it's "Configuring update" and completely stops in it's tracks. I've tried letting it do its thing and walked away, because maybe it would actually take a while but no, the blue progress bar is in the same exact point. So I'm stuck with leopard 10.5.2
I installed 300 fonts on my MBP and now all my web fonts are so messed up I can barely make out what some websites say. Is there a way to fix this or just dump the fonts and re-install them?
After months of continual Time Machine backups to my Time Capsule, an error message comes up saying that Time Capsule is busy. I've tried to delete the file and start over from scratch, but it won't let me.

Finally got around to reinstall Ubuntu 9.10 x64 natively on my MBP, since I accidentally deleted the partition that was already on there. Anyway, got it all perfectly working, then I played around with the 3D cube. I was freaking blown away how neat it was! Does anyone know of something like it for Mac OS X? I searched, but couldn't find anything.
I just reinstalled my operating system with the discs i was given when i bought my faithful macbook.now the printer which I've always used, and which was plug and play when I first used it won"t work.It recognizes the make and model (Canon iP2500) but the list of drivers in the printer set-up utility doesn't have mine on there. The list entirely consists of 'Gimp' drivers, and my printer isn't listed.I have looked for support on apple and also at canon, but no joy.
My "other" computer (a DELL Latitude laptop) that my wife uses mostly had become infected with malware to the point where a fresh reinstall of Windows XP seemed the only way back to a regular operation. Now that that's done, I copied the backed-up iTunes files back into my wife's iTunes directory (C:Documents and Settings<username>My DocumentsMy MusiciTunes). So far, so good, the computer seems happy again, but when I try to play any of her music (purchased from the iTunes store), iTunes claims that the songs are not authorized for playback on our computer. Now, I understand that there is a limit to five computers that can be allowed to play back each song, but I'd be a little surprised if a re-installed OS counts as a new computer. Is this what I am seeing, or what is going on?
I have an iweb site active on the apple server and able to be viewed online, but sadly my iweb app has be come corrupt and I have had to reinstall iweb from my disc. I would like to know if there is any way that I can some how carry on adding to my website. My site is on idisk, but sadly I did not back up to a folder nor time machine. My site is at [URL]
You should be able to buy ANY of the top 20 graphics cards here, and plug them straight into any Mac or PC....they should just work. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html"I flashed the card, and then restalled...." Too much. You should be able to to buy it, install it, reboot - with ANY of them - and they should work right out of the box.
Recently I accidentally deleted my itunes and had to reinstall it and now its empty is there a way I can redownload all my purchases back on to itunes, I don't know if when i bought them if I clicked the back up purchases button.
I was seeking a job for the past 6 months. I finally got a call for an interview at 3 places. I am in big trouble now. I was having major problems with my computer constantly crashing, and I was advised to re-install my MAC OS 10.5 original disc to get a new system. I forgot to backup my important files and folders. Now I need to print my resume that I saved, it has been deleted completely. I do not even have a hard copy to refer to. I cannot remember what was on it in order to make another one. I have 2 job interviews on Monday 12th and 1 on Tuesday 13th. Do they have any software I can get to restore files that were deleted when I re-installed my original MAC OS 10.5 disc
I have Vista (yeah, yeah, it sucks. Really. Just testing the Ati card) on my brand new iMac 24 and the audio quality is VERY low. Worst than the macbook speakers. The strange thing is that in MacOSX the quality is good and even in Vista with earphones. I reinstalled the Realtek HD drivers but it didn't change anything.
I recently re-installed Tiger on my macbook because I'd accidentally deleted system preferences and I needed it back. I still have all of my HD data, except that iTunes will bounce once in the dock, and then disappear. It doesn't open to my library like it usually would.
Recently I started suffering pretty bad from color wheel load time where safari was getting glitchy and taking forever to move. I tried to cold start it to see if a refresh would help. Well it white screened, and wouldnt exit the loading screen. I reset the ram memory with alt ctrl p and r; this did nothing. Eventually I kissed all my music projects and logic pro 9 good bye, and reformatted from the boot disc. When I went to use it, I got out of the white screen, but was ridiculously slow.
Thinking maybe I didn't do the partition right, I reformatted again, erased the entire drive, set the partition, and loaded 10.6. Any time I open safari, it gets glitchy, and incredibly slow to the point I cant even restart. I cleared the memory again and this still did nothing. I purchased and installed new ram; still nothing. Coming from windows a reformat usually takes care of things. I have no idea what I can do at this point. Its a 2007 24" 2.4 ghz 2gb RAM.
Wondering why i cant toggle app windows after i reinstalled osx10.5 with cmd-<? i use this command all the time and know it wont work, any one smart who knows the answer to this issue?
Having just moved from Snow Leopard to Lion, i reinstalled iWork 08 and tried to carry on work..... . But after the reinstalls, the text in ALL .pages documents doesn't show anymore. I can highlight it and I can see it - but no amount of fiddling with text colour or background colour does the trick. Funnily enough, I can print the documents without any problems.
It takes really longer time to boot up. Eventually it gets boot, but i am unable to access Mail app. Sometimes the booting is faster. In this case, i can use the Mail app. I tried to shut down, restart many times, but the boot up takes longer time or even lesser.
I've been having issues with Lion locking up ever since it was released, so I finally got around to reinstalling it. Now when I try to sync purchased TV shows to my iPad it tells my it can not sync because my computer is not authorized for the content. Oddly I am able to sync *some* content purchased from the iTunes store.
I have tried authorizing my computer as suggested in the error message to no avail. I also tried deauthorizing it and reauthorizing it but that also was of no help.
Clicked itunes in dock the icon bobs up and down then nothing. the same thing happens with an album design software supplied by a local photo lab both were working perfectly last week. All other software is fine.I have verified and repaired permissions and disks several time and it say every thing is Ok. No goodI reinstalled both bits of software from new copies. No good.Reinstalled Snow Leopard and up dated as required. No good.Used 3rd party software called Permissions/Preference. No good
So i just recently installed COD4 in the windows part of my computer was playing it fine and great then all of a sudden the sound stopped woring i unistalled ALL the bootcamp drivers reinstalled them and to my avail it still didnt work my OS X partition works perfectly i dotn really know what else to try
I've had my TIme Capsule for a few years now. Last year I decided to self upgrade the internal HDD to 3TB to actually fit back-ups from my two mac's at home. On my MBP the boot drive failed. It's unfixable unfortunately. how to restore full system on a new HDD on my MacBookPro from TimeCapsule, after boot drive failure?
how to connect the laptop with clean/ empty HDD to MBP and make it boot and install it all from Time Capsule. Moreover, I am not sure how to connect it to Time Capsule, so that it doesn't take 3 days to restore. There is both an ethernet port as well as USB 2.0 one too.
That 'old' boot driveis still barely running, I wanted to hand copy at least my iPhoto Library of 110GB in size, but it just keeps crashing, as the file is so big. I mean, I should have it all back-ed up on TimeCapsule,
