MacBook Pro :: HP Deskjet F4280 Does Not Scan On Mid 2010?
Jul 2, 2014
I have a hp deskjet f4280 and when I am trying to scan from my MacBook Pro Mid 2010 (MacBookPro7,1) the scanner and image capture app froze... I was observing the issue carefully and I think it is due a problem with the "HPscanner.app" When it is working on the preview it freezes and state at 99.8% of use of the processor.... The problem is only in this computer. I have another mac, MacBookPro8,2 and it scans properly and without any problem.

I have a problem with finding the right software for my MacBook Pro. I've contacted Hp customer care for the software needed but they sent me the v l0.6 link, and the update was not successful because my MacBook version was not supported "As I thought". And somehow I can't find the printer software online.

I have an iPad 32GB WiFi and a MacBook Pro as well so I was trying very hard to justify myself in getting an 11" MBA but ending up talking myself out of it. The 13" MBP is perfect for my uses. It's already lightweight and portable as it is. After playing with the 11" in the Apple store, I was impressed on how light it was. This no doubt blows away any netbook or any notebook in it's weight class in terms of size and performance. However, the MBP's battery life, hard drive space, and processing power OUTWEIGHS the reasons of dumping my 13" MBP for the Air. Also, I have it hooked up to a 21.5 Inch HP monitor at home and it's good enough to use as a main computer at home, and light enough to take on the road.
If I needed to lookup something quickly in bed or around the house, that's where the iPad comes in. If I needed to send a quick e-mail, my HTC Evo is already great at doing that. If I didn't have a 13" MBP or even the iPad, I would have most likely went ahead and purchased the MBA. Just now at this point, spending another $1000+ or getting rid of my MBP doesn't make much sense... yet.

I've been lurking MacRumors ever since 'the wait for Arrandale' began and finally decided to sign up now so I could post this thread. I've been a Windows user for a long time now and I have a Win7 rig at home. However, I'll be going to uni later this year so I need a good portable notebook that's suitable for the common mailing 'n surfing, but also for doing some programming in Eclipse (Java) and PHP work etc. I still have my Win7 box at home for gaming and things that require larger screensize, but for the notebook... I feel really attracted to OSX with a MBP.
It will be my first Mac, but my desktop dualboots with OSX and I love it. So that's why I have decided that my school notebook will be a Mac. This is why I have been closely watching the rumors for the new MBPs and ofcourse I was pretty disappointed when I saw that the 13" model still had a C2D cpu... It's not that I need a beefed up CPU in my notebook (... I have a 3.6 GHz quad at home ), but it feels 'wrong' to buy a MBP 13": even the 2009 MacBook has a C2D, so what will the MB 2010 update bring? Is it really worth the extra money? Anyone with a similar situation?

I have the HP 460cb mobile printer and a MBP.
It's simple, I want to print wirelessly via bluetooth, no USB dongles!
I have the HP Bluetooth card inserted into the printer so there's no problem with that. Everything was setup smoothly but for some reason, the two won't connect.
The devices were recognized and setup, then I went to pair them and they wouldn't connect. Suddenly they did connect for about 30 seconds (I could see the Bluetooth sign with the three dots in the middle, indicating that a device was paired; and yes I made sure all other Bluetooth devices were disconnected to avoid any confusion)

Initially, I had my WinXP computer share the printer with my Mac; it was connected to the PC, and through the wireless network, I would print off of my Mac. It used the hpijs driver. Everything worked fine. After the PC died, I decided that, until I get a new printer, I would use direct USB connection when I would need to print. However, after trying to add the printer from the Print and Fax tab, the printer spits out garbage.
I tried the Gutenprint 5.2.5 driver for HP DeskJet 810C, and after having absolutely no luck with that, I went to check what driver I used to use when my printer was being shared, as it was printing properly back then.
The result with the hpijs driver? Same garbage! It works fine when I use my Boot Camp, so it must be a driver problem with Mac OS X. I then tried the Generic PCL Laser Printer and the Generic PostScript Printer, but with the same results.
What's going on? Why is nothing working on my Mac? It seems to works on the Windows computers in the house. I'm using the same cable. Any ideas as to what is causing this? Maybe it's a bug with the recent update...?
In case it's of any use, I have Mac OS X 10.6.3 with a 2.8 GHz processor and 4GB of RAM.

After installing snow leopard on my 2.8 GHz 8-core Mac Pro, I cannot do duplex printing. I have also installed the 10.6.1 update. I presume snow leopard thinks my printer driver is up to date, since I have not received the HP printer driver update to install. I have even downloaded the HP Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 update from the Apple Support downloads site, but I get the following "error message" prior to the installation completion:
System extension cannot be used
The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/hpPlugInInit.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it or contact the product's vendor for an update.
There was a mention elsewhere of a check box in "print & fax" in system preferences to enable duplex printing. Unfortunately, I cannot find this check box.

I have an HP DeskJet 6540 printer and I replaced the ink cartridges. After I replaced the cartridges, I aligned them and then did a test print. I noticed that the blank ink didn't print. I opened system preferences, and then I opened the printer utility. It says, "Device Status : Pen Failure." Current Supplies Levels says, "The current levels for the selected printer are shown below...Cartridge on the left (tri-color 97) is unknown and the the cartridge on the right (black 96) is missing." Oh, I forgot to mention that the print cartridge light on the left side is flashing. I went to the HP support website and it says that the problem could be an incorrect print cartridge, incompatible print cartridge, or problem with the (left/right) print cartridge. The solution they offered was to remove, inspect and reseat the problem cartidge. It also said to clean the problem cartridge contacts. I did that and it still gives me the same results. I even reset the printer but still got the same results...
So the next thing I try is the OTHER cartridges listed as compatible with my printer which is 94 (black) and 95 (tri-color). I bought the new cartridges, placed them in the printer and I still got the same message from the print utility. I took the latter cartridges back and got a refund and explained that none of the compatible cartridges are working with my printer. I kept the 96 and 97 cartridges in the printer and the light on the left continues to flash so now I'm here asking if anyone knows how I can get my printer to recognize the new ink cartridges I installed?
