Applications :: Cog - Playlists / Song Order Changed
Jan 12, 2010After some test-driving of various audio-player software, I've settled on Cog as the best player for my purposes (simple and lightweight, with minimal memory / resource usage).
Overall, I love the program, and it does exactly what I want it to, with two exceptions - whenever I quit and reopen it, it forgets A) the song order of its current playlist, and B) its place in the playlist when it was closed down. It'll remember which songs were on the playlist, but resets the song order to default, and by so doing also loses its place.
OS X :: Drag Songs From Playlists Into Different Order / Itunes Unable To Drag Songs
Feb 4, 2009So over the past few months I have noticed this small bug/glitch in iTunes... and it is very annoying.
I cannot drag songs from playlists into different order. iTunes just doesn't let me drag at all.
I have to quit iTunes, then restart it. It will work for one time, but as soon as I got back to "Library" and then try to go back and edit a playlist, I have to exit iTunes.
Any fix for this?
ITunes :: Song Order In Alphabetical Rather Than Correct Album Order (only For Some Albums)?
Jun 23, 2012I have a problem with SOME of my albums in itunes. Some of them ( aprox 20%) are displaying the sogns within an album in an alphabetical order. I do not have "track" in the column header selected. I have tried selecting "track #"but this does not rectify the track names into the original album order. I can not manually enter the track number either in the "track #" field to manually rectify this as iTunes does not allow you do this. It is really frustrating that I have to listen to some of my albums in alpabetical song name order rather than the order the artist wanted me to. Feb 13, 2010There's something that's been bugging me for ages, literally years:
I've got a whole lot of music, 45 days worth, and I view it by date added and want to keep it that way for a number of reasons.
Problem is, when I want to play an album I have to click on the first track, then switch to album (or artist) display by the end of that track.
The other day I added an album by dragging it into iTunes in the Finder. I noticed that I could start and stop and advance and rewind tracks and it would go in order, from first to last track, even in Date Added mode, so it was visually moving up and down instead of from top to bottom.
Is there secretly a way to view in Date Added but have the next track be the next track on that album? Besides dragging the tracks into iTunes from the Finder I mean.
If anyone has a way to do this, it would seriously improve my life and I would be infinitely grateful.
ITunes For Mac :: Rearrange Apps On IPhone?
Aug 20, 2014I think I used to be able to plug my iPhone into my iMac and, via iTunes, be able to click on the icon for my phone, then choose Apps across the top and when the screen opened showing my apps on the various desktops I had built, I could click on the apps and move them from one desktop to the other, and rearrange their order. Now, in iTunes 11.3.1, when I click on the app and try and drag it, the whole desktop moves. It is easier to rearrange them via iTunes on the iMac vs doing it on the iPhone as you can make the app icons bigger, which makes it easier to see them.

ITunes :: Registering Original Album, Alphabetical Order Vs Album Order?
Jun 7, 2012I just finished an original rock album, registered it with Gracenote, and it is being sold through itunes and many other places via cdbaby. The album is also available to download via Dropcards to people that buy or receive a download crad from us in person. PROBLEM is, when you download the cd, the tracks are in the proper order as on the album when they are in a folder from Dropcards, then you drag them into itunes and they are in ALPHABETICAL order in the RECENTLY ADDED folder! Under the MUSIC tab, they however are in proper album order. ?? It's good that the cd is properly registered and is in the right order in peoples main MUSIC list, but when I download albums, the easiest way to find the new album is under RECENTLY ADDED, which in my case would have people clicking on the wrong song to start listening to our record (not the intended feel we wanted to start the record with)

Nov 28, 2010 I want to keep the order of one of my playlists so it cannot be altered if i click the wrong button...in order of the plays/songs.
I heard "Copy to Play Order? works but doesn't seem to fix the playlist not to move. I just want it to be secure in the order. Also is there a way to make Itunes a mix of my own, like the Genius Mixes? Or a way to save the playlist order? So if something happen i could get it back?

Sep 17, 2009I know some of you out there will probably think I'm nuts, but please read the whole message first.
I have been disabled for a number of years, and recently a friend of mine purchased for me a refurbished MacBook Pro 15" 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo laptop, which, as you might guess I love, since my last Mac laptop was the 1999 PPC G3 400Mhz that croaked about 5 years ago.
Fortunately, before that late, semi-great machine died, I was able to copy to an external drive my entire iTunes folder, which contains the "iTunes Music Library" file as well as the "iTunes Music" folder with more than 1,000 songs in it. I do NOT have any written documentation on my playlists.
Now, many years later, I have this great machine that I love, and I cannot for the life of me figure a way to import my Mac OS 9 iTunes PLAYLISTS into Mac OS X iTunes 9. Additionally, the song file folders, structured perfectly in Mac OS 9, now get recreated in truly bisarre ways in iTunes 9, where I get multiple folders by the same artist if that artist has ever done a duet with someone, and soundtracks have been broken out into individual folders by each artist on the soundtrack, instead of all the songs being placed into ONE folder with the soundtrack's name on it, as it is in the Mac OS 9 iTunes Music folder.
All I want to do is recreate my library and playlists as they were in Mac OS 9, using iTunes 9 in Mac OS X 10.6.

Mar 9, 2012Recently any new playlists I create in iTunes are not appearing as an option to sync to my iPhone or iPad. I am manually managing music and have other playlists checked to sync and they work fine. But, if I create a new playlist it simply does not show up. If I delete a playlist it disappears from the available options to sync but nothing when I create a new one.

Mar 17, 2012I am having a very bad moment right now.I have nearly 4TB of content,movies, music apps..etc.I have not made any changes to my MAC, I installed the latest version of iTunes when it came out.Everyhthing was working perfectly fine, until tonight, simply upon closing Itunes and reopening,my iTunes was like it was just installed, there is no content in my library, (Everything in my external HD's, just not on itunes) only the three tabs that show content that come enabled by default are on. It is as if I had just installed Itunes..
My nearly 10,000 ratings are gone, playlists, and playcounts from two years. anybody give me some insight into how to readd my content without losing my valubable information that I just listed.I repeat, I have not installed or made any changes in weeks, it just happened upon closing and reopening.

Dec 4, 2014Having had some problems I used the Disk Utility to check the HD and it told me to reformat it. I copied the entire disk to an external drive, reformatted the HD then downloaded a new installation of Mavericks 10.9.5 as had been previously installed. The system is now back up but how do I recover the preferences and other information to run them on the HD as before. I have simply copied most of my applications across but, for instance, my mailboxes have all gone and my signatures. The iTunes does not have my playlists etc. etc..

Sep 30, 2008a new problem with my MacBook I think. The iTunes widget on my dashboard isn't working correctly, when I click on the i button to turn around the widget to select a playlist, the dashboard freezes temporarily and when it turns around there are no playlists to select. I know I have loads of playlists and I am using the original iTunes widget that came installed on the machine.

About a year ago I finally did the right thing and bought a 1TB external HD for my 'G4 Dual Optical'.
I put all my music (and other stuff) on it and went into iTunes Preferences>Advance and changed the 'iTunes Music Folder Location' to my External HD.
Easy Peasy!
Then in January ('09), I upgraded the OS from OS X v10.4 to v10.5.6.
I did a complete fresh install, everything was fine, except when I redirected iTunes to my External HD I'd lost all my Playlists!
As you can imagine this was slightly frustrating as I have over 7000 songs in my iTunes library! A couple of weeks ago, I spent hours and hours re-creating new playlist folders, and putting them in some kind of organization again.
Now, this is my Question:
I've now bought a new Mac and I was just getting everything over to the new one, this will be easy as everything is backed up, but how do I save those play lists?
I notice I can 'right-click' on a play list and I have a choice of things I can do!
Maybe it's this? I'd be very grateful if somebody could explain in "Layman's Terms", how I can do this, as the idea of having to organize the library again is a daunting one!
Applications :: ITunes, Duplicated And Playlists?
Jun 23, 2010While getting iTunes ready for my new iPhone tonight I found something strange. I have duplicates showing up in playlists that ARE NOT duplicates in my Music library.
For example, in my Library I show to have 9 albums, 104 items and 892.4MB of Bruce Springsteen.
I created a new Playlist called iPhone 4. This playlist will of course be used for my new device. I'm moving from 16GB to 32GB so I can double the amount of music on my iPhone. Well in that iPhone 4 playlist Bruce Springsteen shows to have 9 albums and 149 songs and 1.22GB. There are several duplicates in there of songs. There are also several others artists with similiar results.
I guess my question is, how can there be duplicates in the playlist, if they are not showing as duplicates in my Library?

I have that old profile as an alternate User profile on this Macbook, i'd just like to copy some preferences from that profile into this one, so i'll have my playlists. Oct 9, 2010on my iMac I have a full set of iTunes playlists and songs. I bought a new MacBook Pro today and transferred my entire Music ---> iTunes folder to the Music folder on the new Macbook Pro. My question is, how can I have it so that I have all my playlists from the old computer (I don't want to have to sort through all my songs). Feb 3, 2012I need to reinstall itunes but do not want to lose my playlists. I keep my music on an external hard drive that is connect to my Airport router via USB. I can drag my music from the folder on the hard drive back into itunes but I dont want to have to go hunting for my songs again to fill my playlists. I have 50,000 songs and one playlist has 20,000 songs and the other has 4,600 and a few randon ones with 1,000 or so songs. What are my options? i am running the newest itunes with lion 10.7.3.

ITunes :: Music In My Playlists Won't Shuffle
Feb 13, 2012So I updated my MacBook Pro last night and now my playlists wont shuffle correctly. When I turn on the shuffle feature and I have a column selected (number, rating, etc), all it does is rearrange the songs. it's not a real shuffle because I can still see which song is coming next (ie, songs 1, 2, and 3 might become 3, 1, and 2, but they'll still play in that order). When I turn on the shuffle feature without any column being selected, nothing happens. even though the shuffle button is blue, the songs in the playlists play in their exact order. the shuffle only seems to work properly when im playing music out of the entire music library, not one playlist.

Mar 8, 2012Like others after updateing to latest version of iTunes 10.6, iTunes crashes only after I try to access playlists that have artwork. It seems I can get to the library if I leave it in list view. But unfortuneately those playlists that are saved in grid view will crash the program before I can change the view type. So I this point I cant see any of my playlists although the info is there. My audio and video library is stored on external drives. It seems like a loading issue pulling up file data across multiple drives.
